To Bennu and Back - A Personal Voyage
The following was originally posted to my Medium on November 5, 2023. I figured the good people of Tumblr would enjoy a story, and some ramblings from my mind - so here we go. Please do remember to check me out elsewhere, most social media I have is under the same "nikproxima" handle. Without further adieu...
Today, in a rare moment of free time, I went and spent an hour in a museum. The Smithsonianâs Museum of Natural History has, for a long time, been a place where Iâve come to marvel at the wonders of our world â a place that shaped my long standing appreciation for science and technology. But today, I went to see a visitor from another world, a visitor who in many ways I had already met a few months prior â a piece of the asteroid Bennu, delivered to Earth by NASAâs OSIRIS-REx spacecraft.
I remember how cold it was that morning, deep in the salt flats of Utah, away from the lights and bustle of Salt Lake City. September in the desert is not always the kindest, it can be 80ÂșF or 30ÂșF all on the same day. It felt so alien, yet, somehow right for a pinpoint landing from deep space. My photographer Matt and I left the sprawling suburbs behind as we wove through the mountains and brine filled pools, singing along to music we had discovered a mutual interest in. The dark voids of landforms stood over us as we negotiated the twisting freeways, soon spitting us onto a two lane highway. We spent an hour and a half on our drive, checking and rechecking NASAâs Twitter for information about the mission until my cell service was reduced to one bar. There was a degree of confidence not found in rocket launches present that morning. Weâd both covered launches in the past, and were acutely aware of the sensitivity of these great machines. Delays are the name of the game, but not today. This was happening, and we were powerless to stop it should anything go wrong.
The road we had taken through the inky expanse was narrow and dark, not a light to be seen. Only the ever dimming glow of the city we had left behind, and the ever brightening stars above us. We tried our best to pick out constellations and planets, craning our necks to see through the windshield. It was an alien world, and we were diving head first into it. There are no lights welcoming you to a military proving ground, only signs for you to stay away. Dugway is not exactly a friendly place, a complex and deeply secure military base lodged in the hostile flat expanse of the desert. Every element of our arrival was strange, the friendly welcome of NASA and University of Arizona officials contrasted strongly by the Army personnel. I can only imagine how strange it would have been for the staff of this isolated facility, watching a gaggle of press officials descending upon them.
As we filed in, through checkpoint after checkpoint, we found ourselves cemented in the thick of it. Officials from NASA, Dugway and UofA were eagerly counting off milestones. The spacecraft, having deposited its precious cargo, conducted its diversion maneuver as we sat on the dark and cold bus out the press site â truly alone. The spacecraft was off on the next part of its grand adventure, an exploration of the asteroid Apophis. But we were alone, just like those precious samples hanging over our heads. The press site was still dark when we arrived there, floodlights from the airfield bathing it in an eerie artificial glow as the sun threatened to creep over the distant mountains. Matt and I were quick to scour the place for a cup of coffee. The press tent was warm, warm enough to threaten to lull you to sleep â but there was too much excitement in the air. We were here, where we were meant to be, and those samples were coming. The flight line was adorned with helicopters, sleeping beasts equipped with cameras and other sensors to hunt for this precious treasure from deep space. We had a long wait before showtime.
I spent a good portion of this time speaking with Dr. Danny Glavin, from Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland. Many of the questions he faced centered around the upcoming Mars Sample Return mission, a complex and expensive program proving to be a headache for many involved. He spoke to me with a genuine kindness and excitement for this mission, and missions to come. The desertâs silence was broken by the sound of rotor blades, as the four helicopters came to life, beginning their trek towards the staging area. This was a complex operation, practiced over the 7 years this spacecraft had been roaming the Solar System â becoming all too real this chilly September morning. It was getting closer now, closing seemingly impossible distances over our heads. I cannot describe the emotion I felt as the last helicopter left, threatening to topple us with the force of its rotor washâ somewhere between excitement and dread.
Somewhere up above us, two additional aircraft joined the hunt. A WB-57 and a modified Gulfstream business jet, each equipped with heat seeking and high resolution cameras, began orbiting the landing site in search of their prize. In the tent, we counted down the seconds until the start of entry interface, the moment in which the samples would make first contact with the atmosphere â watching the landing timer tick towards zero. In the skies of Utah, the SRC was suddenly met with the force of the atmosphere once more, something it last felt 7 years prior at liftoff. This is where I felt the extent of my helplessness, watching this tiny blip on the 57âs FLIR imager. In that moment, I felt truly united with everyone in the room â sitting in wait, and clinging to hope. The press site was dead silent, save for the commentary from the livestream being broadcast to the world a few hundred feet from us. I was busy tweeting, commenting everything that I heard and saw from the official Space Scout Twitter. I think I wanted to throw up the entire time, and could only barely bring myself to look. At 7:39 from landing, we heard it: âPARACHUTE DEPLOYMENTâ. The press site felt energized, whoops and cheers, but there were milestones still to come, and the crash of the Genesis mission all those years ago still sat in our minds.
I donât think the fear stopped until we touched down. The footage was too grainy for us to really make out what was happening against the desert, obscuring the SRC from view. Hearing âCONFIRMATION OF SRC TOUCHDOWNâ was unlike anything I had ever felt. I had watched robots land on Mars, ships launch to the International Space Station, but this was here, returning to Earth. What a unique accomplishment that was, to not only make the trek across our Solar System, but to return to the place that created it. As the chute settled, and the teams were able to get closer, the noise returned. The press site was alive once more, people hugged and cried â all overjoyed with a sense of pride and achievement. Humans combined all their knowledge and brain power and talent and built this spacecraft, sent it to an asteroid a billion miles away, beat the odds, rethought our knowledge of the solar system, all before making the billion mile voyage back in order to get something that weighs less than a baseball into labs around the world. We were home.
It was, however, a strange homecoming. Coming home to a planet so different from how it was 7 years ago. So much had changed, as is the case in the information age. A globally connected world moves rapidly, and change is all around us â Nowhere was the notion of a pandemic, war, let alone the personal change in my life. Scientists describe samples like this as a time capsule of sorts, a look deep into our past to tell us what weâre truly made of, a unique and untouched look to how things once were. In 2016, when OSIRIS-REx lifted off, I was just starting college, a nervous wreck of an individual not quite ready for the real world. I was so unsure of what I wanted to do, I spent months agonizing about myself, my identity and the meaning of it all. But spaceflight distracted me, and ultimately motivated me towards my goal of telling stories and being a part of it. I watched this mission launch from my freshman dorm room, unable to fathom that 7 years later I would be at its landing, waiting with open arms for this precious piece of the universe to be returned. As the samples were flown back under the long line of the helicopters, a strange feeling started to creep over me. A great cosmic emptiness, a feeling that everything that I did was in vain, that despite my presence for this tremendous event, it was all for nought. This new fear, one of failure and regret, threatened to overpower me. I found myself far less social, drawing the curtain around myself â no longer as excited to be there. As we left the press site after a safe delivery, and said goodbye to all of our new friends, a strange feeling of emptiness settled over me.
My trip back to Washington was full of this line of thinking. I spent a good amount of time wondering about the scale of it all, feeling smaller than I ever had as I stared out the window of the ancient 757 that carried me home. The vast distances of the cosmic ocean, for the first time, threatened to overwhelm me and swallow me whole. Work quickly picked back up for me, and I made preparations to leave for the launch of NASAâs Psyche mission, a voyage to a metal world that alongside OSIRIS-REx, aimed to unlock the secrets of our solar system. But something still remained, this fear of the great unknown. Even as the spacecraft left the pad, I could not help but think back to the Utah desert, and the growing fear of the dark.
It was not until November 5 that I realized that this fear sitting in my gut was not some great eldritch horror. I was not afraid of the unknown, rather, I was afraid of my own change. This unusually warm November afternoon, I braved Red Line closures and crowds to catch a glimpse of the OSIRIS-REx sample, a measly fraction of what had been scooped up from this distant world. It was, in many ways, unremarkable. A grey rock sitting in a grey container in a glass case, flanked by models of the spacecraft and the Atlas rocket that launched it all those years ago. No longer was it separate from me, some unknowable cosmic entity, but a thing I could perceive. I did not stay long, taking only a few pictures before stepping out into the autumn breeze â but I found myself unable to go very far.
That fear, the one I had equated to the unknown for so long, was revealing its true form to me in that moment. It was a fear of change, a fear of the rapid progression of my life, a fear of growing old â where this cosmic morsel was already ancient. It had survived for hundreds of thousands of lifetimes, perhaps even longer than humans had been on this planet, and it had remained largely unchanged. It was so immune to change, until it was literally plucked from the heavens and brought back to Earth. And then I realized â the change that we enacted on this speck from space opens our world, changes our line of questioning, enables us to uncover more about our past. And thatâs what change is like at the human level, too. Without this change, I would not be who I am today, a person shaped by experiences; triumph and defeat. I would not have the ability to question my world, and shape my inquiry as I have without change. For so long, I struggled to find a purpose â often curious as to why I was even here. Truth be told, I may never know the answer. But these great cosmic moments in life, be it a rocket launch, a sample return, or getting the chance to talk to the people who will be voyaging to the moon, remind me that change is part of it all. Thatâll help me sleep at night, I think.

Manatee Treat at Jenkins Creek Preserve
Like two hefty ballerinas, with a swish of their flat tails, the torpedo shaped manatee cow and her calf propelled themselves through the dark waters of the creek, keeping time with each other. The sea cow lifted her whiskered nose above the waterline to take a breath, snorting a spray of water into the air. https://youtu.be/ITVHiaes8cY Video of Manatee and calf at Jenkins Creek Preserve by Sally White. Jenkins Creek Preserve Thereâs always that one place you drive past over and over again, maybe even your entire life, and you always wonder what itâs like. Maybe youâre too busy, have a car full of kids, or groceries, on a hot summerâs day. Thereâs always a reason, an excuse not to stop. Jenkins Creek Preserve on Floridaâs Nature Coast was that place for me. Iâd seen it from Swamp Festival days when they were held at Linda Pedersen Park. Iâd driven past the park in the early hours of the morning to catch fishing charters from Hernando Beach. I went past with a carload of hungry kids to find a place to dine in Bayport. Â I could see the fishing pier from the observation tower across the road - that I climbed not once, but thrice. I once even paddled past the wooden Jenkins Creek Bridge on my way to the tunnel under Shoal Line Boulevard during a trail paddle event. Finally, one day I said: âno more excusesâ and stopped with a friend at the 3-acre park nestled in the crook of Jenkins Creek on Floridaâs Adventure Coast in Hernando Beach. It was late afternoon when we arrived. Wooden pavilions and block restrooms painted in a vibrant Key Lime color screamed âlook at me!â against a blue afternoon sky. Lime green structures provide a tropical splash of color at the Hernando County Park. Image by Sally White Paddling on Jenkins Creek The parking lot sat empty, under the shadow of the $10 parking fee sign, but a small boat ramp beckoned paddlers to try the waters of the spring fed creek. Put in and go under the bridge to the main creek. Itâs a half-mile trip downriver where Jenkins Creek joins the Weeki Wachee River at Bayport to flow into the Gulf of Mexico. Itâs a muddy trek in the opposite direction to reach the Jenkin Springs basin, impassable in times of drought and low tide. Boat Ramp at Jenkins Creek Preserve in Hernando Beach/Spring Hill. Image by Sally White Fishing at Jenkins Creek Preserve A wooden fishing pier runs the length of the park, over the creek. Open 24-hours a day, 7-days a week for local and visiting anglers to cast their lines and try their luck. Although there were no fishermen during our visit, the pier can get busy on weekends and holidays. A wooden bridge leads over the canal to a shady hammock at Jenkins Creek Preserve. Photo by Sally White At the end of the fishing pier, a wooden bridge stretches across the boat ramp canal, leading to a hammock of trees with wetland views and paths created by intrepid anglers hunting for a better fishing spot. Bridge over Jenkins Creek. Photo by Sally White One of the worn tracks follows the creek, with views of the water, before taking a muddy detour into the wiregrass. How far to go depends on tides and mud. It can get buggy out here as well. An inland trail leads through the trees with views of the labyrinthine salt marshes beyond. How far you can go on the waterline trail is determined by the tides and mud. Image by Sally White This little oasis of land is the sole place to stop on the Bayport to Linda Pedersen Park Coastal Paddling Trail, a well-marked 1.7-mile trail from Bayport and the Gulf of Mexico and up Jenkins Creek. Paddlers must tackle the tunnel under Shoal Line Boulevard to reach the end point at Linda Pedersen Park, and the sandy area along the waterway makes a welcoming area to stretch their legs. Manatees at Jenkins Creek Preserve My friend and I heard that familiar snorting puff and spotted a manatee swimming up the creek. We followed it along the trail. As the land curved into the canal by the bridge, we spotted the second manatee- a smaller baby. A sea cow nurses its calf for up to two years, keeping the youngster by its side. So vital is the mother and baby relationship that it is illegal by Florida law to come between a mother manatee and its baby. Manatees are relatives of the elephant. Photo by Sally White The mom and baby slowly made their way to the bridge, their whisker-lined snouts spread out to vacuum the bed of the creek for food. The cow, or mother manatee, continued her hovering closer to the embankment at the bridge. These humungous herbivores spend their days in search of food. Adult manatees can eat up to 100 pounds of aquatic plants a day - 10% of their body weight - in greens. She paused from her eating every now and then to raise her grey snout and inhale a breath of air. Manatees have been known to hold their breath for up to 20 minutes. Her flat front flippers stirred up the silt from the creek bed. A closer look reveals toenails on her flippers- like an elephantâs foot. Manatees are mammals that are most closely related to the elephant, with their toenails and thick skin and snout, a condensed version of an elephantâs trunk. The manatee used its snout to vacuum her food off the creek bed at Jenkins Creek. Photo by Sally White The calf rejoined its mom as they turned to swim toward the warmer waters of springs up the creek. Although Jenkins Creek Park is best known as a fishing spot, the slow-moving gentle giants roam up and down this waterway and a manatee sighting is always a treat. The view up Jankins Creek by Sally White. Things to Know about Jenkins Creek Preserve Before You Go: - Jenkins Creek Preserve is located at 6401 Shoal Line Boulevard in Hernando Beach, Florida. It sits across the road from Linda Pedersen Park. - Parking is $10. - There is a small boat ramp and paddle launch, picnicking shelters, and a restroom on site. - The creek is tidal influenced. Keep informed about the tides when venturing onto the water in this area. Read the full article

I think everyone should have some version of this because there's so much to play with comparing real life timelines to in world events, especially if you can find a way to incorporate multiple different canons. BUT I have a version (that's only trying to account for the comics) where they're all vampires, and they got turned into vampires when they debuted, at the age they debuted. Except for Alfred, because I think it's more fun if he's the oldest of all of them, so I'm merging other earlier staff to decide his history.
The idea is that vampires have a natural camouflaging magic that surrounds them, which means everyone except for other vampires thinks they're human, and chalks everything up to them being eccentric. Older stories about Bruce and Dick are attributed to previous generations of Waynes, or people think they remembered wrong and shift the details later, or they think it must have been someone else. (This doesn't tend to work on aliens and wizards and such, but they don't always know what is going on, just that something isn't right there.)
So there's a growing Batclan that involves ever more vampires, only people think that there's always be a Wayne family that's that big, and they've always been friends with the Foxes and the Gordons etc. They try to account for the timeline in a way that makes sense to them, and fix anything wrong in their heads instinctively. But since Batman et al have been acting in subtly inhuman ways, not trying to present themselves as regular denizens of Gotham, the magic doesn't account for that part.
Vampires have to be able to hunt, and in order to do that they have to be able to stun their prey, so when they're in attack mode the magic doesn't hide them and make them blend in. Bruce figured out how to harness that to create a persona in order to keep people in check, and has been trying to improve his city ever since. It's not required to be part of his vampire clan, but since vampires are social, a lot of them feel intrigued by the idea of being superheroes.
An important part of being a vampire, as the vampire council has discovered over time, is that necromantic magic will slowly drive a vampire insane, and so exposure has to be limited. This means they have to be careful not to kill when they feed (much easier with a large city like Gotham, where they can bite tons of people), and there's a huge magical backlash if one vampire kills another, but it's less clear how killing people impacts the magic in other circumstances. No one understands how the Joker survives, since he does all three. The League of Assassins and other cults have found ways to hybridize their DNA with humans to make them less vulnerable, although this also weakens some vampire powers.
This is why they heal quickly from every injury, can levitate to some degree (e.g. to change direction midair), move faster and hit harder than humans for even prolonged periods, don't tire, don't have to eat much (except blood), have some hypnotic abilities, can see tiny clues, and have such impressive memories.
Dick always talks like he's super old because he's lived through all these shifts in popular media, and he misses old adventure stories, even though he can see more of the issues with them now. It's also why he's more willing to try new ones, because he's seen so many it's hard to stay stuck on one thing, even though he has his favorites. He loves the project of remastering old music, because it sounds like it did back then - but he still prefers live bands.
Jason likes the 80s, Tim and Steph have different preferences from the 90s, Cass is from the 00s and has yet different taste. Duke is up on current trends, but his favorites are starting to solidify. When they have arguments about it in public, the magic convinces people they're just into older music, not that they were there at the time. It's more impressive when they argue about TV, though, because they seem to have encyclopedic knowledge of shows that are hard to track down. It also impact their fashion sense, although they try their best to stay current and fashionable....
consider some kind of fae/immortal AU so ALL of the Batfam is older than they look - so Jason, despite looking like a teen, is very firmly from the eighties and hates everyone's taste in music. Dick agrees but he likes Big Band
Ok I love this!!!! 80s Jason and 40s Dickâis everybody from the era they debuted in???? That's such a fun detail. Please tell me you have more on this haha

the great adventures of y/n tommy and jack
requested: yes/no
pairing: platonic jack/tommy/reader
summary: jack and tommy convince y/n to leave the house
content warning: cursing
an: wrote way more than i intended to
from the moment you woke up your day was already chaotic, you checked your phone to see several missed calls and texts from tommy. still half asleep you decided to finally answer the call
âthe fuck did you wake me up for?â
âI'm outside your house please let me in. Some old man keeps telling me to get into his car, gotta go be quick!â
âTOMMY DON'T YOU DARE GET INTO HIS CAR!â
as soon as you opened to door you were met by your two friends wheezing
âyou should have seen your face y/n you looked so worried!â
âyou little shits donât do that again,â you said, scolding the two boys who were now crying with laughter.
the car ride was just as chaotic.
you were screaming at all the cars that were âgoing too slowâ and yelling at jack how to drive, despite the fact you donât know how to drive.
tommy kept putting his hand close to the steering wheel in an attempt to honk the horn.
âCARPOOL KARAOKE- AAAAAA..OH THE FEDS!â
âFUCK THE POLICE!â
âtommy, y/n, we are going to get arrested.â
the journey was then silent for a few minutes until your new boyfriend could be heard from your phone.
âhere we go lads!â
it was a miracle you all survived the car journey, especially since tommy found it hilarious to put his phone in front of jacks face as he was driving.
âoh shit..were at tescoâs?â
you must have zoned out during the car ride because the sound of tommy, finally being allowed to honk the horn, pulled you back to reality.
the three of you debated filming your day together, but ended up deciding against it, wanting to spend time together, especially since you had been busy going to college 5 days a week.
everything was going well until an announcement from customer service echoed,
âgood evening ladies and gentlemen, we have a teenager here named y/n l/n looking for their father and older brother, if you are them please come and collect them from the customer service desk.â
you couldnât help but laugh at how embarrassed tommy and jack were as they came to customer service.
âyou must be their...parent??â
âno no no no theyâre our friend. they must have wandered off and then got lost itâs their first time visiting this tesco.â it was around 1pm when you finally left tesco, but the adventure wasnât over yet.
the car ride back was another adventure, tommy spent most of the ride talking about how he found donuts for ÂŁ3, and how jack squashed them by throwing biscuits at them. it was only when you realised you were going in the wrong direction to go home you spoke up.
âyouâre going the wrong fucking way, home is in the other direction.â
âiâm not taking you home, weâre going to a lake!â
âYOUâRE KIDNAPPING ME?!â
âno weâre going fishing.â
âoh-â
âthis isnât a lake?â
âitâs a fishing shop!â
as the three of you walked in, tommy instinctively put an arm around you, keeping you close as the shop was rather busy, and you were already questioning exploring the shop on your own.
âthere is no customer service here and i'm not running around here trying to find you. if you run off- OH LOOK SUNGLASSES LETS GET MATCHING ONES!â
you raced tommy back to the car, âHA DIBS ON FRONT SEAT!â
âBUT Y/N I WAS THERE FIRST!â
âsucks to be tommyinnit i guess!â
time went by quickly, you were almost there. you spent the entire time bickering with jack about how you could drive better than him and how the road was too bumpy.
the sound of tommy yelling the word pheasant caught you off guard, causing you to flinch.
âcould have had it...â
âWHY WOULD YOU KILL IT MANIFOLD?!â
âheâs nicked the spot.â
ârival fisher?â
you suggested screaming till he left, tommy loved that idea however jack wasnât too sure it was a good idea.
âletâs run him into the lake with your car!â
âletâs do it!â
you covered your face with your hands hiding the fact you were crying with laughter, they would never tell you this but they loved and missed seeing you this happy. they hadnât seen you in a while due to the fact you were busy with college, and the times they did see you it was clear you hadnât been sleeping much and that you were incredibly stressed.
you and tommy went around hunting for sticks to throw into the lake. after a while you chose to sit on the grass watching the pair fish. you were just happy to be out spending time with your best friends, then you heard a train pass and were determined to find it. as you walked away, you heard tommy laugh at jack who was complaining about how he stole his wrap, and was trying to feed ducks sweet corn.
âwhere did y/n go?â
âiâll go find them.â
tommy ended up asking strangers if they had noticed you pass by, luckily someone pointed out that you went straight on and was mumbling something about a train.
âcan i get a ticket to go on the train please?â
tommy couldnât believe what he was seeing.
âmake it two tickets. I also want to go on the train.â
as soon as you both paid and were handed the tickets you grabbed tommys hand, draging him away before he could ask questions about you wandering off.
jack sat fishing on his own, arguing with ducks till his phone rang.
âIM ON A TRAIN WITH TOMMY BE BACK SOON- I THINK I DON'T KNOW WHERE IT GOES, MISSING YOU ALREADY!â
before he even got the chance to speak you hung up laughing.
âwhat the hell where are we?â
âitâs train time tommy!â
after a few minutes you realised this was going to be a long journey.
âthis fucking train is going 1 mille an hour bloody hell.â
you placed you head on your friends shoulder, it had been a long day and you were exhausted.
âoh fuckkkk i have work to do when i get home.â
tommy felt awful for you, noticing you were stressed and starting to get upset, he pulled you in for a hug. the pair of you stayed in the position talking about anything and everything until the train came to a stop.
âletâs go brag about our journey to jack!â
âheâs going to kill us.â
âworth it.â
It was a long day but you were thankful your two closest friends decided to make you leave the house and spend time with them. a few days later you had your exams, then a few weeks later you got your results and couldnât wait to message the gc.
yn : I PASSED BOYS!!!
tommy: I knew it!!
jack: nice one!
tubbo: does this mean we can go on an adventure?? I couldn't go last time.
yn: yes.

Goddess x Minotaur x human female reader
It takes a moment for you to come back to your senses. You are upside down and you can't remember why.
"Deep breaths now, Lena." You murmur to yourself. "You're okay."
Something warm trickles down your face and you touch your cheek and find blood. Your forehead throbs.
"No, I'm not okay," you moan.
As your brain clears, the memory of what you were doing filters back into your mind. You were driving, getting away from the city. You had no idea where you were going to go but you were feeling like having an adventure, and that's why you took the road that was supposed to lead to the next city eventually. Things were going fine until you took a detour on the hunt for a gas station. Your phone died and you had to settle for trying to read a map.
You found the gas station and got your gas, but somehow you took a wrong turn and ended up on a deserted road. And then you hit something invisible and tipped into the ditch beside the road. No really, it was like running straight into a wall. But you'd seen nothing in the way at all.
None of what just happened makes any sense, and being strapped upside down in a car seat isn't helping any. You know you have to get out, because what if the car catches fire and blows up? You'll become a piece of popcorn.
"If only I was younger and still spry," you snort, fumbling for the seatbelt latch. "I was never very active anyway, not even as a kid. I was always the slowest in everything."
Finally, you're free and you crash down, bumping painfully against the steering wheel.
"I was not ready for that," you gasp.
But that's not the end of your troubles. The car is wedged partially sideways and you can't get out the door. The other side is crumpled shut. The only option would be breaking the window or trying the back doors. The back doors seem like a better option.
You haven't clambered around in a car like this since you were a teenager and as you struggle to slide between the two chairs in the front, sweating and dizzy, you hear a seam in your pants rip. Wonderful. But you make it, scooting across and shoving the door open. Almost as soon as it opens, something forces it shut again.
But there's no one there. A thing purple veil shimmers right outside the window and as you stare at it, the car screeches and groans on its back as it's slowly being pushed back away from the purple thing, further into the ditch. Almost like two magnets forcing themselves away from each other. But the ditch looks rather deep and filled with god knows what. In a moment of desperation, you yank the door open and scramble through, stumbling.
Heat flashes against your skin as you fall straight through the veil into a patch of lush, short grass.
"What the heck is that?" You wonder aloud, dimly registering your car on the other side of the veil, making its final fall completely into the ditch, metal screeching and groaning.
You look yourself over but other than the small gash on your forehead that is still bleeding in a thin trickle, you're mostly unharmed, thanks to your seatbelt. The purple veil looms before you, rising a good fifteen feet and melting into the air. It stretches further than your eyes can see, like a wall protecting a piece of land. Or keeping something in.
It takes a full minute to get off the floor, but your protesting knees finally make it and you stand, staring. Touching it gives you an unpleasant zap and it ripples and hisses like a drop of water in heated oil. You doubt getting through it again will be easy. Instead, you turn to survey your surroundings.
You're standing on a small grassy hill overlooking a gently sloped valley. Between thickets of trees, you see roof shingles of buildings and streets of grey stone. It looks beautiful and you wonder how you weren't able to spot it from the road.
Maybe the purple thing has something to do with it.
"Miss, you're not supposed to be here," a deep masculine voice says.
You turn, and for a moment you're convinced you're still upside down in your car and hallucinating because it looks like a giant bull. But as your eyes drag downward, you see a normal broad-shouldered and muscular body of a man, draped in white robes like an ancient roman person would dress. You glance down at his feet and find delicate hooves effortlessly blending with more human legs.
"Dear god," you whisper, looking back up to the bovine head with horns that curve across wider than your arms outstretched.
Soft brown eyes stare warily at you, looking just as shocked as you feel. You take a stumbling step backwards (because who wouldn't) and nearly fall down the hill.
But you don't because a large tanned hand is wrapped around your arm, holding you in place. He's so much closer now, his massive head looming over you.
"Steady," he says in a voice just as soft as his eyes.
You shriek in response, unable to comprehend or understand or justify what you're seeing. It's impossible! Unfortunately, your shrill scream startles him and he lets go of you, stepping backwards with a huff.
You tilt again and he has no time to catch you. So you fall. For a moment you catch a glimpse of the sky, the deepest blue you've ever seen and you think,
That's fucking beautiful.
And then, you see and remember nothing.
When you come to, delicate fingers are fumbling with the buttons of your shirt.
"Excuse me!" You squeak, smacking the hand away. "What do you think you're doing?"
"Darling, your modern clothing is going to be a problem here," the culprit says, her deep green eyes flicking to look up at you.
"What? Who... Ow!" You clutch your forehead.
"You had quite the fall, Missy," the woman says. "My brute of a pet must have scared you half to death."
You try to sit up, fumbling with your uncooperative tongue to form an answer, to demand questions but she shushes you, a slender hand pushing against your shoulder.
"Lie still for a moment, Missy. You cut yourself on a rock when you fell down the hill," she tuts. "I need to clean the wound."
"Am I bleeding?" You ask.
"You were earlier when Icarus toted you out of the bushes," she says, coming at you with a small wooden spoon with something green on it.
"What's that?" You ask as she spreads it over your cut.
You feel a mild tingling sensation but no pain. You let your head rest on the pillow, watching her face as she leans over you.
There is something about her face that makes her look unreal, like that robot you've seen on Instagram, Miquela. It's got to be the lack of imperfections on her face. No matter how you squint, you don't see a single pore or wrinkle or acne scar.
"Are you even human?" You ask.
Your question seems to catch her off-guard.
"Is it not obvious?" She replies, the green in her eyes so deep it looks like you're looking at a forest rich with trees.
"Um, the Disney fairytales are about as far as I got. That and a pretty embarrassing phase of vampire stuff in my teens. But right now, all my knowledge is coming back to life, warning me that you're not human."
"Then you are right. I'm a goddess actually, given this realm to tend."
"Huh?" Is the only thing you can reply with.
She smiles. "I don't expect you will understand it immediately. I am going to fetch some suitable clothing for you so that you can bathe. Your modern world has left your skin covered in pollution. It's getting on my silk pillows."
She stands and saunters away, an hourglass of perfection, red hair hanging in slight curls down to the small of her back. You kind of believe her with the goddess stuff; falling through a veil and seeing a... You blink, attempting to recall exactly what you saw. The minute details have already been forgotten but you remember he had horns and a bull-like face. You squeeze your eyes shut, fumbling for the answer. Maybe you learned about it in school...
A minotaur. That's what he is!
"How is that possible?" You murmur to yourself. "I mean, obviously it is, I just saw it with my own two eyes. But how?"
"You wonât be able to figure that out if you tried," the woman says as she comes back in, something kind of silky cloth draped over her arm. "My advice would be to forget everything you think you know from now on."
"I've heard that before somewhere," you murmur.
"Doctor Strange."
You give her a wide-eyed look.
"The Marvel movie?" She prompts.
"I know, I'm just surprised you know it."
"Life gets lonely sometimes. I may have a realm but with no one to talk to, it turns out to be rather useless," she explains.
"What about the, uh, Minotaur?"
"Oh, him. He's the head gardener. I do my best to avoid befriending my staff." She turns and walks into an adjacent room.
"Come on, darling. The water will get cold."

I wrote this months ago hence why it might seem cheesy. I swear, I start off intending to write full-fledged stories and end up with one random chapter floating in my drafts. * cries over non-existent manuscript*
On another note, I'm going to start giving my stories their appropriate community tags, so take note of that.

When he meets you, he knows youâre one of them and thereâs only one way to survive - to kill you.

AUTHORâS NOTE: It is finally here, my part of The Hybrid Collab! I canât even tell you how excited I am to post this after months of planning. I think everyone agrees with me that the thought of Dragon!Yoongi is too much to handle. I had this idea in my mind for as long as Daechwita has been around now-it just took me a while to write it sksks.
Iâd also love to thank @spicykoreantatertotsâ & @yeojaaâ for betaing this fic and helping me with it. @kimtaehyunqâ Mags, tysm for designing this beautiful banner for me! Also; thanks for listening to my rambling and keeping up with me and this fic. It was so much fun cooperating your Taehyung into it, I love him. :(
NOW LETâS GET STARTED.
Running was all Yoongi had done for months now. Running away from those he killed. Running away from those who wanted him to get killed. Running away from those that held him ever since he was little, that taught him how to fight and kill. Running away from those that made him a murderer. Running away from Kkangpae.
Yoongi hates running (especially running away), but he had no other choice. He had to leave his home country behind and never go back, finding himself a new place to live instead. He should feel guilty, he regretted all his actions but by now, he only feels relief.Â
Kkangpae treated him like a fucking animal, like a worthless pet. He wasnât treated like any human being should be treated; he didnât even have a real bed.
All because Yoongi was a dragon hybrid, the rarest hybrid species on earth.Â
The lack of volcanoes in South Korea were the reason why Yoongi was highly valuable to the Kkangpae, because active volcanoes were one of the requirements for dragons to get born. As far as Yoongi knows, thereâs only one volcano in South Korea: Châuga-ryong, a volcano that hasnât been active for around five hundred years.Â
Around that time, the dragon species became extinct due to a natural disaster that Yoongi didnât know anything about - because he was still sleeping peacefully in his comfortable egg, buried deep beneath the lava.Â
Yoongiâs mother, a purebred dragon, died during the catastrophe, and she was not able to protect the egg. Because of this, his body was not able to develop the way it should have. His egg was found hundreds of years later by scientists. They used newly invented technology to develop the preserved egg and mix human genes into it. Shortly after that process was complete, Yoongi hatched.
Yoongi has never met another dragon hybrid in his life. Maybe he was the only one in existence, maybe other scientists created them the same way as he was created. Even if they existed, theyâre probably held the same way he was held - captured by some sort of underground gang and treated like shit.
Yoongi hated it, hated the way he wasnât even a real creature, that he was built instead of born and that he was sold to Kkangpae to be their guard dog. Even though he was a dragon, well he was supposed to be a dragon, those fucking scientists pulled some weird Jurassic Park shit on him. Did humans even believe in dragons? To most of them he was nothing more than a myth, some creature from a fairytale.
Yoongi almost screams in frustration as his memories hit him once again. The night he decided to end it all, to kill everyone he finds comes back into his vision almost every time he closes his eyes. Because hell, he was a great fighter, the best assassin anyone could ever train and he never failed an attempt of murder. Ever since then, his nights are based on either nightmares or hectic rides on his bike, this is why he lives on coffee and energy drinks even though they're too sweet for his taste, they keep him awake. If he stops to sleep, the memories, the dreams will return in full force.
During that time, Yoongi tries not to stop in motels because:
1. he canât afford them
2. he shouldnât waste time on sleep if he can spend them driving down the highway on his motorcycle instead, getting as much distance between South Korea and himself as quickly as possible.
As a dragon hybrid, Yoongi has several magic powers that typical hybrids donât have, simply because his body doesnât work like other hybrid bodies; he is born a dragon. Most of his genetics are dragon-like even though heâs now trapped inside a mostly human body. The only features that give off his inhuman origin are his eyes, green and purple irises, swirling around like lava, never resting. Some scales are splattered around his skin, but almost all of them are well hidden under his clothes - and Yoongi is glad that he can hide that feature because of the weird looks he would get if he had scales on his face or hands; no thanks.
That, and the fact that he can extend claws from his ânormalâ fingernails, which is quite useful in fights⊠and during other situations.Â
One of Yoongiâs biggest advantages is the ability of changing his body temperature to the extreme - whether itâs hot or cold. If he wanted to burn you, he could; if he wanted to feel cold as ice, he could do that as well. He used that power a lot back when he was a little dragon, not wanting to be touched by humans that didnât have his trust - not that any human has ever earned his trust - so he easily increased his body temperature until those who touched him left with blisters all over their hands.
People always think that dragons have the ability to spit fire, but apparently dragon hybrids can't. All Yoongi was able to do was spit acidic saliva with the ability to burn through all kinds of fabric and material (he even melted a spoon once because he hated the soup he had to eat) and whenever he was really angry, smoke would blow right out of his nostrils.
Kkangpae shouldâve known better than to train him until he was invincible. Until he was stronger than them, until he was able to ruin them one by one.
It didnât even take Yoongi an entire night to kill those who had held him his entire life, which made him Kkangpaeâs enemy number one. He obviously didnât get to kill each member, but he managed to ruin the leftovers by killing their boss, his wife and brother. The golden three, no longer golden anymore.
Which meant one thing: running away. Leaving South Korea with nothing but his motorcycle and never, ever, coming back. Yoongi doesnât know if he will ever get to settle down somewhere or even where to go next, he just knows that he will never be able to come back to where he originated.
He has been in the United States for almost three months now, after secretly hitching a ride on a very disgusting container ship. In the beginning, he didnât know where his adventure would bring him, but he has seen some beautiful places here. Yoongi even visits some of the biggest volcanoes in the country (he hates the volcanic mountains in Alaska, though, because the air outside is colder than what he is used to and Yoongi hates the feeling of icy air after a nice long nap in the comfortable lava) to spend some time relaxing his sore muscles. He just left his favorite volcano ever, the Yellowstone in the Rocky Mountains, a week ago and he really misses napping there, but if Kkangpae would ever look for him in the US, volcanoes would probably be an obvious spot to check for a dragon hybrid.
Now Yoongi is here in a cute little suburb that he doesn't even know the name of. Small droplets of rain are blocking the view from his motorcycle helmet and his gas tank is on low, so he decides to stop by the next available gas station and grab some hot coffee on his way to the bordering highway.Â
Yoongi didn't bring a crazy amount of baggage from Korea, because it's obviously difficult to ride a motorbike with an abundance of luggage. Instead he sticks to a simple black backpack with some clothes, money that he stole from Kkangpae, his phone, and an old notebook he uses to scribble down places heâs heard of during his trip.Â
Even though the gas station is quite empty, Yoongi acts out of instinct and pulls his cap lower into his face, hiding his shimmering eyes and starts to fuel his tank, looking around to check if someone has recognized him. Nobody catches his attention, until a girl on another motorbike stops to get some gas as well. Yoongi scrunches his nose, thinking that his bike was the only one in a suburb like this - because to be honest, he spent a lot of money on it, on spraying it matte black (instead of the bright teal it had before he ran away) and a bigger engine. It isnât one of the luxurious Korean brands, but a MV Agusta F4 LH44, an expensive ass bike that Kkangpae gave him for jobs out of their area.
This girl though, she rides a fucking Kawasaki Ninja, one of the fastest - and most expensive - bikes out there. He only has eyes for her machine, but once she pulls off her helmet letting her messy hair fall over her back and turns around to the gas pump, he inhales sharply.
Sheâs Korean. Sheâs fucking Korean and she rides a fucking expensive bike.
To Yoongi it can only mean one thing: Kkangpae. But, would they really send a girl after him, a powerful dragon hybrid? Probably not. The girl hums some unknown melody as she fuels her bike, looking around as well. Yoongi makes sure that she doesnât catch a glimpse of his eyes as he turns around to pay.Â
But the girl is right behind him, he can feel her body temperature on his sensitive skin and as he walks past her, he can smell something vaguely familiar. Thatâs when he decides to pull off a classic Joe Goldberg, waiting for the girl some streets down the road and follows her as inconspicuously as possible.
The girl comes to a quicker halt than Yoongi is expecting - simply because he didnât like to stop more often than necessary -, but heâs quick to park his bike and follow the girl into the establishment she walks in. Bread, Sweets and Treats, says the small sign and Yoongi cringes. Who would come up with such a name? Is the owner inspired by this one Korean band that has a track with a similar name? Yoongi shakes his head to get rid of the distracting thought, instead putting his cap back on and stepping into the cafĂ©.
She is nowhere to be seen, probably sitting in some booth further back, but as soon as Yoongi attempts to stride through the café, the girl behind the counter smiles at him.
âHi, Iâm Yura! What can I get you?â
He really wants to reply with ânothing.â But the smell of coffee lingers in his nose and who would Yoongi be to decline such a chance? âJust one regular coffee, black, please.âÂ
He pays quickly, just slapping some notes onto the counter as he looks around once more.
âThereâs a few empty tables in the back, go and sit down, relax a bit and I will be there with your coffee as soon as possible!â
That finally gives Yoongi the chance heâs been waiting for, strolling through the cafĂ© to find the mysterious girl and once he has an eye on her, he sits down three tables to her right. Sheâs on her phone, taking sips of some hot beverage but takes nervous looks around the cafĂ© from time to time and Yoongi wonders if she has seen him as well.
âYour coffee!â The barista smiles at Yoongi and places the hot mug in front of him. âAre you sure that you donât want anything else? You look quite tired and I bet some pastries can help with that!â
Yoongi tries to crack a smile, but he knows people are most likely afraid once they lock eyes with him, but it seems like that his eyes arenât anything that scares the friendly girl as he mutters a soft âIâm fine, thank you.â
He dares to take another look to his left, a silent gasp leaving his lips. There, on her right arm, is a tattoo of a dragon crawling up to her elbow. The symbol of Kkangpae, inked right into her skin. Yoongiâs assumptions were correct, she is one of those bastards and the only reason sheâs here must be to kill him. But Yoongi isnât one to have that, heâll be quicker.
Patience is key, he reminds himself as he slowly sips his coffee, keeping an eye on that girl as he thinks about that one night again.
Things happen quickly then, the girl stands up and leaves to go to the restroom, but as soon as Yoongi plans to follow her, an elderly lady goes in there as well.
He sighs, pulling off his cap just to run his hands through his hair before quickly putting it back on, covering his eyes as much as possible. The hunter's knife in his boots feels heavy, ready to be used, but Yoongi doesnât want to make a scene right here. It would cause more trouble than being effective - and he couldnât find out more about Kkangpaeâs plans in the middle of a cafĂ©. On the other hand, Yoongi canât risk losing her, thatâs why he acts out of instinct once she comes back from the bathroom.
She makes her way past his table, Yoongi stands up quickly to follow her - and once sheâs near the exit, he jumps onto her, slamming his full body weight against her smaller frame and smashes her into one of the tables, the wood breaking under their combined weights. His claws are out and he can feel his skin burning up during his rage as he snarls a low, âWhatâs your name? What are you doing here and where are the others?â at her.Â
She must be a tough one though, because even if sheâs scared, she doesnât show it. Instead, she glares up at him. âWhy would I tell someone that attacks me in the middle of a coffee shop my name? Fuck, get off of me, you freak! What even are you?â
Yoongi smirks, pushing her even further into the remains of the table. âMin Yoongi, I think I ruined a bit of your family business.â
Now, her eyes widen in shock as she tries to get out of his burning grip around her throat once more. âYou donât have to kill meâ, she whispers. âI donât belong to them. Not anymore. After you killed my father and my uncle, I knew it would be the best to get out of it as well, trust me!â
Yoongi laughs, head thrown back - and it looks kind of funny, because thereâs a little cloud of smoke coming out of his nose - before looking back down at her. âIâve learned one thing in my life and thatâs to never trust anyone. Especially not when theyâre wearing that cute little dragon tattoo on their arm. Sorry, but I guess you have to die too.â
An annoyingly high-pitched scream causes Yoongi to lose his guard for one second, giving the girl the chance she needs to break free from his grip. "Stop it, please," one of the baristas pleads, trying to calm some of the nervous customers down. Yoongi looks at him for a second, smirking as he sees the obvious features only mouse hybrids have.
The dragon hybrid snarls, showing off some of his sharper teeth as he grips his target again. "Don't you dare make a scene, mousey. It's been a while since I had one of your ancestors for lunch, you know? And I haven't eaten in quite some time." Then, he turns around to the girl. "I'm sorry love, but this situation is getting a bit out of hand." He uses his foot on her chest to keep her in place as he grabs his favorite knife that's been sitting in his boot the entire trip, just waiting to be finally used.
Fate isn't on Yoongi's side today as another one of the baristas yells at him, running past some other tables to get to where Yoongi is standing. Yoongi groans, pressing the heel of his foot deeper into the girl's chest. "You stay there, little one, okay?" She doesn't answer, just grits her teeth to compensate for the ache in her body. The mouse hybrid freezes on the spot, staring at the scene in front of him. Then, Yoongi turns around to the new voice. "What do you want now, I'm busy and I really need to go after this, so would you let me do my job, please?" The irritation isnât easy to miss, but Yoongi's patience has always been rather low and he prefers to get over this before the rest of Kkangpae arrives as well. "I don't belong to them anymore, fucking hell!" The girl yells once more, nails digging into Yoongi's jeans-clad calf.
âIâm the manager,â the other barista slash manager says, âYou have two seconds before I call the police. Get the hell ââ Yoongi gets ready to leave yet another snarky remark as a rather lean looking guy pushes her behind his frame.Â
âIâve heard rumors about your existence, I was skeptical about it â but anything is possible from where you came from.â
Yoongiâs eyes scan the stranger, thinking about how high his chances are to win another fight when he realizes that heâs one of the rarest hybrid breeds, not a regular fox but a canadian marble fox - which are often held for their beautiful fur. He has been living with one of those in the Kkangpae mansion, the fox hybrid was more likely the opposite of Yoongiâs reason to be there: Yoongi was being held to fight, the fox was a lapdog, bought to look pretty in the leader's wife's lap.
The man in front of him has similar ears, grey with black tips and his amber eyes remind him of the old fox as well. Yoongi tilts his head in visible confusion as he locks eyes with the man.
âIâm not one of them, my nameâs Y/N! Iâve heard that you killed my father, my uncle and his wife so I used the chance and ran off, I didnât know Iâd see you here as well, Yoongi! Please, just fucking listen!â, the girl, Y/N, pleads with tears brimming in her eyes.Â
âYoongi, is it? Listen. You canât do that here, I know what you did to those who held you, but this isnât the right place!â, the fox hybrid chimes in again. Yoongiâs head moves up and down, he doesnât know who he should listen to, but he came for this one mission: killing Y/N.
âShut up, all of you!â He screams out of frustration, the knife starting to melt in his hands because of the unbearable heat radiating from his body. Yoongi drops the now useless weapon to the floor, the weight of his boot no longer suffocating the girl beneath him. She coughs a few times, trying to suck in as much oxygen as possible, trying to relax her wildly beating heart, but Yoongi doesnât care about her right now. Instead, he locks eyes with the fox hybrid. âWho are you?â His voice is low, quiet, actually, because Yoongi doesnât trust it enough to speak up.
âIâm from the Kim lineageâ, the hybrid says with raised hands, probably to prove that heâs no danger to Yoongi. âTrust me, I know a lot about our individual histories.â Yoongi breathes through his nose, another tiny cloud of smoke leaving his nostrils as he finally steps back from Y/N. âKim, as in Kim Jiho? That canât be it. Youâre related to him?âÂ
He eyes the other man skeptically, not really sure whether to believe him or not. He doesnât even look at Y/N whoâs been standing but not running away yet.Â
The other hybrid's answer shocks Yoongi, his eyes widening as he sees the frown on his face, combined with soft ears flopping down sadly. "That's my father."
The woman behind the Kim hybrid whispers something into his ear, causing the man to nod as he looks back at Yoongi, but aIso at Y/N. "Let's just take this outside, we can talk out there."Â
Yoongi's eyes flicker between the hybrid and Y/N, then he nods slowly whilst pressing out a low "fine". Just as Y/N starts walking past him he grabs her wrist and pulls her closer, whispering into her ear. "If you try to run off, I'll be right behind you, ready to rip your guts out." As if to prove his point, Yoongi heats his skin up once again, burning Y/N's wrist before smiling sweetly at her and following the fox hybrid out of the cafĂ©.Â
The hybrid, who introduces himself as Kim Taehyung, offers refuge to Yoongi and Y/N at his secret bunker in the nearby mountains. He uses the space to hide during emergencies. It isnât anything special, it is a literal fox burrow with furniture which totally confirms the impression Yoongi has on Taehyungâs style: simple, yet elegant.
Yoongi is even allowed to eat some of Taehyungâs self grown variety of exotic fruits that he is extremely proud of. He smugly offers a dragon fruit to Yoongi who only raises his brows, a challenging glint to his eyes as he grabs some of the lychees instead and pops them into his mouth. âBut youâre supposed to peel them!â, Taehyung screeches, his furry ears twitching in disgust, but Yoongi only smiles and eats one more, swallowing the entire fruit just to see Taehyungâs reaction once more.
âMy saliva is acidic, I donât need to peel them. Iâve been eating worse things, trust me.â
After Taehyung shows Yoongi and Y/N around the bunker (it even included a shower and a functional bedroom), he decides to call it a night and leave the two alone (not without them promising Taehyung to not kill each other, he would âcheck in the next dayâ to make sure of it) and heads over to his own little cabin nearby. Once Taehyung leaves, Yoongi pulls Y/N onto the worn out couch to actually sit down and talk.
âOkay, so you say youâre running away from Kkangpae too, right? Why?â Yoongi raises the eyebrow that was cut through by that ugly scar.Â
Y/N swallows, trying not to stare at Yoongiâs distracting eyes. âI was born into it, I didnât choose that life, Yoongi. Just like you I was just a part of their game. Iâve seen people die since I was a kid. Iâve never been allowed to have friends or sleep somewhere else because my father was too âworriedâ something could happen to me. Thatâs why one of his coaches trained me in different kinds of martial arts from the time I was able to walk.â
She looks at the hybrid again, shaking her head in disgust.
âOf course I knew what was going on with them, why they were behaving like that and I knew that my father and uncle were the leaders, so there wasnât any chance for me to get away from it. I tried, really, but once I found out that they got killed... I didnât know you did it, because the second I heard it, I ran. You can trust me, Yoongi, even though my last name might be occupied by all your prejudices.â
Yoongi listens the entire time, not interrupting her as he tries to understand what she was saying. âIâve seen you when you were a teenâ, he mumbles. âI age differently than humans, but I think you were just around 15 years old when you kicked that one security guy in the balls. That was kind of badass, not gonna lie,â Yoongi smirks at her, eyes glistering mischievously. Y/N rolls her eyes at that. âHe liked my dress way too much. One more reason not to wear those weird things at all.â Yoongi hums. âI bet you look great in those, but I do like your leather pants too. Anyways, what leads you to the US? Itâs not the most⊠unusual choice to run away to. Wouldn't a country like Greece or Egypt be better? They must be looking after you too. I tried hiding in volcanoes but it was too obvious.â
The girl shrugs her shoulders, shivering now that the evening starts to settle in. âI donât know, to be honest. All those countries sound nice and fun, but I donât speak their language. America is huge, too. I wasnât planning on staying in this town, but now that I met you, I mean⊠We could run off together, maybe? I can fight and I know how to use a gun and Iâve heard of your⊠powers, too. You might know how they fight, but I know how they think. Us teaming up would be useful.â She shuffles around, unsure about how Yoongi would react.Â
âAre you cold?âÂ
âWhat?âÂ
This wasnât the reaction Y/N was waiting for. âAre you cold? Youâre shivering. Iâve never used my powers in this way, but maybe I could help you,âÂ
Yoongi shrugs as he slowly touches her arm and attempts to heat up his own skin in a way that wouldnât hurt the girl. Y/N flinches at first, but the temperature heating up her body is too comfortable to deny.
âOh god, this is amazing,â she leans her head against the headrest and closes her eyes. âI havenât been this comfortable in a while.âÂ
Yoongi nods, he understands that. The bunker is the first place he might be able to actually sleep. âIâve been sleeping in volcanoes, like I said, but I havenât really slept since I left the last one. Not that anyone could come in it and try to kill me, but after two days of sleeping and soaking in lava, it got boring.â
âI wouldnât even mind bathing in lava as long as itâs this comfortableâ, Y/N whispers as she drifts off into a deep slumber.Â
Once sheâs asleep, Yoongi removes his hand slowly and looks around to find a comforter to throw over her relaxed body. Then he decides that he finally deserves the luxury of a real shower, with real hot water (that he heats up even more), before snuggling into the bed and closing his eyes for at least a few hours.
The next few days went by like nothing, Yoongi and Y/N werenât really ready to go outside and face the world, so they stay inside the bunker to plan their getaway. They go out twice, practicing their fighting skills and helping Taehyung to pick some fruits (because Yoongi felt bad, he ate the entire mango stash in one night).
This evening, Yoongi prepares some food that he finds in the cupboards, some pasta and a canned sauce that he heats up in his hands, not bothering to put it onto the stove. Heâs at the point where he decides that Y/N deserves his trust, that she wonât kill him and heâs pleasantly surprised to have someone like that in his life.Â
Y/N steps out of the shower, towel wrapping around her delicate body as Yoongi plates the food on the makeshift table.Â
âI swear to you, my muscles are still sore from your training yesterday!â She huffs as she searches her backpack for fresh clothes. âCan I grab one of your shirts? One of us has to do laundry tomorrow, Iâm going to ask Taehyung how heâs doing it when heâs out here. But for now, I need something comfortable because I canât squeeze my tired body in leather pants and a tight tank. So, please, Yoongi?â Y/N smiles her sweetest smile, causing Yoongi to groan out, defeated.
âAnd what am I supposed to wear tomorrow? My old stinky one that I sweat into during training?â He raises the scarred eyebrow at her as he sits down in front of his own plate, starting to eat already.Â
Y/N pouts as she grabs one of his last clean shirts and runs into the bathroom. When she comes back, sheâs wearing that shirt - and only that shirt. Yoongi almost drops his fork.
Itâs not like those movies where the girlfriend wears her boyfriendâs shirt and it looks cute and stops above her knee, no. Yoongi isnât the tallest, Y/Nâs actually almost the same height as him - with more curves than Yoongi's lanky body. Instead, his âoversizedâ shirt ends just a bit below her ass. Yoongi would bet that if she bends down, her entire peach would be on full view for him.
âArenât you going to wear any pants?â Yoongi mutters. To be honest, he hopes she wonât opt for pants because⊠heâs just a man and even his dragon instincts think about sex from time to time.
âIs it bothering you?â Y/N asks as she plops down besides him, starting to eat right away as well.Â
There isnât much space between them and Yoongi can see her hardening nipples under the shirt that once belonged to him. He shrugs. âNah, but donât come ask me to heat you up just because youâre freezing your ass off again.âÂ
She quirks an eyebrow. âWould it bother you? Heating me up?âÂ
âProbably.â
Y/N pouts and turns away slightly after she throws a blanket over her legs, continuing to eat her pasta. âHow long are we going to stay here? We planned to leave for Italy, but when? Itâs getting colder each day and I donât like that winterâs coming.â
Yoongi stands up to go and wash his plate, not sure about the answer to Y/Nâs question.
âThereâs nothing holding us here. We could go and leave tomorrow, but we could also stay for a few more days, try to get enough sleep and take advantage of this bunker. I mean, would we get the chance to have such a perfect hideout again? Letâs use this opportunity for as long as we can.âÂ
Inside, Yoongi knows that he wasnât ready to leave just yet. He wasnât ready to face the world, not ready to be on the run again. âHow much money did you take with you? Wherever we decide to stop by next, we should think about a way to earn money.â
âI left with my card and packed some money from the familyâs safe before I realized it isnât that smart to run away with my credit card that could be tracked. I withdrew some more money and gave the card to a homeless lady,â Y/N shrugs as she dries the plate Yoongi has washed before placing it back into the cupboard. âI think I still have around 10 grand in my backpack, I really donât know. I didnât need a lot of money, most of it was needed for gas and coffee.âÂ
âYouâve been travelling with 10 thousand in cash? Thatâs kinda stupid. What are going to do if someone tries to rob you? Ugh,â Yoongi can feel the smoke leaving his nostril as he paces through the room, feeling restless out of sudden.Â
Y/N giggles. âAre you worried? Min Yoongi, the baddest dragon alive is worried about a girl that grew up with Kkangpae and definitely knows how to protect herself.â
Yoongi scrunches his nose, already feeling his skin heat up - but not in the magical way heâs used to. Nope. Min Yoongi is being shy.Â
âYou are worried! How cute! Are you sure youâre a dragon and not just a little lizard? One of those that live in the fields and kids go and pick them up to have them as a pet in some shoeboxes?â Y/N steps closer, gently bumping her hip against Yoongiâs before patting his head with a giggle. âWho knew that the bad boy thatâs one of the most powerful human beings is getting soft over a girl.â
Enoughâs enough. Even though Yoongi never had the chance to fall in love, to be in a relationship or build a real friendship, he has had more than enough experience in other things, having shared ruts and heats with countless other hybrids that has some sort of place in Kkangpae. He turns around, his instincts taking over him.
Puffing out his chest a bit, standing completely straight so he will hover over Y/N, Yoongi steps forward, breath fanning over her face. âDid you just call me a fucking lizard?â
His eyes are going wild right now, the purple and green swirling around even faster than the usual soft flow of colors. He growls, stretching his neck from side to side as he starts to feel his fangs growing, soon poking out of his lips.Â
Y/N smirks, tilting her head to the side, looking up innocently at the fuming dragon in front of her. âToo bad you canât change forms, huh?â She doesnât even get to add another snarky comment to her sentence as Yoongiâs body presses her against the rough wall, his shirt sliding up her body as he cages her in.
âYouâre acting like an ungrateful bitch, Y/N. Even got to wear my shirt like youâre someone that actually means something to me, yet youâre being bratty and annoying. I donât hesitate to get rid of people that act up on me, you should know that by now.âÂ
His hot breath fans her face and Y/N tries her best not to squirm under his intense glare. Then, she smirks. âYou wouldnât kill me.âÂ
âMhhm, youâre right, I wouldnât. Still, youâre being bratty and I donât appreciate such behavior.â Yoongi looks at Y/N, eyes still intimidating her.Â
âWhat are you going to do about it? Spank me?â She laughs, knowing that situations like this only happen in those new adult novels, not during an escape.
âI should, but maybe you wonât be able to keep up with it. In the end, youâre just human whilst Iâm nothing more than a cute little lizard, huh?â Yoongi looks at his hands, claws forming where his fingernails once were. âI donât remember lizards being able to hurt you, though. Wanna try?â His smirk is dangerous, but so alluring that Y/N just nods, not knowing what the night will bring for her.
Once they move to the makeshift bedroom, Y/Nâs knees start to get weak. Yoongi feels the change in her aura, smirking to himself as he stops right behind her, hot breath blowing on her neck.Â
âIs there anything you donât like, Bambi?â His fangs gently poke the juncture of her neck, not enough to actually draw blood but to make her twist under his touch.
âI donât think so, I mean⊠I guess I like⊠Yoongi, can you stop that for a second, please?â She turns around in his grip, cheeks blushing and lips parted. Yoongi cooes.
âThis turned on already? Canât even form sentences? Alright, Iâll sit down then and youâre going to tell me what Iâm allowed to do to you,â Yoongi smirks as he slumps on the mattress, manspreading to give Y/N the best view of the bulge in his pants.
Y/N rolls her eyes and sinks down between his legs, a dangerous smirk now lingering on her lips. âMaybe Iâll just show you what I like and you can take over from that? Figured youâd be one that prefers to be in control. Iâll go by the traffic light system if Iâm not okay with anything - or Iâll kick you in the balls, so donât worry.â
Yoongi doesnât even bother to answer as Y/N presses her mouth against his clothed dick to kiss it lightly. His hips buck slightly as she wraps her lips around him and starts sucking on the side of his bulge through the fabric. She smiles as his cock grows harder under her lips, but Yoongi is quick to pull her off. âI really appreciate your effort but are you down there to drool all over my pants or are you going to suck me off? I promise you my dick is human, not one of a lizard.â
She pouts, playing with the hem of his joggers. âWhereâs the fun in that? But fine,â Y/N rolls her eyes and pulls them down slowly, her nails gently scratching the skin of his stomach while doing so. As the waistband of his pants go past his cock, she is not even surprised that Yoongi isnât wearing any boxers underneath them.Â
âPredictable,â she mutters mostly to herself, but Yoongi grabs a bunch of her hair to push Y/N back on his, this time naked, length.Â
It costs her a lot of self control to not retort him with a snarky remark, as she continues to remove his pants slowly. Yoongi growls, but she just smiles up at him and grabs his heavy dick to stroke it two, three times. Then, she leans down to gently lick his balls, still not using her mouth on his dick.
Yoongi twists and groans, trying his hardest not to grab her and shove his entire length down her throat until itâs sore, but this woman is testing his patience. One of his hands is still on the back of her head whilst he uses the other one to lean back a little, just to get a better view.
âAre you done playing now, Petal?â Yoongiâs grip on Y/Nâs hair tightens, his claws digging into her head - and Y/N canât keep in the silent mewl that leaves her lips at the burning pleasure. âBe a good girl now, will you?â His voice is almost alluring her to do as he pleases, but Y/N wouldnât be herself if she follows his orders.Â
Their eyes meet and Yoongi has to admit that she looks perfect. Even though she isnât wearing any make up right now, hair still damp from her shower and eyes already clouded with lust, he wouldnât want any other person to be in her position right now.Â
She stares at his cock again, her own panties dampening at the thought of having it inside her. Y/Nâs tongue pokes out to play with his tip, tasting him and getting a feeling for the heaviness on her tongue as Yoongi pushes her down in one swift motion. A gurgling sound escapes from Y/Nâs throat, but she does her best to swallow his huge length, using her fist to stroke whatever canât fit.Â
âOh, shit,â Yoongi groans and throws his head back while trying to keep his eyes on Y/N at the same time. Her eyes are closed, lips beautifully parted around his cock and saliva already drips down her chin, even though Yoongi hasnât even really moved by now. âYouâll let me fuck your mouth, right, angel?âÂ
She nods as good as she can with a mouth full of dick, looking up at the hybrid in front of her. Yoongi hisses as he pushes his hips forward, losing himself in the feeling quickly as his thrusts get faster and sloppier. The sight of Y/N not only sucking him off but also wearing his shirt sends him close to edge quickly.
Y/N pulls off to take a deep breath and to wink at Yoongi before sinking down again.Â
"God, you're so good, Petal. Wanted to fuck that bratty mouth for so long now. Imagine your father seeing you like that, he'd die from the shock, his little princess on her knees to please the housedragon."Â
She moans at his words, fingers sIiding under her, Yoongi's, shirt, but the man is quick to grab both of her hands to cross them behind her head. He grabs her wrists as he plunges himself down her throat once more before he spills his hot load into her mouth with a loud growl a bit of smoke that comes out of his nostrils.
As Y/N pulls off, her eyes show the disbelief she must be feeling. "You⊠You taste likeâŠ"Â
"Cinnamon?", Yoongi smirks, his eye color now much calmer than before now that his inner dragon is somewhat sated - for now.
âYes, I was expecting anything, a double penis, maybe some weird forms or scales, but not cinnamon flavoured cum. Not that I mind, though. Tastes like that gum I used to have when I was still in school.â
Yoongi hums, stepping out of his pants now that they wonât be used anyways, his shirt following too.
âNow itâs your turn, petal. Let me see you,â he gestures with his fingertip, swirling in a motion for her to turn around, finally giving Yoongi the view that he had been curious about ever since Y/N came out of the bathroom with his shirt on. She isnât wearing one of those expensive lingeries that are nothing but lace, no. Expensive, yes. A sporty looking string is disappearing between her round buttcheeks, the rather thick waistband of it covered with the Versace logo. Yoongi hums, thatâs definitely what he had expected Y/N to wear, it looks comfortable but still seductive.
Y/N smirks over her shoulder, lifting the hem of her shirt teasingly but letting it fall down again to cover her butt. âMaybe you need privileges to undress me, Min. I mean, Iâm somewhat of royal blood, arenât I?â She gracefully sinks down onto his lap, arms wrapping around his neck.
A chuckle leaves Yoongiâs lips as he tilts his head. âDo you want me to call you princess now? Because I didnât know you were into that. Does babygirl also do the thing for you? I bet your bloodâs blue too, Iâd love to see that.âÂ
Yoongi traces his finger tip over her thigh, his claw teasing the soft skin there and Y/Nâs eyes follow it curiously. He presses down a bit, just enough to break the first layer of skin and draw a little bit of blood - enough to prove both of them that Y/Nâs blood isnât blue. âOh, too bad, not a real princess,â Yoongi pouts.Â
Y/n raises her eyebrow. âDid you just cut me?âÂ
âItâs not a cut, just a little⊠poke?â Yoongi wipes over the blood before bringing his finger to his lips and licking the drop off with a smirk. âDoesnât taste royal to me, rather muddy. But maybe thatâs what you get from living with Kkangpae for so long. Guess mine tastes like dirt too.âÂ
Y/N laughs, not even shocked about the fact that Yoongi seems to be bothered about her blood on his tongue. The melodic sound of her laugh makes Yoongi smile too, an actual, honest smile that shows all his teeth and fangs, causing Y/N to coo. âAnd suddenly you donât look scary anymore.â
Her eyes wander down his body, inspecting every inch, maybe to find something more dragon-like, maybe to just remember the skinship for much longer. âOh,â She breathes out, âYouâve got scales.â
Yoongi looks down at his stomach where some scales are shimmering in the bedroom light. âYes, I do have scales. Iâm a dragon, remember?âÂ
And to Y/N, theyâre beautiful. Theyâre not huge, not as dry or disgusting as lizards look like, no. Those scales must come from a line of beautiful dragons. They match his eyes, shimmering purple and green whenever they hit the light. But theyâre not only on his stomach, they are also winding around his sides and up his back.Â
Y/Nâs fingers follow them as she orders Yoongi to lay down on his stomach to get a full view of them.Â
The scales grow larger on his shoulder blades, probably where his dragon wings imaginely would be and Y/N canât help but kiss the rough texture. Goosebumps erupt on Yoongiâs entire body, skinship like this was never a real thing for him.Â
âFeels good,â he whispers into his arm, slightly ashamed. Y/N continues to pamper his skin in kisses and licks, biting the rougher areas here and there until Yoongi grows impatient and turns them around, growling playfully.Â
âLike I said, my turn now.â
Yoongi always has a thing for taking his time to please his partner, he isnât one for quick fucks without foreplay. So, he kneels between Y/Nâs parting legs, palms caressing the smooth skin that is covered in a few fresh cuts and old scars from practicing her fighting skills, but Yoongi definitely didnât mind them. His shirt has moved on its own, not even covering her panties anymore but ending somewhere above her belly button by now. As soon as his fingertips glide over the curve of her hips, Y/N shudders with a quiet mewl. âYoongi.â
âMhm, âm here, you look so good, Petal,â Yoongi whispers while kissing her ankles, her calves, and the sensitive area of her inner thighs. âTruly like a flower. You know that thereâs a flower called Dragonâs Breath? Itâs bright red and can survive in the heat like a champ, even their leaves are red. But I donât think itâs scent comes close to yours,â he hums in front of her clothed core, tongue poking against the wet spot on the fabric. âBet you taste even better, Petal.â
âYoongi, please,â Y/N whines, getting rid of the shirt by herself, the heat simmering inside her body is almost overwhelming. Yoongi looks up from the space between her legs, eyeing the swell of her breasts with a growl, muttering compliments again and again. He sits up the slightest bit to gently remove her panties - claws nowhere to be seen by now, even his fangs are gone and Yoongiâs just Yoongi, even though the arousal is visible in his eyes again.Â
He lies down, cock rubbing against the rough sheets causes him to hiss quietly, but his mind is somewhere else within seconds. How couldnât he with Y/Nâs soaking core in front of his face?Â
She canât see his mischievous smirk as he swiftly controls the temperature of his skin, cooling down his fingertips as he slowly and teasingly traces her folds.Â
Y/N yelps. âYoongi! Shit, whatâs that?âÂ
Yoongi laughs, holding up his unoccupied hand to her face, showing her how cold his fingers are by holding them against her cheek whilst the other hand works magic on her clit.Â
âUnbelievable. Warn me the next time,â she mutters as she sinks back into the pillows.Â
Yoongiâs hot breath fans the sensitive area before he broadly licks right across the flesh, enjoying the way her body jumps out of surprise again. âOh, oops.â
Then, he finally pushes one finger in, tongue pressing right against Y/Nâs clit as he starts doing what it feels like he was born to do. Yoongi eats her out with no mercy. Ignoring her squirming body and needy whines, he only concentrates on the places that bring the loudest moans out of her, massacring those until sheâs close - to stop with a smug smirk.Â
Y/N could reach her high by just looking at his face, red and breathless, but also wet from her juices, lips glistering in the light. Two of his fingers are still inside her, teasing her G-spot just as his lips start sucking the life out of her clit again.Â
Y/Nâs hands are buried in his chaotic mess of hair, pulling on it but also pressing him further onto her core until his tongue slips inside her as well. She doesnât warn him, too scared of missing another orgasm, but Yoongi also doesnât look like heâs about to stop this time, eager to pleasure the woman underneath him. Y/N screams as she reaches her high, hips bucking up from the bed, Yoongiâs head going with it, just so he can make sure that every second of her orgasm will be remembered forever.
He kitten licks her folds as she calms down; stroking her thighs, kissing her stomach while whispering praises. âFuck,â she rasps out, her stomach still heaving heavily.Â
Yoongi crawls up next to her with admiration in his eyes as he leans over to kiss Y/N for the first time. She can taste herself on his tongue, but who cares? The kiss is more gentle than Y/N expects. Yoongi seems to be switching moods from hungry to loving within seconds, but thatâs probably his inner dragon wanting to devour her whilst Yoongi just wants to take his time to make the night special. Y/N is the one to pull away, looking at him with dark eyes. âGet inside me, please.â
The hybrid smirks, tilting his head as he asks âHow do you like it?âÂ
âIâll show you,â she remarks as she pushes Yoongi to lay flat on his back. She climbs into his lap and sinks down onto his cock in one abrupt motion without even bothering to tease him.Â
The pleasure is overwhelming; Yoongi stretches her so, so good and Y/N feels so, so warm and tight around Yoongi that he loses all of his control over his body. His eyes are bright purple now, pupils forming into slits that remind Y/N more of a snake than a dragon. His skin burns up, almost too much for her to bear, but the hissing noises Yoongi releases are enough to hold on through it.Â
âFuck, sorry, wait a second,â Yoongi tries to push her off so she can cool down a little bit, but Y/N just shakes her head. She shushes him with a gentle kiss, careful of the fangs that now poke out between his lips again. âDonât hold back, itâs not hurting me. Be yourself, Yoongi. I trust you.â
Yoongi curses under his breath as he tries his best not to move, letting Y/N adjust to his size and the circumstances of his inhumane origin. Heâs never fucked a human, and even though theyâre not that much different from hybrids he knew that he didnât want to hurt her.Â
âItâs not only the temperature,â Yoongi groans, âI tend to bite and mark my partners. I donât know how your body would react to it, though. I sometimes say or do things that my human side would never say.âÂ
Y/N smiles at him, fondness blooming in her heart as she starts swaying her hips slowly, not breaking eye contact. âLike I said, Yoongi, I trust you. Iâm sure that youâre inside your inner dragon, that you wonât hurt me and even if I tell you to stop; youâd be able to. Now, câmon, donât tell me youâre getting all shy while your dick is inside me?âÂ
She tilts her head with a playful smile as her hands glide down Yoongiâs toned chest, teasing his perky nipples and playing with his beautiful scales. It was still hard to believe that the rarest, most powerful hybrid was right here with her, laying underneath her, sharing this moment with her.
âNow come on, Yoongi, wake up the dragon and give me what youâve promised.â
Yoongi didnât need to be told twice, hands landing a firm grip on Y/Nâs hips as he plants his feet firmly on the mattress before quickly pistoning up inside her. Y/N cries in pleasure, but Yoongi almost doesnât hear it, too lost in the feeling of her tight pussy around his cock. Heâs still trying to be careful, keeping his claws under control so he wonât actually tear her apart.Â
ââm gonna make you cum so good, Petal. So, so good.â
Then, he flips them around in one swift motion, hovering over her frame as he looks down at her like only a predator could. âMine,â he snarls as he licks into Y/Nâs mouth, hips moving slowly but so powerful that her body pushes up into the pillow with each thrust. âSay it, Petal. Say youâre mine.â
Yoongi grabs her face so she canât break eye contact - not that she would, who could look away from such eyes? Theyâre hypnotizing and Y/N is sure that she will do just about anything for him right now.
âIâm yours, Yoongi. Itâs just you and me right now,â she breathes out as she grabs his hair, pulling his head closer so she can connect their lips once more.
Yoongiâs hips start to stutter, his orgasm approaching, but he didnât want it to end just yet. Of course, dragon stamina is different, but where would be the fun in that? Orgasm control and denial is a thing that Yoongi enjoys here and there, teasing himself whilst masturbating, not letting him or his partners come and delaying their pleasure for as long as he possibly can. Thatâs why he pulls out quickly, leaving Y/Nâs core clench around nothing.Â
âThe fuck, Yoongi?â Y/N whines and glares at the man in front of her, eyeing his sweaty body.
He laughs and presses a quick kiss to her lips before he sits back on his heels, staring at her body as well. Her chest is heaving, fine pearls of sweat dripping down the space between her breasts and her legs are slightly shaking - all of that is enough to boost Yoongiâs confidence as he quickly pushes two of his fingers inside her, pumping them at a rapid pace. His teeth - and fangs - nibble on her nipples, pulling them slightly, almost crossing the border of comfortable pain as he fingers her through her second orgasm of the night.Â
âDo you want to kill me?â Y/N sighs as she catches her breath, knowing that Yoongi is not done with her for tonight.Â
He laughs again, fangs shining in the light and tiny droplets of sweat fall out of his hair as he shakes his head. âI could, but where would be the fun in that? Or are you one of those girls that like the thrill of almost being killed? I could choke you if youâre into that.â
âOh, I am into that, but not after orgasming two times and knowing that there will probably be two more coming. Is that one of your kinks? Choking?â She tilts her head in an adorable way - too adorable for the position sheâs in right now.Â
âMhhm,â Yoongi hums whilst tracing the sensitive skin on her stomach. Y/N jumps slightly, shooting Yoongi a playful glare before quickly jumping onto him. She sits down on his abdomen, leans over and closes her hands around his throat. âDo you like being choked too?âÂ
âCan you handle me fighting back against it?â The challenge shimmers in Yoongiâs eyes, knowing that Y/N is nowhere as strong as he is, but he loves playing. He doesnât mind if she wants to be on top, he enjoys losing control once in a while, but his dragon usually hates it, fights against it.
Y/N loosens the grip of one hand to slowly rake her fingernails down his chest, leaving visible lines. âIâve never said no to a good fight, Yoongi.â
The hybrid growls, hands balling to fists as Y/N tightens the grip on his neck once again.Â
âThis is so hot, youâre so hot,â He whispers, eyes closed and lost in the feeling. Â
Then, Y/N lines herself up with Yoongi again and sinks down slowly, gasping slightly because the stretch is still there, but it feels so good. âGod, move, please move,â Yoongi rasps and who would Y/N be to deny him such a thing? She uses both of her hands to sturdy herself on his chest whilst quickly bouncing up and down his cock. The noises that Yoongi makes are music to her ears, heâs usually so quiet, but now he doesnât even try to hide the pleasure heâs feeling.
He groans, grunts, hisses and even moans whilst his hips buckle up to meet her thrusts. âFuck, Iâm going to breed you so well. Youâre mine, Y/N. Gonna be my mate, huh? Gonna carry my chicks, all beautiful and round.â
Y/Nâs eyes widen at Yoongiâs confession, but she canât deny the arousal that floods through her body with his words. âYes, Yoongi. Fuck, yes, breed me.â
By now the biggest roar leaves Yoongiâs chest as he pushes Y/N off, to grab her hips and position her on all fours in front of him. A harsh slap lands on her ass as he pushes in again, pressing her face-down into the pillows. âI will, Petal. You could never want anyone else after being mine. Nobody else. Just me.âÂ
His hand finds its way into her hair, wrapping it around his wrist as he pulls her head back, having her at full mercy.Â
Theyâre both a loud mess by now and Yoongi is fucking thankful for the bunker, because imagine if theyâd go on like this in Taehyungâs cabin instead - the entire forest would be able to listen to them.Â
Itâs gross and sweaty, wild and not gentle, but both of them enjoy it way too much.Â
Y/N canât even warn Yoongi before her third orgasm washes through her body and the tight clench combined with her sinful moans sends Yoongi over the edge too - spilling his thick load into her with one last thrust.Â
âShit,â he groans as he collapses on top of her, pressing kisses all over her neck. âYou were so good, Petal.âÂ
Y/N smiles, nuzzling back into him and closes her eyes to enjoy the comfortable post-sex silence. Yoongi hums quietly, giving the two of them time to cool down - he helps her by reducing his body temperature again -, then he pulls out. âEw,â he mutters as his cum gushes out of her.Â
âCreampies are hot whilst youâre still busy with fucking, but afterwards itâs just a gross mess. Wanna take a shower?â
Y/Nâs way too lazy to shower right now, sheâd die for a hot bath but the bunker didnât give her any chance to fulfill that dream, so she just nods. âMhm, yes, but youâve got to carry me, you big lizard.â
Yoongi furrows his eyebrows before sighing in defeat. âGuess Iâll need to show you my dragon once again.â He lifts Y/N up easily and carries her towards the bathroom, just to have her at his mercy once more. And this time, Y/N doesnât argue about him being a true dragon.Â
Days and nights go by quickly whilst Yoongi and Y/N grow closer each passing minute.Â
They spend their days together training, teaching each other self defense tricks and talking about which places they want to travel to next.Â
They do sleep together now, not fighting over who will get the bed and who will have to stay on the couch. Some nights are a bit colder, which gives Yoongi the opportunity to hold Y/N close to his chest while slowly heating himself up to a comfortable temperature to sleep in. In general, you could say that Yoongi and Y/N act like a couple - though they donât talk about their feelings right now.
Yoongi has never been in love and neither has Y/N, Kkangpae hasn't given them any chance to find a suitable partner to spend their lives with. So how would they know if love is what they are feeling?
What Yoongi does know is that heâd protect Y/N with his life - and vice versa.
Cuddling on the couch has become a thing for Y/N and Yoongi and he hates being unsure about the whole situation, he didnât want to label them, but he is itching to know whatâs going on between them. So one evening after dinner, he blurts out âAre we in a relationship? Like, are we a thing now?âÂ
Y/N jumps slightly in Yoongiâs embrace and looks up at the hybrid, unsure. âI⊠donât know? I guess you could say so, we do a lot of couple things, I mean last night when you ate my..-âÂ
âOh, yes, I remember. That was fun!âÂ
Yoongi smirks at the memory of last nightâs bedtime adventures, Y/N trapped underneath him, her legs wrapping around his head as he ate her out slowly and teasingly, before he just pulls her on top of himself to sit on his face. Now he has not only her pussy in front of him, but also her ass - and what kind of man would Yoongi be to not use this opportunity?
âI mean, I would⊠I would like to be in a relationship with you, Yoongi. I trust you, I really like you and I feel like weâll be spending the rest of our lives together anyway,â Y/N looks at her hands and bites her lip in anticipation, fearful about the manâs answer.
âThat sounds like youâre choosing to date me just because Iâm the only man around you, Petal.âÂ
He gently grabs her face, giving her no chance to break the eye contact. This time, the green in his eyes is more prominent than the purple - a rare sight, but Y/N is still in awe. âI want you to choose me because you actually like me, Y/N. Not just like, but maybe even love me. I know we havenât known each other for a long time, there canât be love between us for now, but I can say for myself that I am really close to loving you. I want to spend the rest of my life running away with you, not just because I have to.â
Y/N pouts, eyebrows furrowing as she looks at Yoongi. âI didnât mean it like that, Yoongi. But if youâre asking this charmingly, yes, Iâd like to date you too, you big baby.â Yoongi growls playfully, showing off his fangs - which he knows that they donât scare Y/N at all, but heâs proud of them, so he shows them off here and there - and pressing a gentle kiss onto her lips.Â
Feelings change kisses. Kissing somebody that youâre now dating is even better so the new couple spends minutes kissing each other carefully and lovingly. Yoongi is just about to get Y/N on his lap as the door bursts open and an out of breath looking Taehyung stands in the living room.
âYoongi⊠Theyâre here⊠Rats, but they smelled weird,â the hybrid pants as he looks at Yoongi.Â
The dragon just stares at Taehyung intensely, before nodding. âThanks, man. Really. For your help, for letting us stay here, take care of yourself, okay?â
All of them know that itâs now the time for Y/N and Yoongi to leave, not coming back ever again because Kkangpae would always have their men here from now on.Â
âThank you, Tae,â Y/N bows slightly with red cheeks, still embarrassed that they got caught.Â
âGood luck, guys.â Taehyung sends them a hurt smile, knowing that he and Yoongi could actually be friends if their lives were different, but now it was time to say goodbye so Taehyung turns around and leaves as quickly as he came.
Yoongi sighs as he stands up and starts gathering their things. âTime to pack. Youâll do the bedroom and Iâll collect our stuff from here, okay? I think the next stop will be South Africa, itâs a long trip but itâll be worth it, Kkangpae would probably never search for us there.âÂ
And so, they do end up in Kenya almost two weeks later, the US long forgotten as their lives go on.Â
The trip is actually fun, Yoongi and Y/N riding on their motorbikes - Yoongi is even allowed to ride hers for a short amount of time - taking the ferry instead of the plane and sleeping at random places in the countries they passed.
Kenya is beautiful, the temperature is perfect for Yoongi and he finally gets the glow a true dragon should have. He doesnât look as pale anymore, random scales growing here and there on his arms and neck and Y/N has never found Yoongi to be more beautiful. He seems truly happy.
The couple even started to go out, visiting different National Parks and trying to find some volcanoes for Yoongi. Y/N knows that she could never go near an active volcano, but Yoongi swears that he needed them at least once every two months to keep his dragon alive - though Y/N thinks he wants to take a long nap in the lava again.
During their time at the Masai Mara National Reserve they met another hybrid, a rare persian cheetah by the name of Hoseok. He greets them with open arms and is friendly enough to show them around.Â
Hoseok also gives them a perfect description of how Yoongi would find the only active volcano in South Africa on Marion Island. Thatâs where the couple is right now, Y/N swimming in the turquoise water around the island whilst Yoongi takes, to no surprise, a nap in the lava.Â
Theyâre genuinely happy, living more relaxed and peaceful than ever before and once Yoongi wakes up from his nap and sees Y/N still swimming around, playing with little fish and looking as beautiful as ever, he just knows that he made the right decision. Sheâs the one he wants to spend his life with, have kids with and die with.
They have a good feeling that Kkangpae wonât find them here. This can be their home from now on. Though, they wouldnât mind the chance to discover more of the earth, travel around and meet new people.Â
But South Korea isnât on their list, thatâs for sure.Â

Heavily Public Displays

It was a Christmas party and everyone was enjoying the night. Travis was coming in and out helping move things. At one point he's coming in for the final time when Laura was about to come out and get him.
Someone had the bright idea to hang mistletoe at the door. It's been innocent or romantic kiss all through the night. That's how it starts Laura and Travis' kiss. Then it goes too far and they have to be pulled apart and reminded that this is going to be a pg-13 party.
2âŁïž
It's a concert, a fun simple concert and everyone was having fun. It was in the nearest city and everyone packed into cars for a mini-road trip and show. At the end everyone is dispersing the venue but the energy is still high and they decide to keep it up through the night.
They can do so once they find the two missing people of their group. Jacob is the one who stumbles across Laura held up pinned against a wall with Travis ravaging her neck. Jacob accidentally screams for some reason and scares them aware. They all head back to the group everyone wondering why Jacob is so quiet and why Travis & Laura are so mad.
3âŁïž
Chris doesn't mind summer romance, he thinks its adorable, but he asks if everyone can keep it pg, maybe pg-13 is allowed if its not too far, too long or too visible. This has led to things such as hand holding, chaste kisses and slight make out sessions. For reasons Chris and Ryan keep their relationship hidden during the camp season.
He expected Laura and Travis to do the same with them being separate enough with too many tasks on their plate, but that was wishing too much apparently. Abigail came blushing and running back with a few kids running and giggling ahead. When she explained he was so happy that the kids didn't realize what happened.
To be fair Travis and Laura decided to meet up deep in the woods. Unfortunately, the spot was still a bit too close to the nature paths. And even more, unfortunately, they're not, particularly a quiet pair. And Laura needed to be double checked for marks and clothing by another counselor

"WHAT THE FUCK!!!" Screamed Kaitlyn and Dylan
"WHAT THE FUCK!!!" Screamed Travis and Laura
Kaitlyn and Dylan had been in the building first, or so they thought. There was a dumb dispute in the house that Chris thought would be best solved with a scavenger hunt of all the damn things. So here they were looking for a damn garden spade in the big ass lodge house. Some music was playing over the intercom (for the adventurous atmosphere). They were getting to the second to last room when they nonchalantly threw the door open, why not.
How would they know they would find Laura riding Travis. The shock caused the lovers to panic to separate. As all four screamed. In a result Kaitlyn and Dylan saw too much of Laura, and then too much of Travis.

Product: Belosi King Sized Oak Decorative Bedframe
ââ
We are sorry to rate this bed frame two stars. My significant other and I were so excited when we saw and ordered this product. When it arrived it was the correct size and even more beautiful than pictured. The problem arose though only after a few days. While taking on more...strenuous activities the frame gave way and broke apart. Me and my significant other were almost injured and our floor is damanged. We requested a refund, but we recommend that others put some thought into their purchase if they intended to do more than simply sleep.

6âŁïž!?
Jacob, Emma, Nick, Kaitlyn rolled their eyes in frustration. Abigail and Dylan where a blushing mess. Obvious creaking could be heard in the room for the third time today! Third time, in general in the house!
"Are they trying to drive us crazy or go for some weird record?" Jacob.
"Ew." Emma and Kaitlyn replied.
"What should we do?" Abigail bounced from one foot to the other,it was becoming more uncomfortable by the minute.
"I don't care. Dylan and I have seen worse we open the door and tell them to knock it off. To like relax about it a little more." Kaitlyn said
"What do you mean you've seen more?" Nick asked Kaitlyn wasn't paying attention to him and Dylan averted his eyes.
"Okay everybody ready?" Kaitlyn asked and they all took a deep breath.
Her hand on the knob, and twist.
"What are you guys doing?"
They turn behind them and see Laura and Travis with coffees and no signs of recent sex.
"What?" Dylan
"What the hell?" Nick
"How are you two here?" Emma
"You're actually not fucking for once?" Jacob
"Then who the hell is making that noise?" Kaitlyn
And curiosity already had its hand around the cat's neck so she pushed the door open.
Nick, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Abi, Dylan, and Emma gasp in shock. Travis and Laura whooped with laughter.
In the room where Chris and Ryan pretty much undressed save for the pants barely on their legs.
"Jesus Christ!" Chris shouts, pulling his pants on quickly, while Ryan did the same.
"Guys!" Ryan screamed.
"Didn't think you'd ever be that daring Chris!" Travis called.
"Get out!" Chris gets to the door and pushes it close.
Everyone save for Travis and Laura still had their mouths dropped open.
"Hey don't laugh we were there because of you two," Dylan said to Laura and Travis who were still laughing.
"Well sorry to disappoint you." Laura said as she walked off.
"Hope you didn't ruin their time too much." Travis added and followed after his girl.
Dinner that night was awkward. No one was looking at one another and conversation was stilted. Only Travis and Laura were acting like things were normal. Whether anyone knew Laura was running her foot up his thigh, they didn't care to say a damn word.
THE WAY IM CACKLING LIKE A GODS DAMNED WITH RIGHT NOW đđđđđ
THIS WAS BRILLIANT!!
I wouldnât change a single thing you just wrote. Just perfect as it is đđđđ

FLUFF ALPHABET! Sam Winchester!
A/N: Hereâs Sammy boy! My small adorable baby! Let me know what you guys think about this!Â
-Marissa
------------------
A ctivities- What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?
Sam is a pretty laid-back man. When he sees a chance at relaxing with you, he snatches as quickly as possible. Whether itâs just walking or driving around towns, going to the local library (cause God knows the only book they have at the bunker are the Wizard of Oz books, and the men of lettersâ books.), to looking up fun recipes to try with you. The man will always keep you occupied!
B eauty- What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?
Sam likes that despite you being very soft-spoken, youâre nowhere near dumb. Youâre also very confident. Of course, youâll still ask Sam what he thinks if you piece together a somewhat bold outfit. But you might as well call him Bruno Mars cause- well you know.
I feel like if you are an artist of some sort, he might decide to pick up your art of choice as a hobby for when he has no research or hunts. Maybe if you draw, heâll buy both of you sketchbooks and pencils. Or if you use a tablet he might buy you a better one. Heâll try doing simple drawings to start off with a tree or two. An eye here and there. He struggling and heâs probably gonna get a bit upset with himself if his skills donât pick up like yours. But heâs trying really hard! If you like making music, he might ask you to play guitar. He might even ask you to teach him how to sing! But be patient, he can barely carry a tune but heâs so happy to learn! Might take him almost a year to get the hang of it, but once he does, he is an absolute Beast with some strings!
C omfort- How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?
Sam has anxiety himself so he knows the signs when one is coming on. Heâs been around stressful things/people/events all his life. His father was abusive throughout his and Deanâs childhood. When he ran away to go to college, he had to learn to interact with new environments and people. In conclusion, the man KNOWS what anxiety is. And how to handle it. Heâll have you sit down and close your eyes. He wonât touch you just in case it makes you more nervous. Heâll breathe slowly with you, serving as a guide to get your bearings. Once youâve slowed your breathing he knows you canât hold anything so he gets you a glass of water with a straw and holds the glass for you. He knows you probably wonât want to eat anything so he just picks you up when you say he can, and brings you to bed, and reads you to sleep while holding you close.Â
D reams- How do they picture their future with their s/o?
Sam knows for sure he wants to marry you. He also wants kids with you but the risk of being raised in the life he kept him up at night. Now donât get him wrong, he knows that whatever happens, family will take care of it. They always do. But heâs not sure if thatâs a risk worth taking. He just wants to have the apple pie life. Heâd kill every monster with his bare hands just to have that with you.Â
E qual- Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?
Sam is quite dominant in the relationship. He always takes care of everything for you. He doesn't buy into the stereotype that women should be doing everything for their partners. He tries to help you out with everything and he doesn't take no for an answer. You've known for a while that Sam's love language is Acts of Service. All he's done all his life is help people, so it just seeps into the relationship. Sure he believes that a relationship should be a healthy balance of 50\50, but at the same time, he can't help take over and take care of you. This man is just precious.Â
F ight- Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?
Depending on what the fight was about Sam would be pretty open to forgiving you pretty quickly. However sweet Sam can be, if he believes that he has even a pinky toe to stand on in the fight, heâll stick to it. Itâs only when the shouting has gotten too much for you that you walk away that he may see where youâre coming from. Give him a or two. That way you both had time to cool down. Youâll spend the rest of the day talking it through, seeing each otherâs perspectives. Even if you guys canât agree with each other, youâll know how to better handle the situation next time.Â
G ratitude- How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?
Even though he mostly does mundane things for you, you try to help out as much as heâll let you. For example, if you noticed that he has a lot of research to do, while heâs sleeping or is on a supply run, youâll continue his research so that heâll have more time to relax and let loose a bit more. You think he doesnât notice but he does, and he appreciates it. It makes him feel like he hasnât been âslacking offâ, or that he hasnât wasted too much time doing other things. Sometimes youâll even finish the research and heâll have nothing much to do for a while. Except relaxing with you of course!
H onesty- Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?
Sam doesnât have to hide much from you. Youâre a damn good hunter. He would even go as far as to say you were better than him and Dean. He knows damn well you can take care of yourself and that you donât like being babied often. He knows your secrets as well as you know his. It takes a big weight off his shoulders, knowing he doesnât have to hide who he is with you.Â
I nspiration- Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?
You were always an adventurous and carefree person. You always had a hard time balancing fun and work. Sometimes it got you into trouble. Sam noticed this when you two first met and as your relationship got more serious and tried to help you with the balence. By all means you arenât magically better, but youâre learning. Sam on the other hand, had the same issue. The work and fun balance is a tricky one to master. You help Sam have more fun, like you heâs getting better at having more fun. But again itâs not going to happen overnight. Oh and you eat a salad of two once a month now!
J ealousy- Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?
On the rare occasion the Sam gets extremely jealous, it's usually when someone tries to touch. Regardless of whether you let it happen (for fun) or not, he canât help himself. He wants you all to himself. No Sharing!!
K iss- Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?
Sam is a very good kisser. He always kisses you like he hasnât seen you in years. Most of the time his kisses are very rough but intimate. The first kiss was after four dates. Yes thatâs a long time but you wanted to make sure you did this right with Sam. Plus he reassured you that heâd wait as long as you wanted to. You were sitting next to Sam in the Library doing some light research since most of it had gotten done earlier that week. The tension had been building up all week, you were finally ready to kiss Sam. Despite this not being your first kiss, you hadnât kissed many people so understandably, you were nervous. You reached your arm over his and gently closed his laptop and angled your body toward his. You leaned over to him slowly, creeping your hand to his shoulder and finally your lips connected. Samâs hand softly grabbed your hand on his shoulder and you both stayed like that until you both needed air. That was one of, if not, the most intimate moment youâve had with Sam so far.
L ove Confession- How would they confess to their s/o?
Sam would be a bundle of nerves when he tries to confess. Heâs tried to do it at least three times but each time he either got too nervous or something would interrupt him. Eventually settled for being simple, yet intimate. He had invited you to come to the library with him to sit and read for a while. It was about an hour and a half of you both being immersed in your own books that he told you he was going to the coffee shop in the bookstore to get a coffee. He got you your favorite drink. He had the barista give him a sharpie before they made your drink, then he wrote his message to you and bought you the drink when the order was done. You could see Sam was shaking and fidgeting but you couldnât tell why.You figured youâd let him tell you when heâs ready. If only you know. You were only a few sips into your drink when you noticed some writing on the cup. Curious, you read the message which read;Â
(Y/n), I have loved you from the best of times to the worst. Would you do the honor of going on a date with me?
-Sam
You sat up, a bit stunned. You looked at Sam to see him smiling shyly at you. You couldnât do much but giggle and nod at the giant softie.Â
M arriage- Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?
Marriage is something Sam and you have talked a lot about it. You two know you definitely want to get married but the question was when. You want to do it sooner rather than later. While Sam agrees, he also feels like that it should be a sign of both of you leaving life for good. Sam is a very nostalgic person, which means heâll most likely recreate him asking you out and your first date. At the end of the night heâd get down on one knee and before he gets to say one word you burst into tears. When he finishes his speech, you of course say yes and the night continues...elsewhere.Â
N icknames- What do they call their s/o?
Sugar is used more often than not. Baby and babygirl are pretty prevalent. Honey Bunch is used less but when he does call you that usually puppy dog eyes are shortly behind.Â
O n Cloud Nine- What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?
When Sam is in love itâs less obvious to everyone, but if they know Sam, theyâll notice the little things. Things like Sam now has permanent smile lines and his shoulders donât hold so much tension anymore. If you didnât come on a hunt with him and Dean he always has Dean stop off to get a bouquet of flowers. Of course he gets shit from Dean but he still does it everytime cause he is a good big brother.
P DA- Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?
While Sam will let anyone know that youâre together (if need be), heâs pretty subtle about it. There is the subtle hand on your thigh or around your waist. Maybe a little quick forehead kiss but other than that unless they knew you, someone wouldnât be able to guess you two are together.Â
Q uirk- Some random ability they have thatâs beneficial in a relationship.
Sam has this really deep, rich, raspy type of voice. That makes him the BEST narrator ever! He often reads you to sleep when you two spend a lazy night in or if you have a nightmare. Heâs there with a book youâve been reading and he reads you a chapter or two before youâre out like a light.Â
R omance- How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?
Sam is the KING of romance. When he plans something for you, he goes all out! When it comes to making you happy, heâll do whatever it takes. There are almost no limits to his love. He lives by the term âHappy Wife, Happy Life.â. Sam is pretty nostalgic so heâll be cliche, but heâll be creative and add his own twist to it! So you could say heâs pretty creative.Â
S upport- Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?
Sam loves learning about your goals and helping you achieve them. If you have 5 different goals, he's all there for you, helping you learn ways to achieve them quicker. If you want to. If you feel like those goals are impossible to reach, heâs there to help you see nothingâs impossible.
T hrill- Do they need to try out new things to spice up your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?
While Sam likes to have a solid routine, he tries to keep things *spicy* when it comes to your relationship. Whether it's something mundane or outrageous, you and Sam try your best to keep things fun for the both of you.Â
U nderstanding- How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?
You and Sam know each other so well it's gotten to the point where if you or him need something, you know whatâs needed and how much before the other even opened their mouth. When this happens, Dean just kinda stares at the both of you with a âwhat the actual fuck?â look.Â
Sam: *sees you walking into the kitchen* Hey babe we-
Y/N: We need to get some milk today. You wanna leave at 11?
Sam: *goes back to drinking his coffee* Yep.
Dean: *freaking the fuck out*
V alue- How important is the relationship to them? What is itâs worth in comparison to other things in their life?
Sam knew from the first date that his life would be in your hands. He trusts you with everything he has. Whatâs your relationship worth to him? More than any diamonds, jewels, or power. Nothing can ever be worth more than you.Â
W ild Card- Â A random Fluff Headcanon.
Sam took you to an event at a bar one night for a date. The theme that night was â50âs and 60âs dance night!â He bought you a dress that would be worn in that era and he wore his brand new tux he bought, just for tonight. Just for you. Your feet were screaming in your heels but you and Sam were having too much fun to leave the dance floor. When you guys got home that night Sam gave you the BEST foot rub ever.Â
X OXO- Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?
In private, Sam will smother you with kisses and cuddles. The man can almost never let you go. The poor touch starved baby.
Y earning- How will they cope when theyâre missing their partner?
Sam likes to log in to your Spotify, he knows most likely wherever you are, youâre listening to your music. He likes to listen to your playlists with you. It makes him feel closer to you.Â
(Heâll never admit it but you have better taste in music than him.)Â
Z eal- Are they willing to go to great lenghts for the relationship? If so, what kind of?
Itâll be a close call but if he had to choose to save Dean or you, heâd choose you. Itâd break him for a while, but he knows his brother wants him to have the apple pie life with you. And in the end, heâd always do it. No matter how hard itâd be for him and you every time, he wouldnât change a thing.Â
----------------
A/N: Thank you guys for reading! I hope you enjoyed it. Requests are always open!
Spread Love!

Bittersweet Temptations
CHAPTER 3
[special dts: @bluewingedangel @siennamariia <3]
Your neighbors, Nathan and Elena, have been friends with your parents for years. Whether itâd be family gatherings or vacations, they were around; they were family. But when you return home from your final years of college, what will happen when you find that it isn't just them living in the house next door anymore?
_____________________________________
I wanted to say something.
I knew based on the long expressions plastered across their faces, that they were waiting impatiently for me to say something too.
But I physically couldnât.
A knot cemented itself at the back of my throat, suffocating me as I tried to swallow. I could feel my mouth suffer through a drought as I did so.
All I could do was look at the three of them, internally wallowing in embarrassment with a load of questions making my head spin.
How could Nate and Elena keep something like that from me? What were they thinking? No. What was I thinking?
Suddenly, the voices of people scattered amongst the yard became too loud. Though, the stares directed towards me were louder.
âY/n can you say something?â
Without even thinking, I felt my body turn away from them, and I carried myself away.
âY/n?â I could hear Elena calling after me.
âIâll just be a minuteâ I finally croaked back to her, relieved that I could finally get a word out.
I rushed past the deck towards the side of the house.
I knew in the back of my mind that I was being ridiculous. It wasnât something to run away from; knowing they probably felt just as awkward telling me.
But I had to get away from Sam.
I couldnât bear standing there while his smug grin could be seen in the corner of my eye.
It was driving me crazy.
Why does he insist on making this hard on me?
I continued to let my feet travel, not even worried about where I would end up. It felt good to step away from the chaos that my parents organized, for a while anyway.
But I soon found myself at the dead end of the street, in front of the wooded patches that lined the edges of the pavement; sectioning off the neighborhood from the forest.
Without any hesitation, I stepped past the barricading trees, and onto the trail that led to a place of sanctuary.
A small body of water sat on the indented ground, with blooming ferns and bushes fencing it. Farther away from the pond, large rocks collected together, forming makeshift seats to take in the atmosphere.
It looked like it belonged in a cheesy disney movie, or a landscape renaissance painting.
I found this place with Nate when I was little, and since then I would escape here when things become too much to handle.
I sat myself down on one of the largest slabs of rock, almost seeing the memories with Nate passing around me in the form of faded visuals; they were almost ghost-like.
I took myself into these moments one by one; succumbing to the laughter, the playfulness, the smiles, the thrill.
Even though I love my parents more than anything, the bundles of memories Nate and I shared, showed me a glimpse of adventure that my parents couldnât give me.
The overwhelming feeling of contentment pushed a smile onto my face.
But in an instant, it all faded.
Sam.
That one moment with him feasted on my conscious mind like a ravenous vulture. It made my stomach churn in the worst possible way.
I sunk my head into my hands, huffing in frustration.
That is, until I heard a few raucous cracks of leaves and sticks not too far from me.
I fix my posture while whipping my head towards the direction of the noise, only to be met with guilty eyes.
Nathan stood there, leaning his upper body on the stiff trunk of a tree.
Perfect timing, Nate..
My lips flatlined as I scratched at the corner of my forehead, âHey.â
He steps closer, leisurely but surely.
âHey,â he gestures to the vacant space next to me, âcan I?â
âYeah.â
Placing both of his hands on his thighs, he plops down next to me, slightly grunting. We sat there in silence; but it wasnât peaceful, it was impatient.
The both of us were longing to say something to one another, but neither of us preferred confrontation in the slightest. So we sat there, staring at the grove.
âItâs been a while since weâve been here.â
I look over to him, noticing the tinge of nostalgia sketched upon his features.
âuh yeah.. yeah it really has,â I release a breath, reverting my eyes back to the pond, âalmost 5 years.â
It was two days before I left for college. Screaming echoed throughout the house, and reverberated through my head, overwhelming my senses.
My parents chalked it up to being stressed over âmy big move,â which I can believe. But the words said that day pushed its way through me. I finally had enough of the nonsense and hollered back at them.
Big mistake. âyouâre an absolute failureâ They said, âyouâre never gonna go far.â
Long story short, I ran out of the house, and into the forest. I sat on this same rock, with tears planting glistening streams down my face.
Nate apparently heard the commotion, which wasnât too surprising, and he made his way to me.
He didnât even say a word before wrapping his arms around me; embracing me with a comforting warmth that slowly eased me back to normal.
âSic Parvis Magna,â He said.
I was more than confused with those few words, until he began to speak once more.
âGreatness from small beginnings. Now this isnât exactly small, you know, with you leaving me here to go to college and all. But it is a new beginning- your new beginning. Donât let anyone stop you from moving forward.â
That was the last day I saw this beautiful spot of ours, and the last time I really had a solid conversation with Nate; it made the final memory bittersweet at best.
âIt really hasnât changed a bit though.â
âProbably because change is dining elsewhere,âI tried to whisper under my breath, but unfortunately, he heard me loud and clear.
I look up at him in the corner of my eye, noticing his presence fall into a sea of guilt again.
He runs his hand through his surprisingly neatened hair, letting out a sigh that releases all of his proper posture.
âLook, y/n, I wanted to tell you. I really did. But itâs just-â
âNate all I gotta ask is why? Why would you keep something that major from me?â
I had my body fully turned to face him now, while he still remained there; slouched with his head bowed to his fidgety hands.
I could tell he was stalling, swallowing his responses with force.
âNate. Just tell me. Please.â
His eyes closed as he exhaled, âItâs a very long story.â
âIâve got plenty of time.â
âNot exactly.â Roars of laughter within the distance cause both of us to look at the trail leading out of the woods, âweâve still got a party going on, which happens to be for you, if I may add-â
âSeriously Nate, you think I care?â I was growing fretful, mentally pleading for him to just give up on excuses.
His hands raised in defense, âFine, fine, okay..â
âââ
It didnât even occur to us how long weâd been out here until the streams of sunlight disappeared from the ruptures in between the trees. The day was just replaced with the beginning of nightfall.
âSo youâre telling me that Sam, your brother...who was presumed dead for 15 years, dragged you out across the globe to find Henry Averyâs treasure in 3 months because a drug lord was gonna kill him if you didnât?â
Nate stifled a low chuckle, nodding along.
âSo I take it you found it and gave the son of a bitch his cut? Well, since heâs alive and all-â
âHey, language missy.â He attempted a scolding tone, but I could see through his thin facade.
I rolled my eyes, shoving him playfully,âHaha very funny. Now answer the question mister.â
âWell, it turns out the son of a bitch was Sam. He uh- lied about the whole thing.â
My eyes widened, âWait what? So the drug lord- the sole purpose of the treasure hunt..â
âYep it was all bullshit.â
I averted my wide-eyed gaze from him to the pond that was now lit with the blaring lights of fireflies,âWow. Iâm surprised no one got the chance to kick him in the face.. or balls.â
âYeah Rafe- he pretty much took care of that one..â
The both of us laughed, causing a few birds to flutter away from the branches closest to us.
I missed this.
âFigured Iâd find you two here.â
As our fit died down, we glanced over to a beaming Elena emerging from the trail with her arms crossed over her chest.
âI told your parents that you were cominâ over with us. I assumed you wanted some space from all the chaos.â
I showed my relief in the form of a warm simper, up until the realization punched me in the face.
Sam is gonna be there.
My body tensed, becoming a stiff statue in place. The lack of saliva in my mouth was back, and I felt my breath hitch silently.
I guessed the two of them noticed my change in demeanor.
âAre you okay y/n? You donât have to if you donât want to,â Elenaâs tone was gentle, as her grin faltered slightly.
âNo no itâs fine itâs just- itâs nothing donât worry,âI abruptly stood up, scratching at my forehead again, âlets go, back.â
âYou sure?,â I felt Nateâs arm fall over my shoulders, giving me a faint squeeze as the three of us trudged down the path.
I needed to take my mind off of Sam, hopefully I can avoid him.
âYeah..â my voice trailed off, âas long as I get to play a certain game that I happened to have the highest score of.â walking confidently with my head held high, I could still see Nate rolling his eyes.
âActually, Elena has since claimed that title for herself.â Nate said frankly.
A dramatic gasp escapes my lips,âElena, are you kidding me!â
âHey, donât get mad at the pregnant lady here,â she looks back at Nate and I as we continue to walk down the trail, âhow about this: you two compete to try and beat my high score.â
Nate looks down at me with the same contemplative look I give him.
âAnd whatâs the catch, hun?â Nate asks.
âLoser gets pushed or thrown into the pool.â
Well well well, Elenaâs finally getting in on our shenanigans.
I smirked, âThis is gonna be light work.â
âOh really now? I just know youâre secretly afraid that Iâm gonna win.â
âSure, Nate. Iâm not gonna lose, youâre all bark and no bite.â
It was his turn to let out a theatrical breath,âHow dare you accuse me of such a thing?â
While Nate and I went on with our child like banter, Elena laughed hysterically at our foolishness,âYou two are absolutely ridiculous.â
Nate glances back at me, only this time his fist patiently waited in front of me for a fist bump, âyou ready to get destroyed?â
I scoff, hitting my fist on his, âYouâre on.â

ⶠdescription: in this episode of unsolved, namjoon and the boys risk their lives by spending overnight in an abandoned and supposedly haunted asylum in the hopes of finding some ghouls â but the boys are pretty certain the real reason for the spooky moaning isnât allowed to go on youtube. ***warning: very scary!!!***
ⶠpinned comment: this is part of the not clickbait series!
âWell, this has been fun. Letâs go home now.â
You were starting to think this was a very stupid idea â but stupid would be an understatement. The looming asylum standing before you with nothing but the darkened midnight sky in the foreground acts as a foreboding omen that youâve seen one too many times in pretty much any horror movie. The creepy abandoned estate offering itself up as a seemingly perfect and totally innocent means of adventure for a group of friends only to end in murder or a demon possession should have been enough to scare you all away. Fortunately, youâre not the only somewhat sane person (and you say that very loosely because you did, after all, agree to come with the boys), because youâre both startled yet thoroughly relieved to hear the worried statement coming from a very tense-looking Jimin.
It really was a stupid idea. Spending overnight (which, really, just translates to a few hours and a clickbait-y title for the video) in a supposedly haunted and derelict asylum from the early 1900s offered all sorts of problems that werenât just supernatural. Squatters, creepy cult members, and risking getting whatever sorts of diseases are riddling the walls of the ancient dwelling were starting to get to you. But it was Namjoonâs idea to come here for his next video upload especially when considering the fact that for the entire month of October he and his group of YouTuber friends host a fan favourite ghost-hunting series titled Unsolved â and, whatever Namjoon usually suggests, the boys usually tag along with, no matter how daring or how stupid it may be.
âWe literally just got here,â Hoseok retorts as he hops out of one of the two cars you and your friends had shared on the way here. It was a three hour drive from the city with the estate being much larger than you expected it to be, four main buildings sprawling out amongst empty fields. At least the stories of its creepy atmosphere are all the same. Was it the cool autumn breeze sending chills down your spine or something else entirely? The moment you stepped foot out of the car and gazed upon the asylum, it was almost as if you could feel something watching you. But that was definitely just you imagining things. âDonât be a pussy, Jimin. Whatâs the worst a ghost is gonna do to you? Rattle some chains? Ooooh, spooky.â
âOkay, first of all,â Jimin rounds on the older boy almost immediately, âvaginas are the strongest muscles in female anatomy, so Iâm not being a pussy. Letâs get it right, okay? Iâm being a little bitch, and I embrace it. Second of all, if a ghost does rattle some chains near me, I will definitely be booking it back to the car and leaving all of you stranded here.â
From beside you, Yoongi snorts amusedly. Heâs the resident non-believer amongst your group of friends so you always wonder why he even bothers to come to these things. He says itâs to help filming, but you think heâs banking on maybe one day seeing a ghost even despite all that charade of hostility. Even now, heâs already filming for the vlog, getting shots of the building but also mostly just Jimin and Hoseokâs banter in the background. âIf a ghost does anything tonight, Iâll be genuinely surprised.â
âSomething is going to happen tonight. I can feel it,â Jungkook says confidently. Heâd been huddled over the opened side door of one of the cars with Namjoon and Jin, sifting through their high-tech equipment that youâre certain they just bought off of Amazon or something. âThis place is one of the most haunted places near us. Have you even heard the stories? Apparently there are two most popular ghost sightings. One is some girlââ
âIs she hot?â Taehyung asks.
âSheâs dead,â Jungkook deadpans. âAlso, pretty sure she was eleven when she died from tuberculosis. Anyway, sheâs more of a benevolent ghost. They say you can hear her laughing sometimes. Thereâs a lot of activity in one of the kidsâ rooms. And the other sighting is less friendly. They just call it a shadow man because itâs hard to see its face, but you can always see an outline of a person walking by in one of their treatment buildings. Thereâs even been physical attacks, with one person saying they got scratched by an invisible force.â
Jimin visibly winces. âSounds very much like a demon than a ghost to me.â
âSick!â Hoseok exclaims. Youâre worried to find that the groupâs morale (aside from yours and Jiminâs) isnât any less vivacious than when Jungkook started his story. âThis is gonna be awesome.â
But you canât help but to roll your eyes, your feigned boredom really just a weak attempt at hiding your own fright. âOh, shut up. Thatâs such bullshit.â
âIs it?â Jungkook quirks a brow, challenging you. Â
âWell, whatever happens, weâre gonna catch it.ïżœïżœïżœ This confident statement comes from Namjoon. After he hands out the pieces of tech to the rest of his friends, he glances upward at the asylum with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. âCome on. Letâs find us some ghosties.â
As the group begins to follow Namjoon towards the nearest building, Taehyung can be heard wolfishly quipping aloud, âTime to rock and roll, ghoul boys! And, er, girl.â
âDonât call us that,â Yoongi grumbles.
Itâs comforting to hear the rest of the group erupt into fits of entertained laughter, but any banter is quick to subside as you walk up to the building. Youâre relieved when Jimin decides to hang back with you and doesnât seem to protest when you start to cling to his arm as youâre all ushered through the main entrance of the building and into utter darkness only broken apart by the dim glow of your flashlights. If you werenât already so frightened, maybe some of it would be comical, like the way the front doors creak open so very slowly in suspense.
Under Jiminâs breath, you can hear him mumbling in chagrin, âWe should have gotten holy water.â
As your eyes adjust to the darkness within, youâre able to make out that the inside is just as horrifying as it was on the outside. Dust and debris hang heavy in the air and on the ground, and almost every inch of any surface within the building is covered in graffiti works of art.Â
âOh, fuck that,â Jin scoffs. âWe only just stepped foot into here and this place is already giving me goosebumps.â
âAw, sweet, bro! Check this out!â Hoseok says abruptly, startling almost all of you. Heâs standing a bit further off down one hall, beckoning the rest of the group to follow. As you approach him, you can make out what sort of graffiti marking on the ground has suddenly grabbed his attention. âWho wants to lay on the pentagram with me?â
âNo one,â You retort.
âI will!â Jungkook says at once, much to your dismay.
Yoongi lets out an audible strained sigh. âIf any of you fucks get possessed and kill me, Iâm never gonna forgive any of you. Just letting you know ahead of time.â
âYeah, what are you gonna do?â Hoseok asks. âCome back and haunt us?â
âNo, Iâll be dead. Ghosts arenât real,â Yoongi says. âBut I will still be very angry.â
âNoted.â
Before Jungkook or Hoseok can haggle Yoongi into filming them laying on the pentagram drawing and potentially offering their souls up to whatever demon lays waiting beneath it for their souls, the group is moving on. You explore the first bottom half of the building together in a tense silence before making your way up the dilapidated stairs to one of the treatment rooms that Jungkook makes certain to point out is where the infamous shadow figure is often seen. Taehyung decides to suggest, âShould we try the spirit box?â
You almost groan aloud. You fucking hate that thing, for obvious reasons.Â
Whether or not you believe in it, the loud gurgling noise is always unsettling and youâre already on edge. Still, you sit back with Jimin as the rest of the boys nod in agreement and fiddle with the piece of tech until itâs been turned on. Youâre immediately met with a cacophony of crackling radio static so deafening that your instinctual reaction is to cover your ears. You refrain miraculously, but you still cower in one corner with Jimin as the boys listen intently to the noise.
âIs anyone here?â Namjoon calls out to no one in particular. âIf you are, can you give us a sign? Move a chair or say something or push Yoongiââ
âWhat theâ?â Yoongi gawks. âWhy me?â
ââCause you said you donât believe in them.â
Yoongi clamps his mouth shut, and nods in a way that admits Namjoon has a point. At that moment, thereâs a pique in the static, a jumble of inaudible words that almost sounds humanlike.
âWhat was that?â Hoseok asks. âSounded like⊠It almost sounded like it said âleave.ââ
âLeave?â Jimin squeaks. âThink we should take that as a sign, guys.â
âNah, I definitely heard Steve, not leave,â Yoongi says.
Jungkook frowns. âWho the hell is Steve?â
âMaybe thatâs his name,â Yoongi suggests nonchalantly. âBe nice.â
After a handful of minutes of even more strained silence, the boys are only able to discern certain words that youâre positive donât have anything to do with the asylum or ghosts. At long last, they shut the machine off and the room is once more plunged into a formidable silence so dense that you almost miss the spirit box. But almost as soon as the piece of tech has been silenced, does Jimin cry out in pure anguish. âWhat the fuck was that?â
The boys instantly round on their startled friend who is now cowering behind you. The colour has all but drained from his face, eyes wide in a frenzied panic.
âWhatâs wrong?â Namjoon asks.
Jimin looks hysterical as he shoves a pointed finger in the direction of the wall opposite the room in the corridor. âI swear on my life I just saw something move out of the corner of my eye over there. Like a-a person o-or something. Looked like a shadow. I donât know! I thought it was one of you guysââ
âStop it, Jimin.â Your voice treads on apprehension as you look over at the alarmed boy. âYouâre scaring me.â
âYeah, ease up, Jimin,â Namjoon says, though he seems more entertained than anything. âIâd prefer if you didnât throw my girlfriend headfirst towards a demon or ghost or whatever it is you saw.â
âJoon.â His name rolls off your tongue in a scolding moan as you rub wearily at your eyes. His words do little to help console you, and youâre certain it fairs even worse for poor Jimin.
âIâm sorry. I justââ Jimin pulls you tighter in front of him. âI swear I saw something. Holy shit.â
Jungkookâs the first one outside the room, his own camera in his hands as he goes to investigate. As the rest of the boys file outside in the corridor, you drag Jimin along with you, favouring not to be alone in any part of the building. You can hardly see anything, let alone a shadow.Â
Jungkook turns back around at long last, a devious grin on his face as he finds Jiminâs wandering crazed stare. âMaybe it was the shadow man. Told you he exists.â
âI donât care what it was. My heart almost fell out of my ass,â Jimin gasps. He clutches at his chest over his heart, for added emphasis. âLetâs get out of here.â
You arenât quite sure if the boys believe him, but you do notice how quick they are to move on from the room and corridor. A palpable tension hangs heavy in the air that makes you realize perhaps the boys are starting to lose their cool under pressure.Â
As you reconvene below on the main floor of the building, Namjoon pipes up. âLetâs split up. See if we can find anything on our own.â
âOkay, Scooby Doo,â Jin snorts. âYou do know that this is how every horror movie begins, right? Thereâs power in numbers.â
âYeah. Which is what weâll all be saying when this video reaches trending on YouTube with a million views,â Namjoon says, matter-of-fact. âWhich we can only do if we get some interesting content. So, letâs split up into pairs of two. Weâll meet back here in an hour.â
âWe could just fake it,â Jimin suggests desperately. âLike every big YouTuber does. The magic of editing, guys.â But no one seems to be listening anymore as the group begins to splinter off. Yoongi and Jungkook decide to venture back upstairs in pursuit of the elusive and supposed shadow man, while Hoseok and Taehyung wander outside. Lost and dumbfounded, Jimin gawks around at his retreating friends, calling out in one last effort, âAnyone? âŠNo? Okay, cool.â
He nearly lets out a yelp when Jin clasps a hand on the boyâs shoulder in a reassuring manner. âYouâll be okay, Jimin. Câmon, letâs go.â
Finally alone with Namjoon, he offers up his outstretched hand to you. You take it at once, gripping his palm a little tighter than necessary as he pulls you towards him.Â
âYou doing okay?â he asks.Â
âYeah,â You lie, even though you know he can see right through it.Â
Youâre content to find that he at least keeps your hand in his even as he tugs you along with him to explore the rest of the asylum. You decide to leave the building youâre both in and wander to another one where you stumble upon Hoseok and Taehyung on the main floor briefly. Then, making your way upstairs, you find nothing out of the ordinary but empty rooms that you suspect were once upon a time sleeping quarters for the patients. Itâs less frightening than the other buildings, though still a little unnerving the longer you stay to explore. You climb the stairs until youâre on the third landing and inspect almost every room to find nothing.Â
At some point, you let out a wavering sigh. Namjoon is busy waving around an EMF reader in a room. Itâs empty aside from a dusty cot and a broken wardrobe, amongst a few other oddities covered in a thick layer of cobwebs and dirt. You could have sworn youâve heard footsteps in almost every room youâve entered that wasnât either yours or Namjoons, and the strange sensation that youâre being followed hasnât been able to shake from you. âJoon? Can we go back now? Iâm starting to get a little spooked.â
Namjoon comes to a halt at once, turning around to face you. He gives your palm a comforting squeeze. âHey, youâre okay. Thereâs nothing to be scared of. I donât mean to sound like Yoongi but I highly doubt we have to worry about any ghosts.â
âWell, what do you think Jimin saw?â
âWho knows?â Namjoon shrugs. âIt was probably just his imagination. Your mind plays tricks on you in the dark, doesnât it? Here, letâs talk about something else to distract you.â
âLike?â
A moment of silence passes between the two of you as Namjoon considers another thought. You donât even realize the smug smirk unfurling on his face until itâs too late. âWell⊠I had an idea earlier. Just a passing thought, really, but I bet itâd be fun anyway.â
âWhat was it?â
âWe could probably have a quickie in one of these rooms and the boys would never know any different.â
You nearly choke at this, sputtering for air as you reach out to flick Namjoonâs shoulder. âYouâre unbelievable.â
âAm I wrong?â
âNo,â You admit sheepishly. He places his hands on your hips then, pulling you delicately towards him in a manner that makes it hard to focus now. âBut I donât know how I feel about ghosts watching us. Also, the couple that has sex in any horror movie usually ends up dying first.â
Namjoon shakes his head at you, albeit a little amused at your worrisome thoughts. âNothingâs gonna hurt you. At least not while Iâm here.â
âComing from the man who tripped going up the stairs at your dorm the other day,â You point out tauntingly. The distant reminder and the sound of his abrupt laughter is enough to momentarily soothe your hammering heart.Â
Namjoon gasps, feigning a look of mock hurt. âWhatâs that supposed to mean!â
âMeans I love you very much but I donât know how well youâd fair against ghosts or demons.â
âAhh, I see how it is.âÂ
He sounds mildly offended and pokes his fingers at your sides but, in the ensuing scuffle to flee from his grasp, the both of you trip and fumble until youâre pressed up against the nearest wall, the sound of your snickers like music to his ears. He comes colliding against your front, hands digging into your hips. He leans forward to kiss your lips slowly, feeling you smile against him. A delightful chuckle bubbles at your mouth and he parts from you in the next moment wiggling his brows suggestively while a teasing smirk stretches at his face so wide, his dimples start to poke through.
âWanna?â he asks.Â
Itâs a simple question, weighing heavy with dirty implications â and honestly? Youâre kind of into it. Or maybe thatâs just because he returns to kissing at your lips, only this time at the corners of your mouth, then the underside of your jaw. Tantalizing motions that seem to make your head spin violently. Your head lolls back against the wall behind you as he droops his head to your neck, lips meeting with the soft flesh of your throat to suck a delicate blossoming hickey there.
âOkay,â You rasp, âso maybe we can spare some time for this.â
âAh, so now youâre interested.â His voice is huskier now, muffled by the way he busies himself by nipping at the same spot on your throat. He hears your breath hitch, feels the way you part your legs just slightly enough to have him sink further against you. He marvels at your decision in the morning to throw on a skirt and a pair of thick wool tights. At the time, you had said it was because the weather wasnât too brisk outside just yet; now, he was thanking you silently for unknowingly picking just the right outfit for the occasion.Â
âNamjoonâŠâ Your voice is strained now, a mix between a plea and a whine and he grunts against your neck.
It takes Namjoon a moment to rack his brain, realizing that he finds it hard to even form a proper sentence anymore. âDonât even need to feel my dick in you. Just wanna get you off, baby. Can I?â
Youâre already practically drooling. âThink the boys will notice if weâre gone a little longer?âÂ
âWho cares?â Namjoon quips. âJiminâll probably think we got possessed and lost in the demon world or something.â
You giggle, though your voice splinters off into a soft moan as he continues to nip and suck at your neck. His hand falls to your thighs then, fingers brushing upward faintly until he meets the short hem of your skirt before disappearing beneath it. His hand comes to grasp at the delicate curve of your ass, his palm hot and firm against your soft flesh.Â
He groans into your neck. âBeen dying all night to touch you.â
âThen donât stop.â
If the way his hardening cock now forms against your inner thigh any inclination, you donât think he has plans on doing so. Instead, you watch as he lifts his free hand to your mouth, fingers tapping at your lips in a wordless motion. âOpen up.â
You do as youâre told, lips parting just enough to wrap around his two fingers. He gazes at you with hooded eyes as you suck at his digits, tongue laving against the sturdy form in your mouth until his fingers are coated thick with your saliva. His other hand, still attached to the rump of your ass, moves like water over your skin to your thigh once more, nudging you aside just enough, pinching delicately at the skin there; he pulls his fingers from your mouth then, then lets the same hand venture under your skirt in a similar fashion. He wastes no time in pushing aside the material of your panties, pressing his digits at your core, watchful eyes staying fixated on yours if only to watch your every expression. His dampened fingers slide over your folds, spreading them open, running across them, admiring the way your stickiness already forms between your legs.Â
âJoonâŠâ You cling to him tighter, both to steady yourself against the sudden ministrations and to shield yourself more from view, though youâre certain thereâs a slim chance the boys will come across you and Namjoon like this. You hope.
Namjoonâs fingers slip past your folds then, slow and steady as he feels the tight constricting walls of your cunt. You throb around him, thinking only of his cock, imagining the girth of it fitting snug deep within you. The similar stretch of your walls, the fluid motion of his length burrowing in and out of you, wrecking you into shambles. Now, Namjoon wriggles his fingers upward, scratching at a spot within you that has you writhing against him, the slick wetness of your arousal sufficiently coating his fingers. His thumb finds your clit then, running small circles against the small bundle of nerves.
âSo wet,â Namjoon moans, resting his forehead against yours. He notes the way your teeth sink into your lower lip, and pulls his free hand out from under your skirt to tap his fingers against your chin. âGonna moan for me, baby? Let the boys hear you? Maybe wake the dead?â
âYouâre such a brat,â You simper through a shuddering breath, and if you werenât so consumed by him then maybe you would have laughed at the joke he manages to squeeze in at the last moment. But heâs not wrong. Whatâs the point in keeping silent in an abandoned building that youâre positive only you and your friends are currently occupying? How much longer do you expect to keep quiet, when the way heâs making you feel begins to slowly burn at your insides?Â
He curls his fingers deep in you, and your jaw unhinges in a silent gap. You wonder how long you can last, face burning with every passing second as he fingers you closer and closer to your high. Your hips jut outward to meet his hand with every motion, grinding against his knuckles in a desperate need to get off. Youâre shameless about it too, fingers gripping his shirt tightly, brows scrunched together in hardened dedication.Â
âSuch a pretty little mess,â Namjoon hums. âWant you to cum on my hand, baby girl.â
âFuck, Namjoonââ You whimper now, head lulling back as he twists his fingers further in you.Â
But, as soon as you do so, the echoing sound of footsteps has your eyes darting to the darkened corridor. You make out the sound of oblivious chatter, and the familiar voices of Taehyung and Hoseok echoing from somewhere down below. They must be two floors down, though you can hear them screaming at nothing in particular, except for a string of profanities that meet your ears.
âJesus, fuck!â That definitely sounds like Taehyung, voice shrill with worry.Â
âChill!â Thereâs Hoseok, but you think he was also screaming moments ago with Taehyung. âItâs just a spider.â
âI donât care! Get it off of me!â
âBunch of dumbasses,â Namjoon shakes his head rigidly, a fleeting grin forming on his face that is quick to fade as he curls his fingers upwards further into you. And, while your attention is somewhat fixated on the boys, you find yourself treading a fine line of not giving a fuck as Namjoonâs fingers stay buried deep within your cunt. Still, Namjoon can sense the slight urgency in your demeanor when your hands wind around his neck to tug at his hair, as if to gesture to the strangers that he already knows are nearby.Â
âItâs okay,â he murmurs reassuringly, voice low enough for only you to hear. âYouâre doing so good, love.â
He slows his fingers almost to a halt as you burrow your face in the crook of his neck. Your walls continue to clench around his fingers, and he adds a third finger to stretch you out just enough in a teasing leisure manner. He does it on purpose too, this much you know for certain, as he pinches playfully at your waist. Itâs lewd, the idea of him fingering you out in public like this but the emboldened adrenaline coursing through your veins doesnât want him to stop. By now, your high overwhelms everything else, causing you to writhe against Namjoon as he cradles you to him. You cum moments later, your orgasm overcoming you before you can sense it, trembling beneath his hands as he continues to finger you through it. Warm, wet arousal leaks from your core, coats his fingers all over as a punctuating whimper of his name tumbles from your lips.
âThatâs it, baby,â he says gently. âLet everyone hear how dirty you are. Let it all out.â
Your thighs shake, squeezing shut around his hand, and all he can do is rub soothing circles into your hips with his free hand. He waits for your breath to steady, as the coil in your belly loosens, instead taking the time to admire you to your fullest, drunken hooded eyes glazed over in that perfect expression he loves.
âWant your cock in me now, Joon,â You whine breathlessly. The whining persistence in your voice excites Namjoon, only amplified tenfold by the way you begin nipping and sucking at his neck.Â
âNow?â he asks.
âNow.â
Almost instantly, thereâs a noticeable shift in his expression, a shit-eating smirk tugging at his mouth. You smother the rest of it before it can become too smug, folding your lips over his. Still, he hums through your eager kissing, âYeah? Gonna let me fuck you like this, love? Take you raw against this wall, right here, right now?â
âYes, please,â You mewl. Growing restless, you beg silently, âNamjoon.â
âBetter make it quick then, hm?âÂ
You can only nod, still in a daze from the orgasm that still courses through your veins. Namjoonâs quick to oblige, pulling his hands from your heat and wiping your slick wetness off on his thigh. Clumsy hands between the both of you fumble to undo the button of his jeans, hastily undoing them just enough to free his straining cock from within. He wedges himself between your legs, hiking your skirt farther up your thighs, and he hurries to free his length from its confinements, wild locks spilling out onto his forehead and into your own line of sight. You push his hair up and away from his face, though your fingers grip suddenly at the roots of his locks when he grips your thigh and hoists it up to his hip, and then pushes himself into you at once, the tip of his warm cock easily coaxed by your already wet walls. He moans into your neck but muffles it halfheartedly by kissing along your throat.
âEasy there, boy,â You snicker, though your own words are a weak drunken slur, drowning out into a muffled whimper as he thrusts himself into you all the way. His hips meet yours roughly, grinding against you as your walls stretch around his throbbing cock.
âIâm needy,â he whines. âJust wanna feel you around me.â
He wastes no time in moving again, pulling his hips back only to thrust into you, adopting a steady fluid pace in such a way that has your head lolling back against the wall, and your mouth popping open in a silent moan as you shift beneath him. The wall of the building behind you is rough and jagged but you donât feel it, not with the way he continues to thrust into you. His fingers dig into the flesh of your thigh, stretching you apart in such a way that has him pummeling his length into your core just right.Â
âFuck,â he grunts into your neck. Impatient hands move to yank your shirt up to your chest, pulling your bra down just enough for your breasts to pop out. He moves to leave a wet trail of kisses to your breasts, catching one of your nipples between his teeth and sucking harshly at it. The new sensation has your own walls clenching around him, and he almost comes undone then. Against your chest, you can hear him murmur breathlessly, âYou feel so fucking good, baby.â
âMmm,â You tug harshly at the roots of his hair. An unabashedly loud moan nearly tumbles from your lips before you can bite it back. Elsewhere, you can hear the sound of faint footsteps once more in the far distance, Taehyung and Hoseok much closer this time (quite possibly on the same floor as you, but the opposite end), but you donât seem to care much anymore about the potentiality of being caught. âFuck, Namjoonââ
âYou like being fucked like this?â he rasps. âOut in public, for anyone to see?â
You feebly muster a nod, lips parting in a silent moan safe for the sound of your hot panting in his ear. Hurried yet deep shuddering strokes, he fucks into you again and again until your head is spinning. Every thrust sends a jolt up your spine and, still riddled by your first high, your body is quick to turn into shambles beneath him. Your hands flail outward to grasp onto every inch of his body, hands slithering beneath the material of his shirt, fingernails to dig crescent shapes into his torso, then snaking downward to grasp at his bum, pulling him in closer each time he rolls his hips into yours.
âJoonâŠâ Your voice is an exhausted moan when it meets his ear. He almost doesnât hear it, instead too caught up in the way your panting breaths mingle with the crude wetness of his cock delving past your folds each time. Somewhere, once more, in the distance even closer this time is the sound of footsteps once more. The thought of someone walking in one you like thisâNamjoon wedged between your thighs, drilling his leaking cock into your wet cunt and tearing you to utter shamblesâdoes something chaotically good to you. âNot gonna last.â
âMe neither,â he gasps. âDonât care. Just wanna cum. Just wanna feel you cum around me.â
His thrusts begin to tread into sloppy territory, fervently itching to get both of you off. You reach your second high first, tumbling towards it with open arms. You canât contain yourself, the tempting moan dancing upon the tip of your tongue, burning in your throat as your orgasm twists at your belly. âFuck, baby, Iâm gonnaââÂ
But your voice splinters off into a delicious sounding whimper. Wary of being caught by your wandering friends when youâre both so close to being undone (because, really, the idea of someone else hearing you whimper because of how good his cock is exhilarates him), Namjoonâs hand clamps over your lips and you welcome it graciously, favouring the idea of his fingers poking into your mouth so that you have something to distract your moaning. It still comes, broken and inaudible, smothered by Namjoonâs hand, as your tongue lavs around his digits.Â
Now, youâre truly a sight to behold, making Namjoonâs length twitch amongst your walls. Exhausted, fucked out eyes gawk at him, too weak to carry on, instead jutting your hips forward to meet his with each thrust.Â
âShit,â he whines. âFuckinâ hell, Y/Nââ
He comes moments later, frantic slaps of his own hips having him spilling his seed sloppily into your already wet cunt. The abrupt sensation as your own walls clenching so impossibly tight around him, he feels as if he canât move, though itâs not as if he immediately plans to. Instead, after a few more rocky thrusts into you to ride out both of your highs, he collapses against your chest and you smooth your fingers delicately through his hair.Â
Itâs a miracle when you both manage to finally pry themselves off of one another. As Namjoon hurries to tuck himself back into his jeans, you fidget with your bra and shirt, and then the hem of your skirt, tugging it as low as it can go. His cum is still warm and sticky between your legs, slowly beginning to run down your inner thighs.Â
You catch him looking at some point and ask curiously, âWhat?â
âNothing,â he says innocently. âJust wondering how you still manage to look so beautiful even after having my cum fucked in you.â
You roll your eyes as you reach out to ruffle his messy hair in an attempt to tame the damage youâve caused. He smiles wide at the effort anyway.Â
âDecent?â he asks.
âGood enough,â You say. âNow, letâs find the boys before anyone notices we were gone for too long.â
And this, he doesnât disagree with.
Later, when you and Namjoon have regrouped with the rest of the boys back by the cars parked outside the asylum, everyone looks a little more on edge than when you left them. Except for maybe you and Namjoon. You wonder if the boys notice, judging by the way you and Namjoon keep giggling amongst yourselves.
âSo,â Jungkook says, âdid you guys find anything?â
âNothing,â Jin admits. âJust freaked out Jimin a little bit more.â
The boy in question can be seen scowling to himself, arms folded over his chest. âAll I gotta say is screw this place.â
Hoseok looks indifferent as he reviews a recording on the camera in his hands. When he speaks, his voice is a casual drawl. âDunno. Thought we heard some suspiciously loud moaning from one part of that building that Iâm almost positive Namjoon and Y/N were exploring.â
At this, Taehyung bursts out into wolfish laughter, only prompted further by your sudden horrified expression that you try to play off nonchalantly and fail miserably at doing. So they had heard you two after all? âHa! They sure were exploring something.â
While the rest of the boys look either intrigued or rightfully confused, Namjoon shakes his head defiantly. âNah, I donât know what youâre talking about.â
âYeah, sure.â
Resisting the urge to hide behind your hands, you bite your tongue and try to sift through your brain for something else to discuss. Over the childish giggling sounding from Taehyung and Hoseok, you ask, âWell, did you guys find anything? Thought we heard you exploring the third floor.â
âThird floor?â Hoseok echoes, dumbfounded. âWe didnât get that far.â
âBut I could have sworn I heard you guys.â
Hoseokâs brows knit together. He exchanges a look with Taehyung, then returns his stare to you. âYou probably heard Tae screaming like a lunatic because a spider was on him. We were only in there long enough to try the spirit box out again, but that was on the second floor. Then the spider thing happened. Then, we left.â
Now, this is alarming. You gap at the boys as your mind tries to piece together the puzzles of this dilemma. Had you heard the boys, or perhaps something else entirely? Or maybe it was just your imagination. Namjoon did say your mind plays tricks on you â but the sound of footsteps had been so vivid.Â
Even Namjoon looks stupefied, gawking at Hoseok. âWait, youâre not joking, are you?â
âNo,â Taehyung shakes his head. âWe were filming the whole time. We can show you. Are you guys joking?â
âNo,â You promise. âWe wereâ Ermâ We got distracted. We werenât really paying much attention butââ
Youâre fortunate when Yoongi decides to speak up, interrupting your embarrassed stammering. âSo then what did you guys hearâŠ?
A beat of silence passes amongst your group of friends. One-by-one, you each turn to look up at the haunting asylum still standing behind you, the night blurring its shape into one incomprehensible monstrosity. Okay, so maybe the ghost stories about this place are true. A shiver runs down your spine.Â
Thenâ
âSo does that mean the ghost is a Peeping Tom orâ?â Jungkook asks. You wonder if you should be concerned by his serious tone.
The boys howl with laughter at the thought, though youâre still admittedly a little shaken up by the idea of a ghost watching you and Namjoon bone. Maybe you asked for it, what with deciding to have a quickie in a haunted asylum.Â
âI donât know, but can we please get out of here?â You press thinly. âJimin was right. Screw this place.â
If the boys are as deeply unsettled by yours and Namjoonâs sudden revelation, you donât know. You all manage to pack up your belongings and clamber in the cars in record timing, speeding away from the asylum unscathed. And if you really did just witness a ghost encounter, then you suppose it isnât all that bad.Â
At the very least, Namjoonâs video does make it to the trending page.

ïž”âżïž”âżïž”ÊËÌŁÌŁÌŁÍÉă»àŒșâàŒ»ă» ÊËÌŁÌŁÌŁÍÉïž”âżïž”âżïž”
1900, Manila
The gust of wind rustling the forest almost silenced your pounding heart, but not quite. You transformed into a blazing bird and shoot through the bright sky, searching the brown earthen hues below. Your bird form made you an easy target, knowing that the wights after you have hunting guns; but your bird form also allowed you to scan the forest with your peculiar intuition. You could detect souls and sense their objectives. As you fly towards the outskirts of the woods, you located the two wights running away.
Suddenly, you felt another soul wandering through the thickets. A lone, pure heart, a good aura that you wouldnât expect right after getting chased by blank-eyed monsters. Driven by curiosity, you roamed above the trees where you felt the presence. It was a floating map. You perched on a branch and watched the huge map turn, as if being held by a person. You looked from another angle at it revealed a floating suit and trousers. Carefully eyeing the subject and its pavement shoes leaving a calculated trail, there was only one word you can fathom: peculiar.
It had been over half a century since youâve seen another peculiar, and it fascinated you how you couldnât actually see this one. You continued watching the invisible who seem to be looking for something; a landmark? a person? a girl who can turn into a two-feet-tall fiery bird? If it was the latter, you knew you couldnât easily trust someone, even if your intuition screamed this personâs good intentions.
You flew towards your house by the river, and judging by the angle of the floating clothes below, you knew youâve been spotted. The moment you reached your home, you transformed back to your sixteen year-old body and slipped in a floor length skirt, a white sleeved shirt made from pineapple fabrics, and a scarf around your neck. You prepared hot chocolate in case that invisible peculiar pays a visit.
It only took a few minutes until you heard a knock on your door. Reluctantly, you opened it to reveal the same floating clothes that seemed to belong to the western world.
"Who are you?"
"Millard Nullings, at your service." A voice of a teenage boy spoke up. You moved aside to allow him enter your home, saying your name as you lead him to the drawing room. At first, you thought it was going to be painfully awkward, but it immediately changed into a pleasant, curious atmosphere when his body headed straight towards the ancient maps on your walls, as if being pulled by a magnet.
"Thank you, this place is incredibly interesting. For the longest time I thought these maps were never to be found again," Millard said as he took the hot chocolate from your hand while staring at the walls.
"These are from my old ymbryne. She was a real treasure," you said, standing beside him. "It shows hundreds of ancient loops across Asia. I wouldn't have found my current home without these maps. Oh, and Millard... may I ask how did you get here?"
"The wights after you were caught a while ago. This loop is marked empty in A Map of Days, so catching two of Caul's followers in here is intriguing. It wasn't long until I found the entrance after leapfrogging through a parallel loop nearby."
Brushing off more questions in your head, you offered him a seat and took sips of hot chocolate.
"Perplexus wasn't wrong when he marked this loop empty," you said. Millard's head most likely whipped up at the mention of the famous cartographer.
You smiled at this and continued. "When my old loop was raided, my ymbryne suggested this small loop. It was an empty peculiar menagerie. I suspect a dozen peculiar animals used to live here with all the traces I've found. But for over fifty years, I haven't seen any peculiarity in this area." You turn your head towards the window. "Past those Cacao trees is the membrane of the loop. A small provincial village with normal people, normal chickens, and a normal carabao. So seeing you here feels more surreal than it sounds," you admitted.
"What about your bird?" he asked, "that tall phoenix flying around the woods?"
A twinge of realization came over you and you sigh, reluctant to admit your peculiarity.
"That was me," you say finally.
"What! You can turn into a phoenix? You're an ymbryne?" Millard's voice was a mix of astonishment and confusion.
"How else did you think I manage to revive this loop?" You smiled.
"I just thought ymbrynes' bird forms are supposed to be inconspicuous. But you were...incredibly remarkable."
Your cheeks heated up at the comment and you divert your gaze with a soft chuckle.
"That baffled me as well, that's why I only transform in important situations. Locals believed me to be a magical bird, thus driving many hunters' attention. My bird form is known as Adarna. Similar to a phoenix, but distinct in certain features."
"Adarna? I've never heard of that kind of bird before."
"It is a famous folklore bird in the Philippines. There are stories about it, even in the Tales of the Peculiar." You stood and picked up an old children's book on the bookshelf across the room. You handed it to Millard, which you assume, made him smile.
"This is an ancient version indeed. I annotate many of the Tales but I've never seen this before. Would you mind letting me borrow this?" You couldn't bring yourself to say no to him, so you insisted he could keep it. Stating that you didn't need a copy, having memorized it for the longest time.
After minutes of discussion, you noticed how he got so excited in the topic of maps, history and his friends. It felt like you were listening to a teacher who loved his work, and you weren't complaining as you found this adorable. You were both having good laughs with Millard's stories, until he finally said, "I trust you expect a reassurance that the wights wouldn't trouble you anymore, but we can't be certain."
Your eyebrows furrowed at this, "what are you planning?"
"To take you to Devil's Acre."
You were surprised and slightly taken aback. He must've seen the faraway look on your face so he continues, "Y/n, you don't have to go now. I can just leave you a detailed map to help you reach the panloopticon anytime."
You paced around the drawing room. "So you're letting me go there alone?"
âIf that's what you like, yes. I don't want to rush you into leaving your home, but Iâll feel much better if you let me take you there myself." His British drawl made your throat dry, you could only nod.
"I'll take my time to think about it, but as soon as the wights come near this area, I'll head to your loop for safety." You decided it's only smart to stay home until real danger emerge, despite how much you'd like to go with Millard. "Why don't you stay here for a while?"
"That can be a problem. You see, my ymbryne left me with strict rules..."
"You weren't supposed to be here, aren't you?"
You both just laughed at this.
A while later, a loud commotion started in the other side of the loop membrane. Villagers were screaming and animals were flocking away.
"Was that a regular noise within your loop?"
"For fifty years of living this exact same day over and over again, I can assure you that was most unnatural." You got up and pocketed an old but sharp dagger as Millard packed the maps and the book you gave him.
"Those are certainly Wights looking for their other comrades. We ought to flee this place now," he said.
You both slipped through the backdoor towards the river, careful not to trip into the mud. When you reach the bamboo raft, he held your hand and made sure you wouldn't lose balance. This gesture, however, made you lose your composure instead.
"You seem nervous, is it the raft? Should I let you cross the river first?"
"No, no, it's safe," you said as you both stood on the either side of the raft, trying not to slip as you crossed the river holding tall pieces of bamboo to keep yourselves steady. "I guess I just feel sad that I'm leaving home for good," you say. It was true, but you couldn't bring yourself to admit that he made you flustered.
"I understand that this loop may close permanently as you leave," he said, "but in the Devil's Acre, you may train with other ymbrynes ang get the chance to create new loops, have wards of your ownâ"
"Train with other ymbrynes?" You exclaimed as the raft reached the other side of the river.
"Yes, they're rather lovely. Miss Avocet and all the other ymbrynes would love to guide you. I also believe my friends will celebrate your company. Horace will cook feast, Olive and Claire will surely entertain you, oh," he said, clearly excited, "the celebration will never be enough!"
"Are you kidding me?" You laughed soundlessly as you headed towards the forest. "Your presence alone is more than enough."
He did not reply anything for a moment and you bit your lip. Millard lead the way to another loop that was connected to the panloopticon. It was a silent but surprisingly comfortable walk. He told you to watch your steps in some parts of the forest and you give every useful information you had about your homeland.
"There it is, come here, y/n." He spotted the portal door propped amongst the old trenches of the place that was once bloodstained by war.
Shivers crawled down your spine as you paced forward. Millard noticed your uneasy expression and ran circles on your knuckles. "You can tell me if you don't want to come," he whispered gently, "we'll figure out another way if you're ever uncomfortable."
"Thank you, but I really want to go with you. I want to meet your family and read your books." A smile painted its way on your face just thinking about it.
Without another question, he lead you through the door while gripping your hand. You held your breath and let him guide your steps. His fingers traced your forehead and you opened your eyes.
â â⊠â âŠâ â
1886, London
"Where are we?" You stare at the plain, unfamiliar bedroom infront of you.
"The third floor of panloopticon," Millard said with a relieved sigh. "We just crossed half the world in a matter of seconds, I trust the kitchen will have something to ease our loop-lag."
Without even thinking about it, you pulled him in a hug. He caught his breath and wrapped his arms around you as you feel tears streaming down your face. You missed your country but don't regret being with this boy at all. "Thank you," you managed to whisper.
It had been less than a week since you first arrived. Millard's friends were the kindest people you have ever met. The first time you saw Miss Peregrine, she was furious at Millard for running off without permission, but her mood changed when she met you and realized you were an ymbryne too. You were immediately recruited in Miss Avocet's academy and made friends with many other people in the Acre. You get along very well with Miss Wren who was interested in your peculiarity and the fact that you lived in a menagerie loop in Asia.
Desolations came and you stayed in the Ditch House with Millard reading books for you. While it was raining blood, bones and ashes outside, you were having the time of your life with your new family.
You stayed in the Academy while the rest of Miss Peregrine's wards take on their adventure to France, giving all your best wishes for Millard.
You fought in the battle of the Devil's Acre and tended to the injured with the other ymbrynes-in-training. When you heard the news that Caul was defeated, you were elated and incredibly happy.
You were one of the ninety-five peculiars who broke loop-bound in Jacob's house. You could finally go anywhere you like without the fear of aging forward rapidly, and Millard promised many trips with you, you could only shut him up with a peck on the cheek.
â â⊠â âŠâ â
1940, Cairnholm
So many good things happened to you that week, but nothing could beat the joy you felt when you found out that the ymbrynes-in-training are to live with Miss Cuckoo, and Miss Peregrine and her wards in Cairnholm.
You stare at the dog roses in Fiona's garden, you were filled with mixed emotions and wanted a quiet time. All of them are celebrating inside the house; all except Millard, who was wearing a velvet smoking jacket for the occasion.
"It's beautiful here," you said while watching his clothes head your way, "you must be happy that you're home."
"You are my home," he said sincerely, now standing in front of you.
You couldn't grab any witty reply, in fact, you couldn't find any words at all. You knew you were blushing ferociously by now.  Â
"Mind if I talk to you about something that's been bothering me for a while?" He broke the silence and you nod at him.
"With everything we went through these past weeks, I found myself hoping to stay alive."
You stifled a laugh. "Isn't that a good thing? Wishing you'd survive?"
"That's the point, I wanted to stay alive, not just because we ought to take surviving as a priority, but because I can't get you out of my mind."
Your face went blank. "What do you mean, Millard?"
"I wish it was a choice, but it wasn't. I fell in love with you, Y/n. I'd love you for as long as time."
"And we have time," you reassured him, "I love you too," and with that, he kissed you.
Both smiling into the kiss, you leaned against each other, swaying in the breeze of the garden and basking in each other's presence forevermore.

Y/N = Your Name
---
â(Y/N)! Get a move on!âÂ
Deanâs deep voice echoed down the hallway just as you shouldered your duffle bag with a roll of your eyes. It hadn't even been 10 minutes since the call for help had come in. If it wasnât for the fact that youâd been busy cleaning your guns when the call came, you wouldâve already been out there in the library with them, ready to go. It wasnât as if youâd been standing around fussing over which ratty t-shirt to pack for an hour.
âOn my way!â You shouted back, grimacing as the heightened volume easily erased the annoyance youâd wanted to subtly lace each word with. Throwing another quick look around your room in the Men of Letters bunker you sighed at the mess.Â
T-shirts and jeans were everywhere, as youâd pulled out everything to quickly stuff a few items in your overnight bag just in case the hunt took longer than planned. Not to mention the cleaning supplies youâd left abandoned on the floor from where youâd been sitting cross-legged polishing your favourite revolver.
It would all have to wait till you got back. Even though you knew youâd regret it once you made it back, bruised and stiff from the fight and the subsequent ride back in the Impala. Having to clean your room before you could fall into your bed feeling sorry for your aching bones was never fun.Â
Yet, sticking to a decision you knew youâd come to regret; you got a move on before Dean could call out for you again. Swiping up your phone, you hurried out into the hallway and nearly ran straight into Sam as he came barrelling out of his own room.Â
âDean?â He asked, his hazel eyes meeting yours with a raised eyebrow a clear sign that your annoyance at being rushed was showing on your features. Though it didnât matter, since the youngest Winchester clearly shared your irritation as he threw you a glance, underscored by an eye roll that put yours to shame.
âYeah⊠Dean,â You said with a sigh as you lifted the straps of the duffle bag off of your shoulder. Attempting to bring some blood flow back into your arm from the heavy load of guns, knives, holy water and other goodies. As well as the clothes thrown in for good measure.Â
âLetâs not keep our oh so righteous leader waiting then. Câmon (Y/N),â Sam smirked, teasing a small smile out of you as well. Before quickly reaching down and effortlessly snatching your duffle bag from your hands and hurrying down the hallway. If it wasnât for your relief of having the bag off of your shoulders you would have stopped him. Reminded him that you could easily kick his ass if you went one on one.Â
But, you knew that there were no hidden meanings in Samâs gesture. He was just trying to be helpful.
Youâd realised quite quickly after getting to know him that one of the things the youngest Winchester feared more than anything else was being abandoned; seen as useless or a burden and left standing in the dust. The shadows of his childhood fears were still clinging to him, little tendrils that heâd never managed to shake. Old fears from a youth spent in constant worry that his father would just drop him off somewhere and drive off without ever coming back. That, coupled with the many lost friends, lovers and hunters that had left him, willingly or unwillingly, made him try twice as hard at being of use to those he loved, every step of the way. From small kind gestures, like carrying your bag, to willingly offering himself up as a sacrifice to the big baddies of the world, in hopes of rescuing Dean, Cas, and now you.
Rolling your shoulders to shake off the rest of the strain from the bag, you pocketed your phone before hurrying after Sam down the hallway. No point in being grumpy when there were bad guys to gank. And neither of the two men in your life deserved your grumbled dissatisfaction. Both the bag and Deanâs insistence of getting on the road as fast as possible were just their own little ways of showing they cared.Â
Sam was just trying to be helpful and Dean was always worried about losing another civilian by being just a second too late. And you loved them both for it. After all, one was your best friend in the whole world, while the other already secretly had your heart. Though youâd never found the courage to tell him you slipped it into his hands when he wasnât looking.Â
â(Y/N)!â Deanâs voice echoed down the hallway, pulling you out of your thoughts and back into your grumbled exasperation aimed at the oldest hunter. Ok⊠So maybe youâd allow yourself to be a tiny big grumpy until there were baddies in front of you to take it out on.
âI said Iâm on my way!â You called back in a huff. Casting a quick glance at your closed bedroom door before quickly running to join the boys. Hopefully the bruises yet to come from the hunt wouldnât make you regret your decision to leave the mess behind.
---
âSo where are we headed, exactly?â You asked after about an hourâs drive and a quick case briefing from Dean. Leaning between the seats from the backseat of the Impala in a way that had Sam throwing worried glances your way for your lax seat-belt etiquette.Â
âThereâs a farmhouse, just 40 clicks away now, shouldnât take long,â Deanâs voice had taken on that steely hardness it got whenever things got serious. And though the case was nothing out of the ordinary for the Winchesters and you, there had already been two reported deaths.
Which also meant that Dean had already added their names and faces to his list of sins to carry. People he could have saved if he could have somehow seen into the future. The oldest Winchester always etched the names of every lost soul into his big heart, burying them there among the many âshould havesâ and âwhat ifsâ that weighed his broad shoulders down. He was a good leader, and a great hunter, but sometimes he cared a little too deeply. Leaving him hurt no matter how well a hunt went.
â... And put on your seatbelt (Y/N),âÂ
âYeah, yeah,âÂ
⊠And sometimes he treated you like a little kid. The thought teased a wry sigh out of you. Quickly reaching out, you turned up the volume of the Led Zeppelin song that was playing, a small act of rebellion, before leaning back in your seat. Smiling innocently as Deanâs green eyes met yours in the rear-view mirror, his attempt at exasperation softened by the way his eyes crinkled in a smile.Â
No matter how hard as steel the hunter tried to act, he always had a soft spot for Sam and you. To Dean, his feelings were cracks in his armour. They were the blind spots his father had told him about when teaching him to âalways watch his backâ. Yet, the man was more deserving of a family, of love, than anyone else you knew. And so, Sammy and you watched his back instead. Where he watched yours. Both of you determined for the older hunter to see you as strengths, not weaknesses.
Soldiers, shoulder by shoulder.
And, though Dean would constantly complain... You knew he was secretly happy the two of you stuck around; silently terrified of the loneliness he always tried to force onto himself by pushing others away. No matter how loudly his fatherâs words echoed in his mind and tried to tell him he was leaving himself vulnerable.
Letting Black Dog be your soundtrack, you watched the two most important people in your world from the backseat of the Impala. The Winchester brothers; both carrying scars from the family business theyâd fallen into after their motherâs death. Each fearing abandonment and hurt in their own bruised and broken way. Both forced to give up any dream of apple pie to make the world a better place. Children turned soldiers turned martyrs, shaped into a sacrifice by a world that turned a blind eye to their suffering. Which was why you had promised yourself that you would try your damndest to give them a home, and that you would never run away from your life with them.Â
Even if a certain hunter sometimes made that a hard promise to keep, as every friendly jab broke your heart at the clearly unrequited love you harboured.Â
You sighed internally as you cast a careful glance in the direction of the man youâd come to love as more than just a hunting buddy or a friend, more than anything really, over the last year and a half of hunting with him. Heâd probably be heartbroken to know he was hurting you, which was why you could never tell him how you felt. How your heart and body reacted, as if by reflex, whenever he was around.
Anything he did, from the smallest smile to the feel of his eyes on you, set your body on fire. In a manner not so different to what Robert Plant was promising heâd do to you as Black Dog blared over the Impalaâs speaker system. And fuck if you didnât want to echo the great artist himself and ask the man in front of you to do some not so innocent things to you whenever your eyes strayed to lips that youâd rather have on you than rambling on as they currently were about the case.
âRight⊠So, to make sure weâre readyâŠâÂ

I promise Iâm still writing stuff!! this is a soft little one shot I wrote a while ago and just cleaned up. read on tumblr below the cut!
In the end, itâs the weariness that does him in.
Once when they were both younger men, Jaskier had asked him about retirement for witchers. If they retreated to Kaer Morhen in their old age to train the new pups, or if they settled down across the Continent, or gave up the hunt to have families of their own. Geralt had snorted. âWe donât retire,â heâd said, mixing potion ingredients by the light of their camp fire. Jaskier had looked at him with wide, curious eyes. âWe get old, and slow, and something kills us. We donât - buy seaside cottages, or whatever.â
Jaskier had hummed at that, a mournful note that seemed to resonate in the air. It was unfair, Geralt had thought, that his friend managed to convey so much in such a sound while the witcher always managed to say so little. âSeems a bit unfair,â Jaskier added.
Geralt had blown out an amused breath, not quite a laugh. âThatâs life, bard.â
But now, three decades and countless battles older, he just felt tired. Jaskier no longer traveled with him as frequently, and the Path was a lonely place. He and his brothers no longer met at Kaer Morhen to winter, not once Vesemir had passed. They would stop occasionally to meet up on the road, but never for too long. Even Ciri was going her own way nowadays, though he saw her the most frequently. As the years wore on, Geralt found himself visiting Oxenfurt more and more often. Itching for companionship, for a cease in the ever grinding motion of the Path. The routine that had once been a comfort was now grating.
Maybe it was time to take a break.
It was with this mentality that he turned to Jaskier on the last day of his stay in Oxenfurt and said, âCome to Toussaint with me.â
Jaskier blinked at him owlishly, the expression making him look ten years younger. These days his hair was streaked with gray at the temples, and when he chose to grow out a beard it was as silver as Geraltâs. âWhatâs so important in Toussaint?â he asked. They were seated at a table in the rooms Jaskier had been provided, for accepting a temporary lecturing position. The term had ended a few weeks ago, hence Geraltâs visit. Jaskier shuffled his gwent deck as he spoke, the cards weaving together like a cascade. Geralt found himself watching the bardâs slim fingers dance through the motions with an old fascination.
âI have an estate there,â he replied, pulling his gaze from the cards. He meant to look Jaskier in the eye, but a brief moment of contact with the bright cerulean had him turning his head, his heartbeat growing ever so slightly faster. It was too hard to ask this if he could see Jaskierâs face. Instead, he looked out the small window, overlooking the red tiled roofs of Oxenfurt. The city was painted a rich gold in the light of the evening sun, reflected warmly off of the river beyond the docks.
Jaskier spluttered across the table. âYou have an estate? Since when?â
Geralt felt a smile tug at the corners of his lips. âIt was payment for a job,â he said. âThereâs a vineyard, gardens. I can send word ahead for them to start renovations on the guest bedroom. Come with me,â he said again, softly. He wasnât above begging, but he hoped he wouldnât have to.
Jaskier looked at him with a confused but affectionate look spread across his fine features, and said, âOkay.â
~
Geralt sent a letter ahead to warn the staff of their plans to summer at the estate, and they began their journey to the Duchy.
It was a long journey, but not an arduous one. For once, Geralt allowed them to stick to the main roads, and at this time of year even Velen was bearable. The sweeping fields spread out around them in swaths of green and gold, punctuated here and there by defiant patches of wildflowers. Jaskier wasnât as quick as he used to be following Geralt on the Path, but they werenât on the Path anymore. They purchased a second horse and rode side by side at a leisurely pace. When the day grew hot, they would post up in a convenient spot of shade and let the horses graze, lunching on sun warmed bread and sweetmeats. Jaskier rambled the hours away with stories of his students and old antics at Oxenfurt, and Geralt responded with his own tales of hunts and growing up in the keep with his brothers. It was good to have another voice on the road again after months of traveling alone. It was good that it was Jaskier. Geralt had missed him. Once he wouldnât have been able to admit it, even to himself, but it seemed silly now to hide it. A wall put up against someone who had been inside for years.
They slept beneath the stars and in cramped inns, sharing small spaces like they had for decades. It was different, Geralt thought. Something had released in his shoulders when Jaskier had agreed to come with him. They werenât in a rush - there were no contracts to fill, no galas to play at. Jaskierâs purse was heavy from his time spent lecturing, and Geralt was able to pick up a few simple contracts as they went. Easy jobs that would put some extra coin in his pocket and lift the tension from the shoulders of the locals. But for the most part it was just the two of them, drinking sweet summer mead and browsing morning markets, getting accustomed to each otherâs presence again.
Sitting across the fire from him one night as they camped, Jaskier said, âYouâre different, you know.â
Geralt lifted his head from where heâd been skinning the pheasants for supper. âHmm?â
Jaskier smiled, his eyes soft. âWell, maybe not that different.â At Geraltâs odd look, he went on. âYou told me once that witchers never change. That theyâre set in their ways. I think you were talking about something like your potions routine when you said it at the time, but I thought it applied to the whole of the witcher experience.â
Geralt hummed again. âItâs true. We age slowly. Get set in our habits.â
âBut you changed,â Jaskier said. âIâve seen it. After Ciri, and now, since weâve left Oxenfurt. Youâre different.â
Geralt shifted uncomfortably. Theyâd never been on the road together like this, just the two of them as companions. Before Geralt had been focused on the Path, and Jaskier had been cataloguing his deeds as if he were some kind of hero of legend. He knew Jaskier admired Geraltâs drive, his ability to push on towards the next contract. Maybe the bard would think less of him, knowing that he was content to leave the Path behind for so long. âIâm still me,â he said aloud.
Jaskier gave him another smile, warm and honeyed. âI know itâs you, daft man,â he said. âItâs good. To see you⊠put down the torch for a bit.â
Geralt wasnât sure what to say to that, so he just gave an agreeable rumble in his chest. And then, because heâd spent so long learning how to use his words around his daughter, he said, âIâm glad youâre here, Jaskier.â
A brief moment of surprise passed over Jaskierâs features, his eyes widening. Though Geralt had become better at voicing his affections over the years, he knew that the bard was always taken aback by the behavior. After a second Jaskierâs smile became a grin, and Geralt felt something in him relax even further. âIâm glad to be here, my friend. You know I canât resist an adventure.â
~
They arrived in Toussaint quickly after that, both eager to end their days on the road. The countryside spread out around them slowly transformed from the muted colors of the north into the vibrant greens, purples and reds of the vineyards and forests. Geralt always forgot how stunning the Duchy was, with its colorful houses and flashy clothes. For once Jaskier fit in with the crowd flawlessly; it would take more than a bright doublet to stand out in Toussaint. Geralt had always liked it here. The peasants tended to be less prejudiced against non-humans, witchers included, and the knights heâd met always treated him as a brother in arms rather than pest control. The winters were mild and the summers sweet, and the wines were rich even if they were impossible for him to pronounce at times.
Of course Jaskier proved to be fluent in the local language - âWhat do you think the Seven Liberal Arts even entail, Geralt?â - which was helpful when they passed through smaller villages. Those away from the common crossroads or larger settlements tended to have fewer people who spoke the common northern tongue. They made their way to Geraltâs estate through a series of inns, barns and guest bedrooms as Jaskier relentlessly charmed the locals in grandiose displays of hospitality.
As they approached the estate, Geralt pulled Roach to a stop at the top of a hill. âThis is it,â he said, nodding to indicate the view.
Jaskier gaped, craning to look out over the small collection of buildings and the dozens and dozens of grapevines that were nestled in the valley below. Geralt could see several workers out tending to the fields; his majordomo must have been overseeing things as agreed upon. They would have to get to know the rest of the staff while they were here. âThis is all yours?â Jaskier asked, snapping Geraltâs attention back to the present.
âThe house, most of the fields. Iâve not paid all that much attention to it before now, honestly. The house needs work. Never had any reason to sink funds into it before now.â Heâd sent a fair sum of gold ahead to Barnabas-Basil to get started on renovations, but it likely would have only been enough to make the main complex habitable. Geralt was confident that he could undertake much of the repairs himself, in time. It would be good to have a project.
âItâs expansive. You produce wine here?â Jaskier asked, turning back towards him.
âYes, but youâll have to ask the majordomo which ones.â
Jaskier nodded to himself as they continued down the hill, soon approaching the main gate to the small villa. Members of the staff bustled throughout the property, though many stopped to look as the two of them passed by. As they settled their horses near a storage shed, the majordomo approached them, apparently already made aware of their arrival.
âAh, Master Geralt, I trust that your travels were smooth? Please, come inside - I will have someone come and tend to the horses.â Barnabas-Basil Foulty was a clean shaven, bald man with sharp, almost bird-like features, and the head of the estate in Geraltâs stead. He stood at perfect attention at all times, shoulders back and head held high. A proud man, if not also an extremely polite one. Geralt liked him immensely, because he was good at his job and could keep up in the cups the one time the two had drank together.
âAh, this must be the famous Barnabas-Basil. Fantastic to finally meet your acquaintance, my good man,â Jaskier said, jumping in to give the majordomoâs hand a firm shake. âGeralt has praised your skills from here to Redania and back.â
Barnabas-Basil inclined his head towards Geralt, though his spine did not stray an inch. âI thank you, sir, for your kind words. Please, allow me to show you the progress that we have made on the main house so you might get settled.â
The domo walked them through the estate, giving Jaskier a brief tour and pointing out new additions to Geralt. Heâd not been to the estate in at least two years, but it was clear that the workers were making good use of the space. The small collection of colorful houses down the road had fresh coats of paint, and children played in the courtyard below the main house. A garden flourished in the space between the manor and the vineyard, dominated by root vegetables and herbs.
âIf you would like, we can have it cleared out so that you might use it for your own purposes,â Barnabas-Basil said. His face betrayed no feelings on the issue.
Geralt grunted. âNo need. The staff can use it as they wish.â He refused to meet Jaskierâs gaze as the bard beamed at him proudly. After decades of friendship Jaskier still seemed to find it a delight anytime Geralt did something he thought was particularly chivalrous. Geralt was not eager for him to meet the knights, with their virtues and heroic deeds.
The house, as he suspected, was functional but only just. âWeâve done what we could in a short amount of time, sir,â Barnabas-Basil said, his tone politely apologetic. âI assure you renovations are far from complete.â
âItâs fantastic,â Jaskier said, already darting off to explore the other rooms. There was a small kitchen, a bedroom, bathroom and an upstairs loft that could be made into a second bedroom. The additional bed wouldnât arrive for another week or two.
âWe can share,â Geralt said without looking at Jaskier, and did not elaborate further. âShow me what else needs done.â
~
They fell quickly into a routine. Geralt spent his days working with the locals on renovations, slowly breathing vitality back into the old manor. When he grew tired of working with lumber, he waded into the vineyards, to help pluck the delicate grapes from their twisting vines. A pair of women admonished him for his sloppy work on the first day and taught him how to gently cut the branches away and check the grapes for ripeness. Jaskier fluctuated between helping out with the building work and composing, though he also made the occasional day trip into the city to perform. In the evening they would retire to the house to eat, drink and chat over games of cards. At night they would curl up in Geraltâs bed, as they had when sharing quarters on the road.
It was a strange new intimacy, to learn what Jaskier was like in his bed. They had shared bedrolls many times over the years, but never with any consistency. When the nights were too cold or the inn too full, they would sigh and grumble and agree to share a space for the night, as a matter of convenience. But as soon as they had the coin or the resources to do so, they would always put distance between themselves again. Geralt supposed it had been a kind of self preservation instinct, but he now found little threat in the warmth of Jaskier next to him at night. He learned that some days Jaskier woke before the sunrise, throwing himself out of bed in a tangle of limbs to scramble for a quill. Other days he slept late, sprawled out across the sheets and dozing until the heat of the day forced him up. Often Geralt woke to the bard curled around him, an arm thrown across his broad chest, nose tucked under the witcherâs jaw. Those times always made something tighten in Geraltâs throat. No one should trust a witcher like Jaskier did, but he was grateful for the bardâs foolishness. Jaskier had always believed that Geralt would keep him safe, even when the witcher had refused to even admit that they were friends. Jaskier deserved better, but it didnât stop Geralt from turning into his warmth each morning, wishing to reach out.
When the second bed came, Jaskier made no effort to relocate to the guest room. Geralt didnât bring it up.
It only took a month for him to openly think about it, but when he finally did he was surprised it hadnât come sooner. He looked up from where he was carving a notch in a new post for one of the fences and saw Jaskier sitting on the steps of the manor, the end of his quill hovering near his lips. His mouth moved around abstract syllables as he reached for the next lyric in a new song. The soft, repetitive notes rose and fell in the still summer air, and Geralt could see a small spot of ink on Jaskierâs cheek where heâd tapped himself with the quill by accident. Later that night, Geralt would point it out and they would both laugh, and Jaskier would play at being angry Geralt hadnât brought it up sooner, and then Geralt would offer to help him clean up. Jaskier looked up from his place on the stairs and met his eye, feeling the attention on him as he always did. When he saw Geralt looking he smiled, as brightly as if heâd not seen the witcher in months, instead of moments. Geraltâs chest swelled with an unspeakable feeling, thick and heady affection and trust and something else even beyond that, and he thought, Oh, I love him.
~
Geralt suggested a picnic. Jaskier was ecstatic, though he tried to act as if he had to consider the notion.
âWill there be wine?â he asked, eyebrows raised playfully.
âJaskier,â Geralt said, fondly exasperated, âwe live on a vineyard.â
So they grabbed some bottles from the storeroom, packed a light cotton blanket and some food leftover from lunch and set off up the nearby hill. It took them about twenty minutes to reach the top, but once they did they were quite near the place theyâd first stopped to look over the estate. It was nearing evening, the sun hanging low in the sky and making the shadows of the workers coming in stretch out long across the fields. The two men spread out their things, sitting to watch the landscape move below them as they uncorked one of the bottles.
Geralt let Jaskier chatter away about nothing for a while, letting the sound wash over him as they shared the bread and wine. After a while Jaskier fell quiet, leaving them both to gaze out at the beauty of the land around them. Geralt turned to look at Jaskier. The sweep of his brow, the soft bow of his lips. The smattering of freckles heâd collected from weeks on the road, lying in fields and letting the sun kiss his cheeks. To be jealous of the sun, Geralt thought wryly.
Jaskier turned to meet his gaze, realizing that he was being watched. âWhat is it?â he asked.
âWhy did you come with me?â Geralt asked.
Jaskier chuckled a bit, leaning back on one hand. His shirt was unlaced a ways down the front, leaving his dark chest hair exposed. Geralt wanted to put his nose in the hollow of his throat and just breathe there for a while. âIâm not one to turn down a free holiday, my dear.â
âNo,â Geralt said, trying to ignore the way the pet name made his stomach flip. âI mean, why did you always come with me? Everyone⊠People come and go. But you always came back. Why?â
Jaskier gave him an admonishing look. Geralt didnât know what to make of it. âYou know the answer to that,â he said, and his tone held a warning that the witcher didnât understand.
âI know you value our friendship,â Geralt replied, âbut I could say that of many. Itâs not the same.â
âOh Geralt,â Jaskier sighed, his face full of fondness and exasperation and, strangely, an old sort of grief. âYou truly are the most unobservant man in the land. Youâve been far more than a friend to me for many years.â
Geralt felt his heart rate pick up at that, the slow thud speeding up to match Jaskierâs. âYouâre sayingâŠâ He found himself unable to complete the thought. Even after so many years of trying to do better, it was still impossible to form words past the thundering in his ears. This moment felt delicate, like the wrong phrase might shatter it apart.
âI assumed you knew,â Jaskier said with a shrug. The line of his shoulders was just slightly too tense, his body radiating faux casualness. Anyone else may have been fooled, but Geralt had been watching Jaskier for years. âI would never have let it change anything between us, you must know that. You were always involved with someone else - Yennefer, and then Triss and Shani⊠I didnât want to get in the way of that. Something that could make you happy.â
âI thought it would,â Geralt said honestly. His gaze flickered over Jaskierâs impassive face. The bard rarely showed his nerves in his expressions, too much a performer for that. Instead it made its way to his hands, twitching over his thighs and worrying the fabric of the blanket, and his heart, which raced in his chest. âI wanted to be the right person for them. Yen wanted me to be useful. Triss wanted me to be a knight in shining armor. They made me feel like I was better than just a witcher.â Jaskierâs lovely mouth twisted slightly, a note of bitterness in his gaze as he looked out over the vineyards. Geralt hurried on. âBut youâre the one who made me feel like being a witcher was already good enough.â
Jaskier turned back to him, blinking in surprise. âWell of course it is,â he said, and naturally the bard had missed the point, honing in on his favorite subject: the reputation of witchers and Geraltâs sense of self worth. âYouâre already useful, and noble, and good and kind besides all that. You donât have to be more than what you are to deserve - fuck, basic human connection and love.â He settled slightly, his gesturing hands falling into his lap once more. âIs that why you left them?â
âThe Path always calls,â Geralt said with a shrug. âNo one but you ever wanted to follow me.â
âOh,â Jaskier said, blushing. Geralt watched the color rise up over his cheek bones with something like fascination, or maybe hunger. âWell, now you know why,â he continued, with obviously false cheer. He gave Geralt a rueful smile. âI promise I wonât make things awkward. Iâve had decades to practice. I mean, itâs been thirty years. If you were going to fall in love with me you probably would have done so already, hmm?â
âYouâd think so,â Geralt agreed. âSorry it took me so long.â And then he leaned into Jaskierâs space and kissed him.
It wasnât a very good kiss. Barely a kiss at all, really, considering that Jaskier had frozen under him. Geralt pulled back, lifting a hand to run it gently over Jaskierâs side. The bard was absolutely still, his eyes closed tight. There was a small crease between his eyebrows that Geralt wanted to kiss away, but he wasnât sure if he should. âSorry,â he said softly.
Jaskierâs eyes fluttered open. It was unfair that a man could have beautiful eyelashes, Geralt mused, but here they were. âYou mustnât toy with me, witcher,â Jaskier croaked. His voice was raw, as if heâd been singing for hours.
Geralt moved his hand to the bardâs face, his thumb following along the line of his jaw and up to trace across his cheekbone. Freckles like stars under his fingers. âIâm not,â he rumbled. âI swear it, Jaskier. I just -â He paused, trying to marshal his thoughts. âYou were always there. No matter how shitty the Path was, or how miserable people were to you because of me, or how much I pushed you away. You stayed. You made me feel like I was worth something, and you made other people think that way too. Every day without you on the Path was always misery. I should have realized sooner, but Iâm not⊠good at this. Iâm sorry.â
Jaskierâs head dropped forward, his brow resting on Geraltâs collarbone. âI think thatâs the most Iâve ever heard you apologize in the span of a minute,â he said, voice thin. âThis is a lot to take in. Are you saying that you⊠that you love me? You, Geralt of Rivia, are in love with me?â
âYes,â Geralt said, smiling into Jaskierâs hair. âThatâs what Iâm trying to say.â
Jaskier pulled away to stare at him. Geralt tried to let his affection through, drinking in Jaskierâs beloved face like he hadnât allowed himself before. The last rays of the sun played over Jaskierâs hair, turning some of the strands to brilliant amber. His eyes were over bright. Whatever the bard saw in Geraltâs expression must have been enough, because the next moment they were kissing again.
It was, Geralt thought, a miracle that he had ever gone so long without doing so. Now that theyâd begun, he never wanted to stop. Jaskierâs lips were warm and soft against his, and when Geralt licked slowly into his mouth he tasted of old wine. They stayed like that for a long time, Geralt holding Jaskier close, decades of tension not so much breaking as releasing like a quiet sigh of relief.
Finally they pulled apart, Geralt nosing at Jaskierâs cheek as he hummed contentment into the bardâs skin. He could feel deft fingers petting through his hair, easily working around the tangles that had formed on the walk up the hill. âI love you,â he said, pressing the words below Jaskierâs ear as if he could speak them into his core that way.
Jaskier shivered once under him. âI love you too,â he said, and Geralt could feel him smiling in the way his jaw moved. He knew Jaskier in his bones. âIâll follow you wherever you go, you know.â
Geralt pulled back, pushing Jaskierâs fringe back with one hand as he met his eyes. âMaybe Iâll just stop running from you,â he said, smiling. Jaskier grinned back, and neither of them mentioned that his eyes were slightly damp. Geralt pushed himself to his feet and reached down a hand to his bard. âCome on. Letâs go home.â

I bought a house in the middle of nowhere
âYeah, I loved it, but sheâd never move there.â It was something akin to that, at least. He didnât mean any mischief, no deceit or planning. It was an honest take on what, at the time, was true. I saw the road into town on Google Maps, noted that it was closed during the winter, acknowledged the reality that a person can own a snowmobile, and I said, âwe are not moving there.â But, all good truths are just dares in the making.
And here I am, living in the âthereâ I said I would not. Two years ago, I left my job at Headspace for a life reset. It was pre-pandemic, and Ben and I were planning a big road trip. Our perfect paradise in Topanga, CA, had crystallized itself as many peopleâs perfect paradise, and those âmany peopleâ all had more money than us. Our options to buy a home were nil, and home-buying was essentially all we wanted. Benâs a builder and Iâm a world builder, and we wanted somewhere to invest that didnât belong to someone else. We packed the car with the tent and the bikes and the dog and all the things that come with tents and bikes and dogs, and off we went on our own Tour de lâOuest, looking for a place to call home. We knew what we wanted, knew our odds of finding it, and hit the road anyway. Here was the dream list â concocted by two pie-in-the-sky dummies who married each other:
Not rainy or consistently windy
Notable access to the arts
Remote and challenging to get to/close neighbors
Wild West influenced architecture
Progressive community
Exceptional trail access out the front door
High-speed internet
In our budget
And my personal favorite: had to âfeel rightâ Good luck to us with a list like that, but thus began our hunt. We camped in the snow, tried every dirty chai in the Rockies, and explored every town we could. Whatever a good time it was, it felt useless. Every town Ben was OK with, I hated. Every town I was OK with, Ben despised. And the few places we both loved required money we just didnât have. We came home with our sails down, limping into the harbor of our rental. But as is the way with romantics, our dreams began to slowly eclipse our reality. Books fell victim to Zillow and Trulia. TV was replaced by the MLS. All writing time was dedicated to Realtor.com. Hours were spent pouring over maps, county records, and updating spreadsheets that tracked price per square foot compared to beds and baths. Over time, all that internetting led to one singular town of 180 people at 10,000 feet in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado with a road that said âClosed Wintersâ on Google Maps. Look, I donât know what happened. Ben found this town on a map, I said donât be ridiculous, and after a year or so of him telling people I'd never move here, here I am, being ridiculous. Was it reverse psychology? Maybe. Was it the charming âtown planâ that mandated all houses be rustic cabins and forbade AirBnB? Could be. Was it the fact that when I looked at Stravaâs Heatmap, it showed what seemed like thousands of miles of trails just out the front door? I mean, yes. All these things played a part, but all I know for certain is that one day I woke up and said, âweâre going to move there.â Ben doubted this conviction (and the realities behind it) thus cementing it into place in my head. In a town of 180 people thereâs only ~60 houses, which means maybe 2 or 3 get listed per year â but my spreadsheet had the proof: we hadnât missed our chance yet in this tiny town. The data showed a strong likelihood there would be at least two houses listed within the calendar year. This, however, was also our last chance. The spreadsheet also showed that if we didnât find a house this year, we wouldnât be able to afford one the next. We called a realtor, made our case, and harangued her until she believed us that we were truly the kind of yahoos who would move to an avalanche field and stay there. And then it happened. A pocket listing. It was a darling home built in 1890. It had the beds, the baths, and the views. We were the first and only to know. We put in an offer, they agreed, and we would come to see the house in a few weeks. But in those few weeks, the circumstances changed. The sellers lost their own sweet deal, and they couldnât sell yet. Their agent promised we had right of first refusal, it was only a matter of time. Ben lamented, I preached patience, and we went to see the house that was no longer for sale anyway.
It was a quiet winter morning in Covid when we drove across the packed snow to meet our realtor outside the house. The sun was out and the 13 degrees Fahrenheit felt warm. I unzipped my jacket, mask on my face. I took long videos and talked about where I would set up my office and where weâd put the bikes. As we closed up and I settled into a future where this house would eventually be mine, our realtor told us there were comps in the area â other residents quietly interested in potentially closing out. Would we like to see them? Sure, letâs.
One home came with an incredible commercial kitchen. The whole house was a whopping 3500 sq ft if my memory serves me correct, which falls under the category of âhouses too big to find your cat in."
Another home had an open-air-to-the-kitchen bathroom.
The third was dark and overpriced with cracked windows and open beer cans scattered about.
And then, plans changed. âHey guys, thereâs actually one more house we can see.â The last house we saw was a log cabin, nestled in the hillside by itself, with massive A-frame windows looking out onto the peaks beyond. Inside was a labyrinth of a life lived long and large. The cabin was built and loved by a man weâll call Jack. Jack was 82, and as we walked toward the front door on that sunny winter morning, he exited with two beers in his pockets, headed to the mountain to ski. Jack was an attorney â in his life heâd been both criminal and defender â and from the stories, somewhat interchangeably. There were artifacts from running in the same scenes as Hunter S. Thompson and Willie Nelson; there were stuffed birds, bad books, sheet-covered couches, smoked spliffs, and piles and piles of mouse shit. Every inch of the house was lived in, and not just by people. You think millennials like plants? No. This man likes plants. The biggest monstera deliciosa Iâve ever seen, spanning some 10 feet wide and 15 feet tall. Draping cactuses, spider plants, massive aloes, and an ambitious hoya carnosa clawing its way to the top of the massive fireplace. But there were problems. Iâm trying to be diplomatic saying the house was lived in. The wood by the door handles was dyed black from years of hand grease rubbing against it. The carpet in the upstairs was soiled almost everywhere with bat scat. Newspaper was stuffed between the massive logs to keep the wind out. There was cardboard taped over almost every window, blankets nailed over the others. Half the doors wouldnât open. It was unnerving to touch the crusted light switches. It was early enough in the season of Covid-fear that touching anything felt like gambling. On our way back to our rental in the bigger neighboring town, we shared our awe and our no-ways, lamenting how long weâd have to wait for the little 1890s fixer upper. That night, I sent the video I took of the cabin to my parents. âCan you believe this?â I asked. And do you know what my dad said? âGreat log construction.â After that, the cabin was all we could talk about. âCould you believe those plants?â âDid you see how big those logs were?â âI just googled Jack, look at this.â âDo you know what the insulating factor of logs is?â âHow much did he say he was asking?â It came down to the plants. Amidst all the chaos in that house, the tender care of those decades-old plants sung the clearest. This wasnât just a place Jack lived in, it was a place that wanted to be lived in. We made an offer the next day.
Jack had six months to clear out his 30 odd years of collecting, and the town had six months to speculate about the worrisome Californians moving to their high-altitude, high-risk town. The town itself is an old mining town. It rests in a high valley, surrounded by peaks over 13,000ft, and is over six hours from the nearest major airport. Five people died around this town in avalanches this past year. The dirt road into town is littered with avalanche fields, warning visitors to not stop when driving in. The other way out is a pass road, only drivable in the warm months, but you could skin out if it was dire. Most August days, the high is in the mid-60s. The valley is blanketed in wildflowers, and the aspens littering the mountainsides suggest a promising fall display. The town had a heyday, a low day, and now itâs a community of preppers, adventurers, appreciators, and âget all these idiots away from meâers. We donât know these people yet, but the ones weâve met have the same like to live hard attitude we do. Heli-ski guides, ex-CIA agents, woodworkers, bakers, teachers, just a general can-do group of people. The kind of people that see a California license plate and peer with skepticism between the thin gap over their sunglasses and under their caps.
You might say Iâm romanticizing the place, but the residents are worse. Like all good old-timers, theyâre full of threats: âwaitâll you see the snow drifts,â âletâs see how you do outrunning an avalanche,â âgood luck with the winds,â âthe last Californians didnât last a year.â God, what does that remind me of?
âYeah, I loved it, but sheâd never move there.â
With every taunt, my teeth ground more enamel, fingers rolling into a clench. And maybe Jack recognized this intensity, because on the day of closing, he hosted a gathering for us in the town's open space. He had us introduce ourselves to the skeptical locals, and I made my case in court, eyes narrowed and lips curled. âIâm the daughter of a smokejumper and wildlife biologist. I grew up watching the wind and the door. Iâve lived in big cities, small boats, and more than one cabin. I always take the stairs, I never use air-conditioning, and Iâm a very good shot.â Iâm just a girl, standing in front of a town, asking them to give her a fucking chance. Jack stepped forward to speak. âYou know, I had my doubts about a couple Californians coming to look at my house. But these people? These are the nicest people youâre ever gonna meet.â And then I helped Jack set up his cot so he could spend his last night under the stars in the town that kept him young. Cooper ran circles with the other dogs. People brought homemade cocktails and bowls of dip and we felt welcomed. Even the mayor, a fellow writer, came and she struck up a conversation. âI hear youâve got a little bit of a following on social media!â She teased. âI guess, nothing wild.â âWell I just wanted to let you know if you ever geotag this town, Iâll drag you out of it.â She grinned. This was a special place. And every visitor who couldnât handle the realities of being here threatened the very wellbeing of the people who lived here. This town survives on a delicate balance. They source their own water, manage their own roads, and fervently protect the land and the people around them. Their stories about racing avalanches, snowmobiling in the dark of night to the doctorâs house, hunkering down in each otherâs homes as the storms pass â these stories were bylaws. You can join when youâve proven youâre ready to join. By their own projection, they are hardy and steadfast people, and when they see a Californian, they see something fleeting. Many years ago, I worked in the British Virgin Islands. The people born and raised there were called Belongers. At the customs office, the placards above the lines literally read, âIf you belong, stand hereâ and âIf you do not belong, stand here.â Whether or not we belong isn't up to the town council, and it's not up to these residents. It's up to years spent drifting my old Mustang in the snow on the way to school, up to Ben's months and months spent in the backcountry, up to my years of reading fire reports and assisting with evacuations, up to Ben's ability to read the landscape and the weather, up to my doggedness, his diligence, and our pathological love to do difficult things well. Itâs up to us, to these old logs, and to this valley. Doesn't mean we'll belong, but it does mean we'll try. And for the record, the road is open in the winter. But do these sound like the kind of people whoâd tell Google that? Next week, a tour of the house that we get to call ours â stuffed with newspaper, run by plants, and filled with mice. P.S. Here's where we get our mail.

Lilo and Stitch Crossovers:Â âMorpholomewâ (American Dragon Long): Stop Trying to Make Am Drag a Thing (Commisson Done For WeirdKev27)
Hello all you happy people! And welcome to a brand new retrospective/story arc/thing from yours truly, comissoned directly by WeirdKev27. If youâd like to comission your own review or set of reviews like this one, itâs 5 bucks. Just contact me via my ask box or direct messages on this very blog or my discord technicolormuk#6550.
With Shadow Into Light in the books, Kev decided he wanted to comission something not duck related and a bit smaller as a buffer before the next big arc, ALL of three arcs from season 2 of Ducktales, and decided to go with something he suggested to be a while back as a possible future retrospective: The Lilo and Stitch Crossover episodes!Â
Thatâs right for the next three weeks, with TWO reviews this week since I had a spot open up and Kev paid for this one in full and way in advance, weâll be taking a trip to Hawaii to visit everyoneâs faviorte little girl, her best friend/pet/killing machine as they try to find homes for his 625 cousins.Â
I loved Lilo and Stitch when I was a kid: Disney admitely got their hooks in me on that one with their cool prequel comics in disney adventures. These comics set up the movie, showing Jumba creating Stitch and the events leading up to both getting captured. The movie did not disapoint with cool character designs, a drop dead gorgeous recreation of Hawaii, and a really heartfelt, heartbreaking and heartpumping story of loss, family, and ving rahmes voicing one of the few heroic child services workers iâve seen in a medium, a refreshing change of pace. The film is a masterpiece and I really do need to watch it again sometime.Â
Given the series was a huge hit and that thsi was before the big lull in the late 2000âČs and early 2010âČs where Disney refused to make any tv shows based on their movies, a series followed, given a lead in by the direct to video movie Stitch.
The movie set up the basic premise; 624 capsules containing Jumbaâs previous experiments, cousins as Stitch calls them, ended up raining over Kauai, awakening when dropped into water or any other liquid. Lilo and Stitch, with help from Jumba, his live in boyfriend Pleakley, her tought but fair sister Nani, and her boyfriend David, who dosenât show up as much as iâd like but is my boy so he gets a mention here. But anyways our heroes try to reform the various engines of distructoin who all have unique powers and find them their one place they truly belong.Â
So yes the show was a Mons-type show clearly captalizing off pokemon.. but the slice of life setting as opposed to the shonen style of most shows following in pokemonâs wake, gave it itâs own unique feel: while our heroes did fight, it was more about shenanigans, adventures and what not with these unique creatures and the purpose is very heartflet: Lilo simply wants to give these guys the same kind of love and support sheâs given Stitch and a chance to do good.Â
Opposing them is Gantu, the shark bounty hunter from the first film who, now out of a job, is working for Dr. Hamstervile, an imprisoned sceintest and a character I really donât like that much as heâs not funny or a genuine threat or both and feels like a waste of time. Thankfully heâs not the focus and Gantu is instead partnered with 625, my faviorite Lilo and Stitch character. 625, as the name suggests, is stitchâs immediate prototype.. but unlike Stitch is too lazy and peaceful to be a real threat and isnât even really a villian despite being on Gantuâs side. Heâs busy making samwitches, his calling to the point when he gets a name in the finale movie itâs naturally Ruben, and snarking at gantu. Heâs sadly not in this one but hopefully itâs JUST this one.Â
As you can tell I liked this show a LOT at the time. I havenât watched it since, mostly because disney scarely replayed it after itâs run, but it was vibrant, fun and intresting and a nicely laidback and creative take. The fact I came into the franchise with the comics and thus 625, who was introduced there in fact, and had a hunger to know more about the other experiments certainly helped. It was great fun.Â
But while I grew up with the show and the four shows it teamed up with, iâve never seen these episodes before these reviews. I wondered why for years as I caught the tail end of the kim possible one and saw images ocasionally, but never saw them.Â
Turns out itâs because in general Season 2 got screwed over. While Season 1 was pushed out the door fast and aired at a rapid pace Season 2.. was portioned out over several years, and the Recess crossover one, the last one aired and the last one iâll be covering never even got to Disney channel, only airing on ABC kids, DIsneyâs saturday morning block at the time I rarely watched. I did watch itâs predecessor one saturday morning though. Good stuff.Â
Since I couldnât find any making of stuff for why these episodes happened, my best guess is DIsney wanted some cross promotion, and the shows used were chosen because they were the most popular at the time and honestly all 4 represent some of disneyâs best, with Recess being in heavy reruns at the time, hence iâts conclusion despite the show being finished before Lilo And Stitch the movie came out, let alone the series.Â
So yeah iâm taking this ride for the first time.. but I was happy to. While Kev pays for a lot of my work, I still have to accept the idea.. and this was a great one. It allows me to cover 5 amazing series and gage how much people would want to see reviews of said series on this blog in one fell swoop.
So to kick us off we have American Dragon: Jake Long, a series I waited forever to come to Disney + as I loved it at the time, badly need to rewatch it (Been busy ), and find it genuinely great: Itâs a great teen superhero story about the magical protector of new york, with a charming lead, a great setting and horrifcally great villians in the violently racist magic creature hunting huntsclan.. and their top agent who happens to be jakeâs love intrest Rose. Itâs really excellent and iâm glad itâs now widely avaliable for all to see. I will say ahead that all four shows in this crossover arc are excellent, and were fine choices for this.Â
So what happens when an action comedy about a hip hop teenage dragon meets a slice of life show about aliens? Find out under the cut.Â
So we open at a fancy hotel where Liloâs bringing lunch to her sister Nani when she runs into.. Keoni Jameson.Â
The second I remembered this kid all the hate just came flooding back, coursing through my veigns. Just pure liquid hatred for this little perosnalitiless little punk. Keoni is Liloâs crush and local âstupid white audience stand inâ. He has no real personality other than âgeneric cool kidâ and âlikes skatingâ, and just sucks the air out of the room anytime heâs in an episode. Keoni is part of a recurring problem in cartoons across the ages, one thatâs slowly going away: the bland love intrest. Intorducing a character whose only traits are being cool for the lead to fawn over with usually no intent of either getting the two togehter or just ending it. ITâs annoying, it was in a good chunk of my childhood, I wish itâd stop. I cannot tell you how many shows used this trope. There were exceptions, American Dragon Jake Long actually used it well by not only making Rose a fleshed out character.. but making her jakeâs nemisis in their other lives, and thus making things increidbly difficult on both once the truth comes out, with Jake grappling with if he can trust her or not and Rose grappling with the slow relization eveyrthing she was taught her whole life was wrong.
And again I have seen GOOD storylines using this as a tool: Dipper and Wendy ended with her having been aware teh whole time, but simply not knowing how to let him down given the age gap, and Regular Show rebounded the best from it: it turned the stop and start relatoinshpi of Mordecai and Margretâs relationship into a character flaw for him, openly explored it.. and ended up having him work past it and actually date her for a bit. Before she moved away, he got an even better love interest, then they destoryed the relationship in the worst way posisble and I wil lbe getting to that at some point. Some point.Â
So yeah even at the time it was done better, hindsight haas only made it worse and it made watching the first few minutes tough because I had to keep pasuing because I hate him so damn much. He just adds NOTHING to the show and is a blank yanwing void from which no good came out of and I was terrified heâd be in the rest of the episode. Thankfully while he drives the plot heâs only in this scene.. but itâs still one more scene than both 625 and Pleakly got. yeah both are missing, as is nani.Â
I did uncover one fun fact that made things a bit easier though: The crew ALSO hated Keoni. No really. Disney forced the character on them as they wanted an audience surrogate, and this abomination is what popped out. They DID NOT want him here and likely only used him as mcuh as they did because Disney forced it on them. And Disney would NOT learn from this as Star Vs got saddled with Alphonso and Ferguson soley because of network mandate. The two arenât TERRIBLE characters but they arenât great and feel as tacked on as they were. And part of this does fall on the crew: you CAN twist a stupid mandate like this to work well: Joe Murray was asked to add âA female character with a hookâ, as in some sort of dumb gimmick to Rocko. He used those words, meant to create a superfical girl power cardboard cutout.. and created the wonderful Dr. Hutchenson, a bright cheery doctor, the series best sidecharacter.. and someone with a hook hand. But I wonât go too hard on them: they probably didnât have as much room to manuver and the fact Keoni was sitll being shoved into episodes in season 2 tells me they likely had a set number of episodes he had to show up. Iâm suprised they didnât demand they have characters ask âWhereâs Keonie?â any time he wasnât in an episode. He was unecessary and it comes across with a massive chunk of unforutnate implications: that they didnât think a series with a mostly hawaiann cast would work, that they wanted at least one other âniceâ white character to offset myrtle instead of having the only major white character be a bully and antagonist, and that they thought tehir mostly white audience coudlnât enjoy a series without a white character, which as someone who was in the target demo at the time, I call bullshit on. As I said I hated him then, I hate him now and his involvement is the worst aspect of this episode.Â
So after Lilo fawns over him for a bit we find out this chonk of woodâs purpose in the episode: to set up the plot. Thereâs a massive Skate Competition coming to town with the prize being a really cool skateboard. This plot point itself.. I donât mind. Jake is a skater, itâs part of his character and one of the things he loves doing in what minsicule spare time he has. And while it was a common trope at the time having a character skateboard really dosenât harm most works. Weâve gotten great characters like Jake, Jackie Lynn Thomas, Branwen and Ronnie Anne Santiago out of it, and it feels like natural parts of the character, and frankly An Extremley Goofy Movie wouldnât be NEARLY as awesome without having skateboarding bizzarley attached to the plot via the college x-games. Granted somtimes you get Rocket Power out of the deal but thatâs the price you pay for the good stuff. I only regret itâs involved because Keoni has to be there and I had to pause multiple times to get through his scene. Heâs just a sampler platter of terrible decisions made in 2000âČs cartoons and he irritates me more than this guy.Â
And anyone whose read my Loud House reviews can tell you that is a high bar to clear.Â
So naturally Lilo wants to enter the Hawiann X-Games to get the board for Keoni. Though I will give the writers credit for having Stitch voice their thoughts and the audiences thoughts by having him take Keoniâs picture and throw it in the garbage. Where he belongs.Â
Liloâs not great at it as they practice.. and said practice naturally ends up waking up a new experiment, 316.. who iâm just going to go ahead and call Morpholomew. Stitch eventually catches him though like many of the experiments heâs not actively malevelolent and is easy enough to get home.Â
Jumba gets to his schitck of breaking down what the experiment of the week does: In this case Morpholomew is a shapeshifter though he has a VERY intresting twist on those powers: while he can naturally morph himself into anything heâs seen or has a picture of, he can do the same to anyone he touches. It dosenât effect their voices, but otherwise itâs a perfect recreation.Â
So Lilo instead of finding him a home right away.. decides to wait until after the compettition because we need him for the plot.Â
So at the Skateboard Competittion Lilo tries to enter, but finds sheâs too young.. but since she has a picture of Keoni, which is a nice way to use her photo hobby from the movie for plot reasons and thus dosenât feel like an ass pull. Why Keoniâs not in town to skate is as his dad left because itâd be too crowded.. even though the event is at the resort he owns.Â
So while Lilo commits identtity theft, our guest star appears. Heâs cool, heâs hot like a frozen son, heâs young and fast heâs the chosen one, people iâm not braggin, iâts the American Dragon. Jake is here for two reasons: the first is that Grandpa Long got reports of magical creatures out in the open, so naturally they need to look into that. Itâs a clever way to get him, along with Grandpa, Fu, Trixie and Spud, over to Hawaii. The Dragon Council would defintely be suspcious hearing about this, and my guess to why they hadnât sent another dragon over is they simply dontâ have one on the islands. As for why the Huntsclan didnât get involved in any way, itâs simply too public for them. With the magical community in new york, they donât have to worry about exposure because neither side wants it, so neither side can out the other. Here with a bunch of creatures out in the open it runs the risk of the Hunstclan being dragged into the light.. and given the populace dosneât care about the âmagical creaturesâ alongside them, it would make them look like the monsters they are.Â
Spud and Trixie tagging along also makes sense besides âthey needed them for the plotâ: While theyâd obviously want to come to Hawaii, the skate competition is likely Jakeâs cover for why heâs there, as well as one for why itâs just him and grandpa going with a couple of his friends so they donât have to deal with manuvering around jakeâs dad. That sad them never TELLING jakeâs Dad is itâs own can of worms as it feels cruel, made things harder for jake and there was no real reason not to. At worst heâd want Jake to stop for his own saftey but given therâes an active threat in the huntsclan for the first season and a half, NOT helping people would be the right thing and I feel heâs a sensible enough man to understand eventually.Â
And itâs stuff like this that already makes this crossover really work for me: they donât really have to strain to get Jake over there or tell the audience heavily, the blanks fill in themslves. Or I am but thatâs because itâs my job and I love doin it.Â
So everyone goes off to their corners; Jake to do a few practice runs, Foo Dog to bet on his friend because of course, Trixie and Spud to go to the beach (even though Spudâs terrified of sharks so I question why Trixie needs him for this), and in a delightfully adorable subplot, finds a lady to woo: local fruit stand vendoer and crankly old lady Mrs. Hasagawa.Â
I am here for this subplot: While Grandpa not focusing on the mission is weird for him thatâs the entire point.. and their just really cute together. Heâs smitten with her entirely because he sees her chewing out one of the people running the contest for making her sign too small. And he performs one hell of a romantic gesture by, while everyoneâs back is turned, using his dragon fire to make an add for her on the skate ramp itself, and they have a lovely montage of their time together.. which also weirdly includes grandpa using his dragon fire on stage inf ront of everyone which makes no sense for his charcter but is so cute and does feature david I really donât care. The writers of Lilo and Stitch probably werenât deeply familiar with the show and likely just wanted a fun gag. Could be wrong there but itâs cute. He continues to act grossly out of character by trying to avoid going home at the end.. but again I find it simply because heâs in love, they have genuine chemstiry and I like to think they stayed in touch and he retired out there at some point once Jake was old enough to handle things himself. This may not be a ship I expected to support going in but I will die for it going out.Â
So back to the main plot, Lilo uses Keoniâs body to imitate him which... sheâs only loosely called out on and realizes is bad by the end only because she gets stuck in another body. And thatâs not even getting into the fact she BREAKS UP WITH KEONIâS GIRLFRIEND. Yes really.. she just does that to get her out of the way. She comes around and realizes she was wrong and tries to fix it which would be fine.. if hte episode didnât try to cop it out by revealing âOh sheâs not his girlfriend, sheâs just someone who keeps telling people thatâ. It just feels lazy and dumb and a way to keep Liloâs crush on Keoni for reasons I DO. NOT. GET. But the identity theft is just brushed aside by everyone: Keoni never finds out, and Jake just brushes it off. The real issue is more her trying to bribe keoni into likng her which while something kids need to learn is not the only thing she did wrong here. It feels like they didnât think all the implications out here and it hampers the episode
Speaking of which as Gantu captures Jake, he sees him transform into dragon mode and assumes heâs the experiment, Jakeâs charactization is pretty shallow. And why yes it DOES feel weird writing sentences about a character with the same name thank you for asking. I wasnât expecting a deep character piece or anything: This is a guest spot, the writers here are not the same normal ones for American Dragon. Thatâs fine. The problem.. is that they clearly did not get Jake. Grandpa being partly out of character is half the joke, Trixie actually gets a really nice moment towards the end, and Spud.. is eh. But out of them Jake just feels like a basic character description: He likes hip hop, he likes skateboards, he calls himself Am Drag despite that sounding like a good name for a drag act but a terrible name to shorten your title, he fights.. thatâs it.Â
While jake is all of that in the main series, heâs also a kind young man who while sometimes irresponsible does the right thing when the chips are down. Heâs someone weighed down by a responsiblity he didnât ask for, often makes his life more difficult and often finds himself in trouble because his mother and grandfather wonât bother to tell his dad heâs a dragon. Yes that part still bothers me, and I donât see why we couldnât just have a superhero show where both parents know. But regardless this just dosenât feel like Jake , like they just watched the intro and that was it. Jake feels more like a plot device in his own crossover.Â
That being said there is some good stuff: The minute Jake realizes some Sci Fi stuff is going on instead of hte normal magic stuff he tells him âThe am dragâs show isnât about sci fiâ a nice meta bit and then breaks out. Meanwhile Lilo takes on his form.. and ends up stuck after badly botching her run again, as Gantu finds the real shapeshifter.Â
We get the best stretch of the episode from here though: Lilo awkardly tries to play jake and like jake we get a nice meta nod to how diffrent their show is as sheâs worried about his belief in magical creatures.. and is startled out of her charade when Foo Dog talks, a really nice bit especially since itâs tame compared to the weirdness he deals with. Spud and Trixie have questions... only for Jake to show up and his agressive behavior leads to the best bit of the episode: Jake Vs Stitch. The catlyst is understandable: jake has no idea why Liloâs taken his identity and Sttich is just protecting his best friend from harm. The animation is fluid, the fight is fun and quick and uses bothâs powers stellarl. Whle âtwo heroes get into a misunderstanding and then fightâ is a well worn cliche at this point, itâs moments like this that show why: you get to see two heroes who in this case never have interacted before or sense, duke it out, why each is special and itâs fun to watch.Â
Lilo breaks it up, and admits to the whole thing.. including the whole give Keani the board stuff. While Jake and Spud, being awkard with girls and a loveable moron donât see the problem with that Trixie gets a moment to shine. As far as I can remember she really didnât get much on the show proper so it was a nice suprise to see her mentor lilo her, telling her trying to give someone gifts to love you is not okay, she should just be herself all that good stuff. Itâs a nice character stuff and thaâts the kind of character interaction this episode needed more of.Â
With the misunderstandings washed away our heroes team up and storm gantuâs ship leading to another great sequence as Stitch rides on Jakeâs back while the two keep him busy and Lilo gets turned back, Trixie complimenting her dress âThanks I have 10 just like it at homeâ. Itâs such a sweet and genuine momentâ They head back out and gantu semeingly grabs morpholmew from where they hide.. only to find out when he gets back itâs spud, our adorable little blob monster transforming Gantu into a bunny and our heroes leaving. How does Gantu get out of being a bunny?
But itâs a nice enough gag. So we end the episode. We get another nice gag as grandpa had himself and his lady transformed to try and avoid going home, and Jake is fine with having lost out on the board what matters is he made a friend. Sadly we did not get a followup in ADJL., but spud does name our experiment, Morpholomew.Â
We end on Morph getting his home: a costume shop where he gets paid in fried chicken, he was shown to enjoy it throughtout the episode and changes people into things. Itâs a nice little button to the episode and one of the funnest parts of the show was figuring out where the experiment would end up at the end.Â
Final Thoughts:
This episode is a really mixed bag. There is some good character interactions, two tremendous fight scens and Trixie gets a chance to shine for once if only for a scene or two, and the clashing genres end up making for some great jokes> The shows do go well together as while Lilo and Stitch is more laid back both have slice of life elements. And hasgawa X Grandpa is just oto cute for words.Â
The episode is held back by Jake and Liloâs lackluster characterizatons: Jake is simply the theme song as a character, which in theory is awesome because that theme song slaps but in practice is pretty lame, and Lilo is selfish and irresponsible even for her in a way that dosenât feel at all convincing. It drags down whatâs otherwise a fun crossover and Morpholomew is truly a unique and wonderful experiment. Still if you like either show itâs worth a watch even if you have to suffer through Keoni for it. Itâs worth it.. I just wish it was better and hopefully the next 3 will keep the good parts but take out the bad. Granted this was produced last so I could be wrong, but hereâs hoping. Oh this episode also featured Miranda Cosgrove as the girl who claims to be Keoniâs girlfriend. This is also Keoniâs last episode meaning I do NOT have to worry about accidently running into him. Thank fucking christ.Â
Next Time On American Dragon Jake Long: Jakeâs dad drags him and his friends on a camping trip and Jake ends up encountering the Jersey Devil. Now all they need is a sexy lady devil cake to lure it out... what it worked for the Cake Boss. And yes that happened, Allison Pregler did an episode on that episode. Check it out.Â
Next Time On Lilo and Stitch Crossovers: Itâs the family, the family, proud familllyyy as the Prouds take a vacation at Peakly and Jumbas bed but not breakfast and we get some kind of squirrel demon for our experiment of the week. We also get Wizard Kelly appearing...
See you at the next rainbow.Â
